[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 64490] LibreOffice Writer text highligthing is not compatible with Microsoft Word DOC and DOCX (highlighting transforms to background color)
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=64490 --- Comment #31 from Chris Sherlock chris.sherloc...@gmail.com --- Any GSoC participants who want to know what happens when they press the highlight toolbar button should review the SfxDispatcher mechanism. It calls on SfxTextShell::Execute(), the slot that it uses is SID_ATTR_CHAR_COLOR_EXT on line 1190 of sw/source/core/ui/textsh1.cxx. I hope that helps a little bit. You'll probably also need to look at how Word handles highlighting in the docx format. For an automatic foil change during a slideshow I have set the time to 20 seconds. LO, however, ignores the setting and change the foil after hardly 2 seconds. Increasing the value to 120 seconds does not change the behaviour. Hence I installed LO Portable in the version 4.1.5. The value of 20 seconds suddenly changed to 0,20 seconds! This means a factor of 100 lower then set. I changed to 20 seconds and it worked perfectly. Last test: I changed the setting to 12 seconds for all foils in LO portable, stored the file, closed the portable version and started 4.2.2.1. Now the displayed value became 1200 seconds! Current situation: On the whole, we don't receive many LibreOffice-related calls, but one which keeps plaguing us is one where LibreOffice keeps hanging on start. We've found a number of posts which suggest deleting the %appdata%\3\user\config\javasettings_windows_x86.xml file, and this does work, but due to the randomness of the fault, this isn't that great an option, seeing as we have more than 8500 users. Has this issue be fixed in more recent versions of LibreOffice? Are there any other files/registry/configurations changes which we could make to eradicate this problem? Please let me know if you need any more information. https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=75741 --- Comment #19 from Michael Meeks michael.me...@collabora.com --- Hi Tim, some useful things you can do would be: a) get a 'thread apply all backtrace' output having attached gdb to a running process for the crash, and attach it here. b) run valgrind --num-callers=50 ./soffice.bin --calc 21 | tee /tmp/val-log and attach /tmp/val-log here - that -should- also point pretty directly to the memory corruption that is prolly going on there. Having that data (particularly the valgrind log - beware runs 100x slower or so) - is very useful and will usually point directly at the issue.
