[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 68566] EDITING: Cross references between tables / cell data broken

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68566

--- Comment #19 from MICKRU i...@michael-krueger.org ---
Fair enough - I do not understand what the original bug was. It can't be that
the bug is that one feels that its unexpected that referenced cells worked as
in 4.2.6 which was that sorting was updating references. Because that to me is
not a bug but was expected behavior ...

--- Comment #6 from Zhong Qiyao lo...@ms2.url.com.tw ---
Dear Owen and Tommy,

I am using MingLiU, not PMingLiU. When MingLiU sees a mis-placed
charecter (see below), PMingLiU and MS Mincho (Japanese) do not seem to.

Please open the attachment file used to show the problem.
It has the original file (created in 3.6.2 as a new file, but
text pasted in using 4.2.1 or 4.3.2), PDF exports, and JPG exported
from the PDF (having the same look as the PDF).

Because the unicode music flat sign appears the same in all three fonts,
font substitution may have been used. Is there a way to find out which font
is being used, or which is the proper font to display the character?

On LibreOffice 3.6.2, this character has a wider space around it.
But 3.6.2 is the most stable version. On LibreOffice 4.2.1 and 4.3.2,
the character has a more natural size of space around it, but
it may be displayed with two looks, one with a larger loop, and one
with a smaller loop.

On LibreOffice 4.2.1 and 4.3.2, the problem is the same, but not constent.
It does not happen every time, sometimes different places on the same
document, sometimes different openings of the same file. Sometimes,
the problem disappears if you change the font size (and change back), or
rescale the display ratio of the document (and rescale back).
So, it may be a problem of the UI rendering engine, which seems to be also
used by PDF export.

The follow problems may happen, but not every time.

1. Becomes a rectangle (not necessary the bold font).
2. Becomes mis-placed. When this happens, the character has a smaller loop
that when it is displayed normally (a different substitution font may have
been used). If you copy text from the mis-placed
PDF, and paste, then the flat character goes to the end of the line.

Thanks.

Qiyao

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 84785] New: Writer: dot above or dot below, exported to PDF, is a little too high and a little to the left

2014-10-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=84785

Bug ID: 84785
Summary: Writer: dot above or dot below, exported to PDF, is a
little too high and a little to the left
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.3.2.2 release
  Hardware: Other
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: lo...@ms2.url.com.tw

Version of LibreOffice: 3.6.2 or 4.3.2
Language of Libreoffice: Chinese (traditional)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7
Language of Operating System: Chinese (traditional)

I may have reported previously either in LibreOffice or OpenOffice
that for a character with dot above, if exported to PDF, the dot
is too far away (hits the underang of letters on the line above it)
and a little bit to the left (looks a little misaligned),
but I could not find my own previous submission of the problem.

Now, actually, both for dot above and dot below, the exported PDF
file has the dot a little too high and a little to the left of its
original position. That is, those dot above is a little farther,
and those dots below are a little nearer, than their original positions.
If you set line spacing to 1.5 lines, then the export can be viewed without
much problem.

1. Type any letter or digit.

2. Select Format Character Effect Highlight Dot Above or Dot Below.

3. Export to PDF.

Thanks.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 68566] EDITING: Cross references between tables / cell data broken

--- Comment #20 from Jean-Baptiste Faure jbfa...@libreoffice.org ---
(In reply to Joel Madero from comment #18)
This is literally like asking for a bug to be reintroduced into
LibreOfficeKohei was nice enough to add an option for users to bring the
bug back if they so choose.

I disagree. It is _not always_ a bug. The difficulty is to know when in which
case it is a bug and in which case it is a feature. That is the reason why a
configuration option was necessary. Please try again my test file in bug 81633.

I asked the ESC to consider the decision to revert this commit for branches 4.2
and 4.3.

Best regards. JBF

   What|Removed |Added

 Resolution|NOTOURBUG |---

--- Comment #7 from Sooraj Kenoth soorajken...@gmail.com ---
(In reply to Jay Philips from comment #6)

Sorry for the late reply. I was trying to solve this issue from the font
developer side. According their arguments, underlining is not a part of glyph.
They are simple lines. The designers usually set only guide line or notional
markings to define the position and width of underline. The actual decision has
to be taken by the document processor or the application which uses the font. I
agree with these arguments. Because the shape, size and position of underline
is defined by the document and not by the font.

The position and size of an underline depend on the settings in the font
which mention where the underline must go as well as how thick it should be,
so yes the zigzag would be a normally thing if you have the same font but
with different font sizes and font formatting (bold, italics, etc).

This what I am trying communicate. According to my current knowledge level this
is a bug.

If you find that libreoffice's font behavior is different from other word
processor on linux (calligra words, abiword, etc) or different between
libreoffice versions, we would be able to investigate that issue.

I didn't check it with other word processors. But I found this as a very common
but a serious issue. Also I think libreoffice is much more than a simple word
processor. I am from Kerala, India. In our context multilingual document is
fairly common. Almost all local language document will contain at least one
more language generally it is English, especially while writing abbreviations
or technical terms.

Some older posts on same issue,
https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7t=31726
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68573
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=89284

For the time being I found a work around for this. But is not a solution. In
Libreoffice4.2 there is a feature called character border in character
settings. There I can create a border only at bottom position, then it will
look like an underline, with adjustable position and size. I just created two
styles, one with border at bottom and other without any border. Also set two
short-cuts to apply these styles. But this has lot of limitations.

I wish the libreoffice team will take forward this issue.

@Bert: First: Maybe you calm down, read the first post and last but not least
think before you post. You are invited to scan some old books with German
Fraktur letters, OCR them and correct them in OO and tell me after it how
easy things go with activated and deactivated or blue and black NPC.
This is a comment for feature requests and bug reports and not a place for
unloading frustration. I am very happy about this and there are obvisiously
more people like me. And if you don't need or like it just customize it black.
That's what I asked for. Where is your problem? Software has changed the last
30 years otherwise we would still use typing machines... that's called
progress. I hated the black NPC since I started using word processors back in
Win 3.11.
I can understand that there are other bugs that need maintenance but that's the
way it is. And there are bugs taking months to be corrected and feature
requests fixed in seconds.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 65097] EDITING: Searching sheet backward and upward improvement

2014-10-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=65097

--- Comment #5 from Ljiljan lili...@gmail.com ---
My idea was to add additional feature (and not to remove existing one). When I
am searching for some data in table, I don't care in which direction search is
going (up or down) - I want to find the data in my spreadsheet.

The problem with current search is that it starts in current cells and continue
to the end. That dialog appear asking me to start from beginning. I wish LO
team could add aditional button in LO Search toolbar (shortcut CTRL + Enter) so
it search for phrase/ data in all directions. After the searching is done (in
BOTH DIRECTION), dialog searching is done could be shown. There is really no
need for asking me to start from beginning. It could be a dialog, but there are
another ways of informing you.

Secondly, speardsheets are not primarly used to make make financial decisions.
It could be used in many different situation as well (such as statistical
analysis of non-financial data, making lists in generals, making non-financial
decisions etc...)

Scoping this bug clearly only on the missing deps for KDE thanks to the
 excellent summary in comment 59.

...which has become moot with

Re: X-KDE-Protocols=...,smb,...:

Unfortunately, the fact that Dolphin will communicate documents on smb shares
with LO via /var/tmp proxy files again now (see above), will re-open [this bug]
again---if you modify such a document in LO, Dolphin will ask you whether it
shall upload it again only after you close LO (cf.
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39591#c6).

I didn't anticipate that launchpad would remove the bug report before it
 would be resolved.

Launchpad did nothing like that. However the bug was filed as an private issue
on launchpad and thus the data is not public. If you want your data to be
accessible, dont file bugs in private. Thanks.

2014-10-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=84797

Bug ID: 84797
Summary: RTL: text string in text frame object is reversed
when saving PDF document
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.3.2.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: medium
 Component: Libreoffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ati...@live.com

Created attachment 107546
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=107546action=edit
PDF with RTL text in text frame. Text appears reversed, each save/open
iteration reverses the text strings.

Open a PDF document that contains a text frame with RTL text. Note the order of
the text string, for example ABCDEFG. Save as PDF, and open the saved
document. The order of the text string will be reversed, GFEDCBA.

Sample PDF attached.

 Not happening for me unfortunately.

 a) is view-non.printing.characters on or off, does it make a difference if
 its on or off ?

it's on, so the non-printable characters are shown

switching it off (so the line breaks / paragraph marks are not shown anymore)
does not change anything.

Changing the frontend from kde to gen or gtk also does not change anything.

 b) what's the output of fc-match -v Arial ?

Hello sorry for the late delay.

The bug only happens when working on our large price list and we don't update
it that often.

However it just happend to me again and I can now provide an mostly anonymized
document.

Download example document:
http://www.file-upload.net/download-9643203/Temp-Bug.zip.html

Password is LibOBug

To answer your questions:

a. Windows 7 x64 SP1 with latest updates + LibreOffice 4.3.2

b. I don't know how to reproduce the problem, however in the document provided
the bug has already happened. It seems like when opening a file images where
the position is NOT fixed sometimes get stretched.

You can find two stretched images in line 135 and 141 in the document. They are
stretched vertically and are now the size of two cells.

Also on another note: The bounding box which you see when dragging an image
is completely off. The file looks correct but if you preview it, print it etc.
you will see that the image positions are completely off. Basically the
document is ruined.

I'm sorry if I can't give a way to reproduce this bug, it happens just too
random. Maybe you can work on the document a bit, resize images, remove some
lines etc and then save and reopen the document. Sometimes other images will be
stretched.

at the bottom of the stack we have m_aDataArray.clear() but *mile* up the stack
in frame 110 we have...

m_aDataArray.push_back(Item());
Item rItem = m_aDataArray.back();
rItem.maString = m_pDocument-GetString(aAdr);

so during the GetString the m_aDataArray is cleared, so rItem is no longer
valid and we cannot assign to it anymore legally

   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.3.1.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED

The picture in the upper left corner is scaled and cut back different

A writer document created in a Windows graphic environment scaled to 100% looks
different on a system scaled to 125% or 150%. This is evil because it`s hard to
find the failure and many people won`t recognize they have a wrong looking
version of a document. I recognized the issue because I had pictures in a
document scaled and cut back different when using on OS with different scaling.

Version: 4.3.2.2
Build ID: edfb5295ba211bd31ad47d0bad0118690f76407d

We'll assume that your LibreOffice installation went correctly, i.e. Run as
Administrator and not done in parallel as an /A administrative install.

Have you configured Taskbar and Start Menu properties on the Start Menu tab,
checking in the Privacy box one of the display options -- Start Menu, or Start
Menu and Taskbar. Also, with the Customize button to open its dialog and
checked that Recent items is selected and that at the bottom set the spinner
Number of recent items to show in jump lists?

Then, for the Start Menu launchers for LibreOffice, have you pinned them to the
Start Menu (the jump list will be the right pointing triangle) or to the
Taskbar (where the jump list will be the popup context menu listing).

Finally, rework for the Jump lists was done under bug 35785. This issue was
closed as a duplicate of that bug. Please review its specifics of configuration
and function of the Jump lists.

This guy:

is vitally important for vim users, and we have an emacs version at the head of
each file that's intended - so I'd leave those alone ;-)

TinderBox: Win-x86@39, Branch:master, Time: 2014-09-16_05:01:30

I compared contents of content.xml in a document with a single cell table
a) before any background applied
b) Background to cell applied in AOO 4.1.1
c) Background to cell applied in LibreOffice 4.4.0.0.alpha0+

In the affected document source code area I can not see any difference between
a and c. So the problem seems to be in UI: Apply Background color dooes
nothing. I see this problem for Apply to cell and Apply to Row, but Apply
to Table works fine.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 80960] EDITING Opening file doesn't place the cursor on the last position of editing

2014-10-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=80960

--- Comment #17 from Olibuntu olibu...@arcor.de ---
(In reply to Jan Holesovsky from comment #3)
For the record, the last cursor position is stored in

 config:config-item config:name=ViewLeft
 config:config-item config:name=ViewTop

 in settings.xml.

I saved a document in 4.3 and opened it with 4.2: the cursor was at the top
although I saved it with a different cursor position.

Then I moved the cursor somewhere else and saved the document in 4.2. After
reopening the document in 4.2 the cursor was correctly at the stored position.

Afterwards I compared the two instances of settings.xml and realized the
following: In 4.2 the config items ViewLeft etc. were of type int, whereas
in 4.3 they were of type long. (More precisely, all items of type int in
4.2 were of type long in 4.3.)

Then, for the hack of it, I replaced all occurences of int with long and
4.2 opened the document at the right cursor position saved by 4.3 (although the
display of pages was a bit bizarre).

Maybe this can give a hint at where the bug is?

--- Comment #2 from Jan Holesovsky ke...@collabora.com ---
The sidebar uses the widget layout technique, so I wouldn't be that
pessimistic; I guess worth trying as an Easy Hack, and then let's see.

* the setting if the current symbols are large can be obtained via:

  SvtMiscOptions().AreCurrentSymbolsLarge()

* the sidebar toolbars that are created via .ui files are created in
  vcl/source/window/builder.cxx, search for GtkToolbar

* with that in mind, calling SetToolboxButtonSize() on the newly created
ToolBox
in builder.cxx should hopefully do it :-)

That should be enough for testing; if it proves to be a good change, then it of
course needs testing whether it changes the size when the user changes the
settings (I suspect not, but maybe I am wrong), etc.

--- Comment #3 from V Stuart Foote vstuart.fo...@utsa.edu ---
Each of these are problem OOXML .PPTX files that LibreOffice has issues with
opening and rendering. So, in reality they are not representative of the
handling of Thumbnail views in the StartCenter.

On Windows 7 sp1, 64-bit en-US with
Version: 4.3.2.2
Build ID: edfb5295ba211bd31ad47d0bad0118690f76407d

A .PPTX or .PPT file opened correctly in LibreOffice records a Thumbnail image
into the users' registrymodifications.xcu as a recent document entry. That
image is parsed and rendered in the Thumbnail view panel of the Start Center.

That all functions correctly.

Closing.

Ubuntu 14.04 x64
LibreOffice 4.3.2.2 release (changing version as our version field is oldest
version confirmed on, not latest that it's been seen on)

New

Minor - won't prevent high quality work but can slow it down
Low - default for minor bugs - you can just delete the left over table and
continue working.

Going to test it against older releases now

Hi Aronsoyol - I really suggest emailing the dev mailing list as it's likely to
get a better response than reporting build errors on the bug tracker. There are
a hundred commits a day, try to pull again and build again. FWIW I haven't had
any build problems on 14.04 in some time.

You can also join the dev IRC Chat to ask for live help. If you're able to
resolve it please set this bug to RESOLVED - WORKSFORME

So I'm running Linux and I kind of guessed at how you're sorting. Please note
the other issue (the data mismatch) should be reported separately.

I see no crash. What I did is added some extra text, did not save, highlight
A3:G89, then I clicked the icon in the toolbar that is sort A-Z, sorted fine,
then I did sort Z-A. I see no crash at all.

Ubuntu 14.04
LibreOffice 4.3.2.2 release

If you're doing some other method of sorting please provide simple (as simple
as possible) reproducible steps that are enumerated. QA has to read thousands
of bug reports - having to dig through paragraphs of text to figure out the
reproducible steps makes it a lot harder. Thanks!

Hey Davide -

So what I can see is that if you tap on your device (the one with the remote)
then it skips the hidden slide. If you swipe it shows the hidden slide. For me
this is kind of a feature since now you have the option to see the hidden slide
if you choose, but you can skip by tapping.

Your thoughts?

I´ll just jump in because I got a similar question today.

Customer uses MAC OS (I don´t know the exact version) and LibreOffice since 3
years.
Now he has updated to LibO Version 4.2.6.2 and now all is Mail-merge documents
doesn´t work any more.

Reason: in former version LibO uses german translated field names - and all
mail-merge fields are now fixed to these names.
the actual version now uses englisch field-names - so merging is not possible.

I added an aktual sceenshot witch may explain the differenz.

So the question is: What was changed?
