[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 63551] FORMATTING: Format cell dialogue in Calc wait very long (8 second) to pop up
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=63551 --- Comment #8 from Samson Yeung wingtong...@gmail.com --- Thank you for you guy's information and effort to remove this bug. I have test it on my system - install 4.2.4 and using fc-cache. The situation has been improved a lot but the major problem doesn't disappeared. What 's been improved Formerly, not only the pop up of the formatting dialogue is slow (13s), the operation inside the dialogue is also sluggish, e.g. sluggishly scrolling downward to find an appropriate date format. This situation go away now. What's not been improved On the contrary of what you claimed, I still have to wait for around 10s for the dialogue to pop up. In the very beginning, I believed one of the factors caused the sluggishness Since I use a lot of traditional Chinese fonts (100), I believed they are related. Chinese fonts are different from English one by its size, ranging from 5 to 10M per typeface while english ones are measured in K. After I unload all the chinese fonts except those default fonts installed by ubuntu , the pop-up time of the dialogue box reduced to 3s. Moreover, I don't have this problem for libreoffice in Windows 7 version from the very beginning. Therefore I guessed that the way libreoffice linux read in the fonts when pop up the formatting dialogue is the major cause. Large file size for chinese typeface means a lot of loading works need to be done. But I have no knowledge for the mechanism therefore I get no further comment. In the mean time, I work around the problem with a new excellent feature of libreoffice, the Side Panel. But I am still longing for the removal of this bug so that libreoffice should become more perfect. Finally, I think there are not sufficient asian or chinese open source programmers therefore any problem concerning these locales is difficult to be solved - I have also reported a problem unsolved until today that libredraw messed up pdf containing chinese or 2 byte characters when read in. This will not happen in files contained only english or pictures. Finally I also apologize for I cannot attend the forum discussion til the end for I am engaged in other bussiness. best regards Samson 於 2014年06月05日 星期四 05:02 下午, bugzilla-dae...@freedesktop.org 提到: *Comment # 7 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=63551#c7 on bug 63551 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=63551 from nuageb...@gmail.com mailto:nuageb...@gmail.com * For reference with: LibreOffice Version: 4.2.4.2 on Debian Jessie sudo fc-cache -f -v did reduce the problem from about 9[s] to 1[s]. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 79764] New: Redesign Lightproof options for easier localizability, better ease of use
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=79764 Priority: medium Bug ID: 79764 Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Summary: Redesign Lightproof options for easier localizability, better ease of use Severity: enhancement Classification: Unclassified OS: All Reporter: heinzless...@gmail.com Hardware: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Version: 4.3.0.0.beta2 Component: UI Product: LibreOffice Lightproof's components have many options. Since grammar/style checking is generally both error-prone and dependant on writing style, they will be necessary for the foreseeable future. Currently, there are two major problems with the options layout: + they are displayed on a different options page for each language + the options are displayed on flat pages, despite there being so many of them This leads to + more and more options pages for Lightproof (currently it only checks Hungarian, English Russian, but the selection of languages will likely expand in the future) + an increasing chance of captions of options being cut off in various locales (e.g. French, German, Russian), as the layout of the options becomes more complicated. See bug 78526 for an example. To reproduce: open LibreOffice, go to Tools Options, Language Settings Hungarian Sentence Checking (NOTE: some Linux distributions currently do not ship Lightproof. In this case, the first language in the list should be displayed. + Choosing another language here changes the contents of the options list box + The options page need not be limited to Lightproof modules. It could be possible for it to host the options of other Grammar checkers such as CoGrOO or LanguageTool in the future. If that ever happens, the Language drop-down entries could read e.g. Russian (using Lightproof). + The options list box lists all options of the selected language + It is sorted by category. + The categories can be folded/unfolded. By default, they are unfolded, so the user can instantly access all options. + There is just one column of options throughout, so it can be maximally localized. + If necessary, the options list box is scrollable. https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38513 Michael Meeks michael.me...@collabora.com changed: What|Removed |Added Assignee|libreoffice-b...@lists.free |michael.me...@collabora.com |desktop.org | --- Comment #11 from Michael Meeks michael.me...@collabora.com --- Created attachment 100598 -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=100598action=edit prototype speedup patch So - this is an interesting problem; there are several horribly intermittent performance problems here. It seems that the SfxItemPool management is extremely performance fragile. In particular for non-poolable items - if we happen to add and remove them in the right order (which sadly we do per element in response to SAX callbacks [!] ) - actually just for one type 'SwFmtCharFmt' - I assume because it's an SwClient sub-class then we can either be 'lucky' or not ;-) The basic problem is that if when we add our temporary element there is a hole at the front of the SfxPoolItemArra_Impl vector, then we will add it there, append the new element to the end of the array, and then remove the first element again [ thus forcing a re-scan of the whole array to find the next hole - which is the expensive bit ]. The attached patch uses an unordered_set for the SfxItemPool - that should have a linear cost for add/removes of non-poolable items - and indeed it significantly helps with performance. With this patch I get a 61 second load instead of a 290 second load; which is a win. Of course, inevitably it breaks a unit test as well so not to master. Perhaps there is a simpler / less invasive way. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 74486] FORMATTING: Table border is not saved
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=74486 Cesko cvoeten+freedesk...@gmail.com changed: What|Removed |Added Status|RESOLVED|REOPENED Resolution|WORKSFORME |--- Ever confirmed|0 |1 --- Comment #2 from Cesko cvoeten+freedesk...@gmail.com --- Hi, I'm observing the same problem. If I create a table and adjust its borders (in my case, I change some of the lines to 2pt and the dashed style), Writer complies just fine. If I save my document, close it, and then re-open it, my borders have been reverted to the defaults. The same problem is also observable when attempting to save these new borders for AutoFormat use. I can save the AutoFormat of my brand new border-adjusted table just fine, but the preview does not display my custom borders, and applying the (just created from the same table!) AutoFormat to my table does indeed cause the borders to be reset to defaults. I've re-opened this bug - was that the right course of action? [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 79770] New: Other: The currently selected cell is not recalculated
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=79770 Priority: medium Bug ID: 79770 Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Summary: Other: The currently selected cell is not recalculated Severity: normal Classification: Unclassified OS: Linux (All) Reporter: mjul...@free.fr Hardware: Other Whiteboard: BSA Status: UNCONFIRMED Version: 4.2.4.2 release Component: Spreadsheet Product: LibreOffice Created attachment 100608 -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=100608action=edit Up: select cell with formula and type Ctrl-Shift-F9 = Err:522 in this cell and 0 and several other cells; down: select empty cell and type Ctrl-Shift-F9 = everything is correct. Problem description: The problem happens in a complex spreadsheet (accounting software), with several macros (in Star Basic) using references to large ranges of cells. Sometimes, the cell or the line which is selected is not correctly recalculated, instead it displays N/A or Err:522 Steps to reproduce: Method 1: 1. Open the file 2. Select another sheet of the file Method 2: 1. Type Ctrl-Shift-F9 for unconditional recalculate Method 3: 1. Select a cell (X) in the sheet 2. Go to another sheet of the same file 3. Modify a cell, which has an effect onto X 4. Select back the sheet that contains cell X Current behavior: The cell which is selected contains Err :522. Other cells in the same sheet my contain 0 or N/A instead of their current value. The workaround is to select a cell with no formula and type Ctrl-Shift-F9. Often, the calculation time is also very long when one cell is modified, which may indicate that all cells have been recalculated, not just the cells that depend directly or indirectly on the modified cell. See screenshoots: #1: a cell with a formula was selected when Ctrl-Alt-F9 was typed in. Results: Err:522 in this cell and 0 in many other cells. This is reproducible. #2: an empty cell was selected when Ctrl-Alt-F9 was typed in. Results: everything is correct. This is reproducible too. I may transmit the whole file if required, but only if this is useful, since it must first be anonymized. Expected behavior: When a cell is modified, all the cells that depend directly or indirectly on it should be recalculated. The other cells should not be recalculated, so the computation time should be short when just one cell is modified. The cells in other sheets should not be recalculated until the sheet is selected or the file is saved, unless they have an indirect effect onto the current sheet. When Ctrl-Shift-F9 is typed in, all the cells should be recalculated. No cell should contain Err:522, or 0 or N/A when this is not the correct value. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 73197] Start Center: Recent documents should be resizable
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=73197 V Stuart Foote vstuart.fo...@utsa.edu changed: What|Removed |Added CC||vstuart.fo...@utsa.edu Blocks||65138 --- Comment #4 from V Stuart Foote vstuart.fo...@utsa.edu --- IMHO it would not be worth development cycles (or performance impact) to provide independently resize of thumbnails on the StartCenter. I could envision resizing if it were a simple small - medium -large radio button selection (or similar) widget that could be applied to scale the rendering of ALL recent ODF document thumbnails displayed on the StartCenter. The size setting should then be stateful in user configuration based on the selection. An alternative for dynamic preview (resize to larger rendering) of the ODF thumbnail on mouse-over using an ALT or CTL key trigger might be a desirable GUI feature. Testing Version: 4.3.0.0.beta1 + Ubuntu 12.04.4 The button icons seem decent to me, however when they are docked next to other toolbars it isn't immediately obvious that they are intended for LOGO purposes. For example, the icons for Left and Right look very similar to the icons for Undo and Redo. As for the tooltip text, some of it is rather confusing. There's a button of an empty page with tooltip Clear Screen; it's kind of confusing that pressing that button doesn't clear the screen/page in Writer. One possible solution would be to put a little turtle graphic (e.g. an isosceles triangle) in the corner of each LOGO-related button. I'd also suggest that each tooltip be made more LOGO-descriptive.
