 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

I would really appreciate if you could make a feature that would allow to
automatically highlight the active row (or the row and even the column) while
moving in spreadsheet. It would greatly improve orientation in large tables.

Something like this: http://en.libreofficeforum.org/node/7548

Thanks!

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 77482] Writer: Inserting multi worded autotexts adds unnecessary line break

Hello Laurent,

I cannot reproduce with Autotext New. I can only reproduce if I select
Autotext New (Text only) which is the same as bug 53023.

You are right. This seems to be the same bug. As you can see in attachment
#97395 i also used New (Text only).

For my case I can *NOT* workaround this issue by using Autotext New because
this also adds the current formatting of the text. As we use many different
preformatted document templates with styles+formatting templates these two
kinds of formatting would produce inexpected results.

I am able to reproduce this problem as well. It is a security issue,

No, it is not. Hidden sheets can be made visible again any time.

 because
many people actually use the sheet-hiding mechanism for confidentiality.

I would rather not comment on this...

Sample PDF file

Probably the scenario is unusual, but I have problems when opening PDF files in
Impress (I had a DIN A5 form as PDF that I wanted to print twice on one DIN A4
sheet. As draw couldn't import or open PDF, I opened the PDF in Impress,
selected all, copies and pasted it into draw, duplicated and move it to ful
fill the requirement. After print I saw some unusual character spacing that
wasn't seen in the Original PDF).
The test case is this: I have a PDF produced with Inkscape in Linux and
exported to PDF (Cairo, I think). When Opening the PDF in Impress, the problem
manifests as the word Signature(s) being shown as Signa tures(2) (It seems
there are other artefacts also, but I'll concentrate on that one).
I'll provide a sample PDF file as well as partial screen shots, trying to show
that the problem is not the PDF file. I also tried opening the PDF on the same
Linux platform that created it (to rule out a missing font issue), but the
result is the same.

--- Comment #3 from Mike Kaganski mikekagan...@hotmail.com ---
Well, then, this must be a false positive.

You may check this using, e.g., VirusTotal.
The soffice.bin from 4.2.4.2 for Windows check result is here:
https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/ec430fa2fa2be06b12fac546c2f5428e662037dfee6af1f2aec5a824dc82a9c2/analysis/1400049976/
- you may see it's clean.

As this issue describes a problem in outside software (false-positive in an AV
package), I close it as NOTOURBUG.
You may report this to your AV software vendor. But I believe that this is
already fixed, as VirusTotal scan includes results from Comodo.

Next time, please don't answer to messages from Bugzilla using your email
client program; instead, use the Bugzilla WEB interface. This helps keeping
issues clean and understandable.

Thank you for reporting.

(In reply to comment #17)
This sounds promising. I will test the daily build in a day or so (allowing
time for the fix to propagate there).

Note that the issue is not fully fixed yet. I'm pushing incremental changes to
master, and some robot is setting this issue's whiteboard target when it sees
commits that mention this issue's ID. I will make note here once the issue is
fully fixed on master.

The whiteboard indicates the fix is targetting 4.3.0. Since this problem
more or less makes 4.2.x a non-starter in a business environment (where
preservation of access modes is important), is there any chance it could be
pushed into a 4.2.x maintenance release as well? It appears to be a fairly
important bugfix to me, at least as far as Linux users are concerned.

Depending on the ultimate fix, backporting could be somewhat tricky. And given
that this issue is reported against LO 3.6 (and is probably even older than LO
itself), I'm not sure how pressing a fix for 4.2 vs. 4.3 actually is overall.

LibreOffice Version: 4.2.4.2 Build ID: 63150712c6d317d27ce2db16eb94c2f3d7b699f8
on Russian Windows XP Professional SP3 (32bit)

If we try to open Example_34.ods file in LibreOffice, select cells A4:E38 and
make Sort Ascending and after that immediately Undo: Sort (or Ctrl+Z) that
we'll see that some cells (from cell F25 to F39) have a value other than the
original (cell F25 had value 1677,13 after such operations became 1669,87; cell
F27 had value 527,64 after such operations became 525,86 and so on). If we
select full rows (A4:AMJ38), than after Undo all is fine.

In LibreOffice Version 4.1.4.2 there was no such problem with partial sorting.

Problem description: I was trying to open my thesis, which is about 168 pages,
or 71,000 words long, including footnotes. While libreoffice will open other
docx files with no problem (the largest I tried successfully was about 15,000
words), it cannot open my thesis. It freezes, and even given a large amount of
times (around 20 min) will not open the file. Upgrading to the latest version
of Libreoffice did not fix this problem

Steps to reproduce:
1. create a large (168 pages or 71,000 words) docx file
2. attempt to open
3. fail to open

Current behavior: freezes, must be shut down

Expected behavior: opens file without problems

OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: marc.wuille...@gmail.com
  Hardware: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.2.4.2 release
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

When copying and pasting text from certain PDF files to a Writer document,
Writer changes the document's creation date, creator name as well as title,
subject and keywords (if present) to that of the PDF file.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open writer, type some text and save the file. See the document's properties
for correct Created date and author name and Modified date and author name.

2. Open a PDF document with Adobe Reader, select a passage and press CTRL+C to
copy.

3. Go to the Writer document and press CTRL+V to paste the passage.

4. See the Writer document's properties for changed Created date, author as
well as title, subject and keywords (if present).

I tested in Win7 64bit with LO 4.2.4.2 release and Adobe Reader 11.0.06.
The phenomenon also appears in Windows Vista 32bit with LO 4.2.4.2 release and
Adobe Reader 9.5.5.

It does not happen with Calc.

Also, it does not happen with a different PDF viewer, for example SumatraPDF
v2.4.

And it does not happen with all PDF files. An example of a PDF file that
triggers the phenomenon is the Intel SSD Toolbox Release Notes document:
http://downloadmirror.intel.com/18455/eng/Intel_SSD_Toolbox_Release_Notes_Rev3_2_1_325993_017.pdf

This is a bug, though it's probably a very old bug.

I think the dialog is not registering that the change has been made to the
number format, which is why the caller of the dialog is not applying it to the
selection.

I already see this in 3.5, I won't be surprised if we inherited this from OOo.

touched there I guess.

Anyhow - I've pushed it for now; can you send a license statement to the

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 59699] RTF: INCLUDEPICTURE image not shown

2014-05-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59699

--- Comment #5 from Albrecht Müller albrecht.muel...@astrail.de ---
Using a very old installation of Star Office 9 I was able to convert a .rtf
file containing linked pictures into an .odt file. LibreOffice displays the
converted file correctly. There are some flaws however:

A more then 15 years old version of Word, Word97, shows the pictures in some
reasonable default format, e.g. it scales larges pictures in a way such that
they fit on a page.

The .odf file seems to contain the pictures in their original size. This
requires substantial work to format them by hand, and I think the related
dialog box is confusing and lacks a feature that allows to change the scaling
while maintainig a fixed aspect ratio, especially the aspect ratio of the
original picture.

I would expect that LibreOffice scales big linked pictures such that they fit
on a page while maintaining the aspect ratio of the original as a default
behaviour (the .rtf file may specify something else).

A feature that allows to scale a picture using a fixed aspect ratio would be
helpful. GIMPs user interface contains this kind of scaling transformations.

So, here's a video of how to achieve what you want to do with the current UI.
http://youtu.be/Guqjv_uKadA

Here's what I think we could do (without looking into the implementation
details to see if thats plausible yet).

1. In the master slide view modify it so that any changes in formatting to the
preview is automatically synced up to the outline level style. So formatting an
outline level 2 preview changes outline level 2 style
2. Disallow changes to the preview which aren't logical, e.g. can't delete a
paragraph from it, can't insert a paragraph, etc. Seeing as we aren't currently
supporting custom text for the click-here to edit, disallow changing the text
two and automatically select the entire paragraph and not allow partial
selections of the paragraph.

caolanm-thb: Does this sound plausible to you ? Why do we currently allow
these to be edited in the master view at the moment ?

--- Comment #2 from Sasha sashk...@hotmail.com ---
OK, I need to change the description of the bug (I have changed the summary
title of the bug, too). I have stripped the file as much as I could and tried
to run manually what the macro does, and I have now very clear replication
steps

Please see the second file attached (moo2.odt):
1) Select the cell range C8-J19
2) Go to menu Data - Sort
3) Choose to sort by Row 17, then Row 18, then Row 19, all Descending
4) Choose to sort Left to right (sort columns)
5) Hit Sort and observe the crash

Examples that make crash NOT to happen (why???):
1) Get rid of the superscript in the cell that has it
2) Get rid of the data in one of the cells (or both)
3) Choose to sort Row 17 by Ascending (other two rows still by Descending)

Hopefully this detailed analysis helps :-)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 78703] New: SLIDESHOW: fading slide transitions start with a white `flash'

2014-05-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=78703

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 78703

`flash'
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: rene.sed...@gmx.at
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.2.4.2 release
 Component: Presentation
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:

The slide transitions `Fade smoothly' and `Fade through black' produce a white
flash (like one frame of a video, sometimes the white screen is interrupted
with black bars) before starting. The following slide is normal.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Choose a background color of the previous slide (the one from which the
effect starts from) which is different from white (otherwise the effect is
barely visible but still there).
2. Set slide transition to either `Fade smoothly' or `Fade through black'.
Already the preview shows the white flash but it gets really obvious on the
presentation
3. Look at the transition in the slide show and `flash' your audience

Current behavior:
Slide transitions involving a fade start with a white flash or burst before
operating normally.

Expected behavior:
The first frame of the transition should equal the starting slide without any
glitches.

Remark:
I have Fedora 20, on kernel 3.14.3, x64 on an Asus UX51V with NVidia+Intel card
(The intel card is active with nouveau as driver, glx active). Java, opengl,
flash, etc. work usually correct without errors.
The flash effect looks like if a non initialized page is simply displayed
before the first rendered frame.

Remark II:
I never used these transitions before, so I cannot tell when this glitch
appeared first.

4. Fill in D into B8
5. Select the 4 fields, top left B7 to bottom right C8
6. Cut the fields
7. Select field B4
8. Ctrl+V (Paste)

Current behavior: A prompt appears that warns you, that data will be
overwritten and you can select Yes or No

Expected behavior: I think there should be a third option merge data (and
then the options should be Overwrite, Merge and No). In the original
dataset the place for A was empty. In my opinion there is no need to
overwrite field B4 in this case which a non-data field. I discovered this
issue in a more complex context, but the principle stays the same.

I can imagine, that this can get pretty complex, especially when things like
borders, (background) colors etc. come into play, but I think the described
enhancement is better in any way, you could still use the old behaviour using
the Overwrite option if you prefer that.

Thanks for your awesome product! :)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 78711] New: Improve CTRL+SHIFT+ARROW selection (like Excel)

2014-05-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=78711

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 78711

  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: norbert.n...@gmx.de
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.2.3.3 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

After the discussions in Bug 37230 and Bug 78534 I'm filing a new bug to
request finally a better solution for CTRL+SHIFT+ARROW selection.

This solution shell...

- Have a fixed cursor position
- Detect empty/filled and filled/empty transitions over the full selection
range (not from a single focal point cell)

For better understanding I provide the following demonstration:

- Open the attached TestCase.odf
- Make sure cursor is set to cell D1
- While holding down SHIFT+CTRL click arrow-left
- While holding down SHIFT+CTRL click arrow-down

Resulting selection: A1:D6

Expected selection (Excel): A1:D4

2014-05-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=64490

--- Comment #35 from Romano Giannetti romano.gianne...@gmail.com ---
We are near to 4.3 release, and this bug is here (or in OO.org or in various
incarnations of the suite) since 2004.

The only thing that happens is that it is marked as a must have for the
current version, and never taken care of.

Could a developer comment if this is really impossible to fix? I can understand
that if the internal data representation is completely different, this thing
could be impossible to fix.

It is a show-stopper for LO in my workplace --- I *have* to be able to interact
with MS word and this highlight problem breaks even the simplest document.

To support the claim that it is a 10-years-old bug:

For me, when I open a file, I select the name, and focus on that. In the case

Esc to close the window again.
What else :) ?

possible in the master view, it might make sense to grey that out while in

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 78711] Improve CTRL+SHIFT+ARROW selection (like Excel)

Just to make sure I understand this, you're proposing a third behavior where
the selection stops when ANY of the cells on the front of the selection range
collide with a empty/non-empty cell? Basically, it perform a select to block
margin on each cell in your currently selected range and stop at the first
collision?

For instance, if we have a selection of A1:C1, and we press ctrl+shift+down,
you want it to stop when we encounter ANY change in columns A, B, or C?

In certain situations, that behavior would make things MUCH less efficient than
even the non-legacy mode. For instance, if you had lots of randomly populated
columns, it would render ctrl+shift+arrow entirely useless.

I don't have any way to test this under MS Excel, but is this behavior really
the new standard? I see no use for this behavior unless it already is an
established standard and is implemented as another option for compatibility.
Even if that is the case, it would still be an enhancement request. I will
mark it as such.

Whatever is decided, please do not modify the newly implemented Use legacy
cursor movement behavior when selecting. I understand it will no longer be
checked by default starting in 4.3, but that's fine as long as it's easy to
enable. I still see it as the only useful selection mode available.

I don't understand how this bug report is a duplicate of bug 78534 or why it
needed to be created. In any case...

If what tmacalp describes is correct, the proposed third behavior is even more
whacky than the recent non-legacy behavior. Personally, I don't care what
Excel does (nor can I find out, since I have no access to it). I am more
concerned with what makes sense.

I and many of my users have been GREATLY upset by the changing of the
CTRL+SHIFT+ARROW behavior in LO 4 (to supposedly match the completely illogical
Excel behavior), and ecstatic that an option to turn on the proper, 15-year
legacy behavior was recently added. Even the mention of another change to
CTRL+SHIFT+ARROW behavior makes me want to scream...

Screenshot of bug

Problem description:
Using OSx 10.9.2,64 bit, if I have a libre Calc window open in the background
and another LO window, Writer or Calc, open in the foreground and scroll the
background window the background window will be corrupted with never ending
copies of the entry that was just out of sight in the background window, i.e.
if scrolling down then the lower row just out of sight at the bottom of the
window will duplicate for ever as you scroll down. If scrolling up then the
same thing happens with the row just out of sight at the top of the window.

Note: OSx will allow scrolling of a background window without selecting the
window.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open a LO Calc spreadsheet longer than one page.
2. Open any Calc or Writer document.
3. Move the document opened in step 2 to the side enough to partially view the
spreadsheet opened in step 1.
4. Hover the mouse pointer over the doc. opened in step 1 and scroll that
document and observe the corruption.

Note: Verified it still happens with LO 4.2.4.1.

Current behavior: As described above

Expected behavior: Should scroll without corruption.

this one has a better description, that one is older.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 42535] Editing UI: Ctrl+Shift-RightArrow faulty extension result

2014-05-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42535

--- Comment #9 from tmacalp tmac...@gmail.com ---
As described in bug 62436, this bug seems to stem from all move to block
margin operations immediately following a paste being wonky.

Essentially, immediately after you paste into a cell, your next select/move to
block margin operation(ctrl+arrow or ctrl+shift+arrow) will be erroneously
based from cell A1 instead of the real cursor cell.

My test:
1. Start a new spreadsheet
2. Insert a number in A10
3. Select any cell (C15 in this case)
4. Copy (Ctrl-C)
5. Paste into same cell (Ctrl-V)
6. Ctrl+shift+down

Expected:
We were in C15 when we performed the select to block margin action, so
ctrl+shift+down should select the range C15:C1048576

Actual:
Selects range A10:C15. This is because it selects from the cursor cell C15 to
the cell ctrl+shift+down'd from A1. Since in step 2 we inserted a number into
A10, it selects the range A10:C15.

Greetings,

Thank you for accepting my patch.

Sure, I will gladly do another cleanup to have single lines between functions.

Where should I send the patch once I'm done? This bug seem to have been closed.

I sent an email to the developers list regarding the license. All of my past
future contributions to LibreOffice may be licensed under the MPLv2/LGPLv3+
dual license.

Once I'm familiar with LibreOffice I want to contribute in fixing more advanced
bugs and/or implementing features.
