Thanks Ign.
I feel that I don't need the possible grief with daily builds or using past
versions of LO.
I'll stay with (Gasp!) OO.o which currently works as I want, and monitor Bug
81633 until LO 4.4 is released as a stable version. I'll then re-evaluate LO
for our needs.
Thanks again for your help and feedback. Should you wish to try the
"enhancements" with my usage patterns, feel free to email and I'll be happy to
evaluate and report back.

Recently I upgraded HD on Macbook 10.6.8 os x. Used time machine to update new
HD.

Problem:
If using LibreOffice, cal or writer, to open existing file and then saving the
file for the first time in the folder, or exporting pdf, all files in that
folder, the date stamps are change to the same time stamp. This only happens
for the first save operation. After that only the file being saved has time
stamp updated.

Using Time Machine, I restored a test folder so original timestamps were back
intact. Did an export pdf of document to another temporary folder. The dates
were changed in the original home folder and the temporary folder.

Future saves or pdf export of documents in the folder, all timestamps for other
files are preserved. This only happens the first time.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 83830] SIDEBAR: Proposal for the creation of a page tab

> Hi again,

Hey Mirek,

> element gets removed, because the status bar really should be about showing
> status, not setting options.

I think its a convenient way to set it rather than having to go into the
'Styles and Formatting' dialog to do it there. As you feel that the statusbar
shouldnt be used to set status, are you also looking to have the zoom slider
removed.

> Yes, it's also under "Styles and Formatting", but given that this is a Page
> properties panel, the current page style belongs here as well.

This is a page style properties panel for the modification of the current page
style, in the same way that the page style dialog modifies the currently set
page style.

> Though it seems counter-intuitive based on how other styles work, you're
> right.

Yep page styles are a funny thing when you compare it with paragraph and
character styles.

> Why would it take up 2 lines? All that's needed is a button that reads
> "Switch to Portrait Orientation" when in landscape orientation and "Switch
> to Landscape Orientation" when in portrait.

Well i was going with the idea that it was going to be radio buttons, like in
the dialog, but I guess a single clickable button to switch the orientation
will work.

> The benefit here is the much simpler interaction -- a simple click rather
> than click, move mouse, click again.

Yes a single click would always be preferable, though i dont see that click,
move mouse, click again is that much of a disadvantage.

> That's why I said "Paper Format" -- these are properties related to the
> paper you'll be printing on.

Guess this is something we wont agree on. Ultimately, i'm keeping headings as
just single words.

> In the formatting dialog, "Page layout" is an entry under "Layout settings".
> You could do the same thing.

Those labels dont make sense to me, and i'd assume others as well, so i've
chosen not to use them. The words 'Page Layout' can mean a number of things to
a number of people. I'd assume most people would consider 'Page Layout' to be
how things are laid out on the page, similar to how you have slide layout in
impress.

> That's why I suggested to make separate mockups for different modules.
> Writer is primarily about printable pages of text, so it's useful to know
> whether the background will be printed or not (please answer my question
> about that). Impress and Draw tend to be presented on-screen and it
> generally always makes sense to print the slide background along with the
> slide, since it's such an inseparable part of the slide.

As background is used in all modules, there isnt a need to eliminate it from
the writer sidebar. Regarding whether the background color is printed or not,
i'd assume it is printed and not about the paper color, as you can set the
background as an image, a color gradient, etc.

> But the prioritization is different. For example, margins are much more
> important than the page background in Writer, but the opposite is true in
> Impress.

Well the sections could be swapped depending on the use case of a particular
app but i think its best to keep the sidebar looking the same across multiple
apps. We dont reorganize other sidebar content depending on what is used more
in other apps.

G'day Ign.
I'm not smart enough to follow all of Bug 81633 discussion, but yes, it would
appear to be the same problem. Basically, cell references change abnormally
when sorting.
There was some discussion to having references "sticky" (I assume by the use of
the '$' in either the row or column reference) but this is simply not
acceptable for the type of sort we are wanting.

When I have time, I'll make a cut down version and write detailed notes as
requested.

In the meantime, I'll mark as this as a duplicate for the moment and follow Bug
81633

> I like the latest mockup.

Glad you like it and hope you like the latest one more.

> The question is still: should the Page tab be a full replacement/alternative
> to the Format>Page dialog?

It is not possible for it to be a full replacement for the Format > Page dialog
in writer or calc, because the dialog has way to much information that couldnt
be packed into such a small sidebar area. It can replace the dialog in impress
and draw, as they only have 2 tabs in the dialog - page, background.

> IOW, what about accessing the header and footer
> properties, page background, page footnotes, etc?

With new sections for header and footer in the latest mockup, it will be
possible to jump into those particular tabs in the dialog.

> As it is, it seems an half-baked solution which I would avoid to go the
> Format>Page dialog because of the completeness I'm looking for.

You cant please everyone with things added to the sidebar, as you cant fit
everything in it, but you can attempt to fit the most used features. If you
look at the text properties tab, you have sections for character and paragraph.
These sections do not contain everything that is available in the character and
paragraph dialogs, but are still useful rather than opening up those dialogs
for commonly used features.

> Side suggestion: have keyboard shortcuts to call each of the individual the
> Sidebar panels is a requirement.

I think that is a good idea and you should file a new bug enhancement for it.

Sorry that you had to resort to creating an new scratch Unity user

Those fonts (but Source Han Sans) don't have a real "bold" style, so the

Yes the other bug could be the same problem, although it is a different os.

But it still last on. Now I'm sure that it's not depending to the file format.
ods show the same trouble.
A workaround is starting the same file with LO portable (vers. Version:
4.1.1.2). Returning back to the local installation the bug seems to be ending.
But after some new starts it is returning back.
Is there anything to get a better description, logging?

Reproducible for me with version 4.3.3.0.0+ built at home under Ubuntu 14.04

Weird scenario; indeed steps 2-3 copy nothing. Selecting the row 1 and hitting
the Del key delete row 1 content. LO crashes only when I move the mouse pointer
away from the row 1 header. If I do not move the mouse pointer, LO does not
crash.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 84102] New: Expose the level of headings to assistive technologies via object attribute

2014-09-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=84102

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 84102
CC: ja...@nvaccess.org
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Blocks: 36549
Summary: Expose the level of headings to assistive technologies
via object attribute
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: jdi...@igalia.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.3.0.4 release
 Component: Libreoffice
   Product: LibreOffice

LibreOffice paragraphs which are formatted as headings now expose the
accessible role of "heading" (thanks!). The level (1, 2, 3, etc.) does not seem
to be exposed, however.

Sadly this is one of those poorly-/un-documented expectations (sorry!). But the
convention that has emerged, at least for ATK, and which is implemented by
Gecko and WebKitGtk is to expose the level via an object attribute. The name
string is "level" and the value string is the numeric level. See, for instance
[1].

On a related note, this convention might work for the Windows ATs as well.
Gecko tends to expose things fairly similarly to both platforms, so my guess is
that NVDA is already looking at object attributes for heading levels. But just
in case I'm CCing James Teh.

Can confirm this on 4.3.0.4, behavior is the same as described in the bug

Also, it seems that Calc will at times randomly resize cells or even entire
rows to the 10pt height; I can't recall when this started happening but it's
fairly recent (I have been using LO and Calc for years now).

Several versions down to LO 3.5.3.2 showed the same behaviour.

Those text box properties are available only if you copy and paste the whole

But change from Single line to Multi lines make this color issue.

The file that have the bug.

Attached a .doc file, produced with Word 2003, that does not open well in
Writer (tested 4.2.6.3 and 4.3.1.2, windows).

Attached the original file and the PDF obtained from Microsoft Office Word

Hello,

> 'No data' in italian).

There are no data or formatting on page, what do you expect to print/preview? I
think it's correct -> no data means nothing to print.

>
> 2) if i add a sheet (with something written on, or not, make no difference)
> and i go to another sheet (eg, 'id pomeriggio' or 'HLW pomeriggio') and i
> select print preview i get empty preview, eg a gray page with the gray

>
Take a look at Format->Print range-> Edit . Print range is set to -none-
Change it to -entire sheet- and preview is here.

Looks like I found how to -always- reproduce this bug : skip step 2 in comment
0 (don't look into sheet "Ergebnis" before doing step 3)

Reproduced with LO 4.3.2.2, 4.3.1.2, 4.3.0.0.beta1 under Ubuntu 12.04 x86

Can't confirm regression because of import problem in LO 4.2 and 4.1

And I don't know how to repro from scratch with simplified case, strange..

Sorry for the late answer. I've tried also i, Win7 64bit, LO 4.3.1.2.

I can confirm that if i add a sheet, i wrote something and the i go to print
preview, i see something.

But:

1) if i add a sheet, and do a preview, i get empty preview ('Nessun dato', 'No
data' in italian).

2) if i add a sheet (with something written on, or not, make no difference) and
i go to another sheet (eg, 'id pomeriggio' or 'HLW pomeriggio') and i select
print preview i get empty preview, eg a gray page with the gray sentence 'Area
di stampa vuota' ('empty print area' in italian).

So, seems to me that the bug is still here...

If a row becomes very high, different problems appear.

To Test, create a small column (5 cm) in Calc and copy this whole text to into
one field.

https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Lorem_ipsum

After that Calc becomes really slow.

You also can't look at the lower (sometimes also upper) end of the row by
scrolling.

If you print this, the lower end of the field won't be printed at all. Instead
it should be put on the next page.

Reproduced with LO 4.3.2.2, 4.2.7.0.0+ Time: 2014-09-11_14:25:14 under Ubuntu
12.04 x86

Not reproduced with LO 4.3.0.4, 4.2.6.3

Possibly it's because fixing of Bug 81309 that introduce new behavior of
internal sorting.

This is a simple worksheet with two tables in two sheets

In this ods file there are two tables in two sheets ("table" and "derived
table").
The data are entered directly into the table on the first sheet.
In the table of the second sheet ("Derived table"), data are read from the
table of the first sheet in an orderly manner by formulas in order to reproduce
exactly the same table (albeit with a slightly different structure and
formatting).
Ordering the first table, for a key ("N °" or "Position" or "NAME") the derived
table in version 4.2.6 of LibreOffice is automatically ordered too and
preserves the order of the first table, in 4.3 version of LibreOffice order of
the derived table is not changed and are modified the references of the
formulas instead.

STEP 1: Select the table in the first sheet (data - Select area - "DATA")
STEP 2: Order the data in the first table (data - order -
STEP 3: Wiew results in the second sheet

The results are completely different in the two versions of LibreOffice.
I need to keep the order of the first table in the derived tables and I could
not find an alternative way to do it.

I hope this example file allows for easier understanding of the problem.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 84098] New: kill cut+paste in VBA tests ...

2014-09-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=84098

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 84098
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: kill cut+paste in VBA tests ...
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: michael.me...@collabora.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.3.0.2 rc
 Component: BASIC
   Product: LibreOffice

Existing VBA tests in basic/qa/vba_tests involve a depressing amount of
cut/paste coding - in particular of:

Sub TestLog_ASSERT(assertion As Boolean, Optional testId As String, Optional
testComment As String)
...

and:

Dim passCount As Integer
Dim failCount As Integer
Dim result As String

It would be great to create two other small files for these:

sharedVariables.vb
testAsserts.vb

And to tweak:

basic/qa/cppunit/test_vba.cxx

to substitute these into all the other .vb files so we have a consistent set.

It'd be nice to get the OnError handling good too eg.

TestLog_ASSERT (False), "hit error handler - " & Err & ": " & Error$ & "
(line : " & Erl & ")"

So it prints the actual error / line numbers etc. And of course the body of:

Function doUnitTest() As String
result = verify_win32compat()
If failCount <> 0 Then
doUnitTest = result
Else
doUnitTest = "OK"
End If
End Function

To reduce cut/paste to the maximum =)

I'd suggest using %%include sharedvariables.vb%% or somesuch syntax - you'll
need to invent that, there is no pre-proc in VBA =) and impl. it in the unit
test.

Thanks !

Our internal StarBasic / VBA code has the ability to call native functions.
Checkout:

basic/qa/vba_tests/win32compatb.vb

Private Declare Function QueryPerformanceCounter Lib "kernel32"
(lpPerformanceCount As LARGE_INTEGER) As Long

eg. The calling functionality (for windows only) is in:

basic/source/runtime/dllmgr-x86.c

It would be wonderful to have systematic tests here; create a new / test shared
library / DLL on windows that exports a number of the native types, and then
invoke those methods for each type from basic - and check the results =)

Thanks !

Valgrind massif is a heap profiler and is not a memory leak detector. You need
to use valgrind --tool=memcheck --leak-check=full to detect memory leak.

What you describe is more accurately referred to as "space leak", which is not
the same as memory leak.

This task is about removing maUniName from include/oox/token/tokenmap.hxx
which stores the same content as maUtf8Name in another form and is used mostly
for debugging purposes only.
Where TokenMap::getUnicodeTokenName was used, one can use
TokenMap::getUtf8TokenName

Remove maUniName from struct TokenName, that struct can then also die, and do
following simplifications / adaptations.

We used to spend 10m pseudo cycles in TokenMap constructor, this should save
about a half of that.

The statusbar is a terrible place to set the page style at -- I hope that
element gets removed, because the status bar really should be about showing
status, not setting options.

Yes, it's also under "Styles and Formatting", but given that this is a Page
properties panel, the current page style belongs here as well.

Though it seems counter-intuitive based on how other styles work, you're right.

Why would it take up 2 lines? All that's needed is a button that reads "Switch
to Portrait Orientation" when in landscape orientation and "Switch to Landscape
Orientation" when in portrait.

The benefit here is the much simpler interaction -- a simple click rather than
click, move mouse, click again.

That's why I said "Paper Format" -- these are properties related to the paper
you'll be printing on.

In the formatting dialog, "Page layout" is an entry under "Layout settings".
You could do the same thing.

That's why I suggested to make separate mockups for different modules. Writer
is primarily about printable pages of text, so it's useful to know whether the
background will be printed or not (please answer my question about that).
Impress and Draw tend to be presented on-screen and it generally always makes
sense to print the slide background along with the slide, since it's such an
inseparable part of the slide.

But the prioritization is different. For example, margins are much more
important than the page background in Writer, but the opposite is true in
Impress.
