The delay is visible with a 99MB presentation (over 100 slides), which is opened by LibreOffice 4.4.3.1 in less than 5 seconds and by LibreOffice 5.0 Alpha in over 40 seconds. The problem occurs both with and without the -compatiblekbd switch for turbovnc. Perhaps LibreOffice is assuming the existence of certain files or features that may not be present under VNC. So, I ran the installer again and picked Modify to add the missing dictionary. It had already been selected, but I ran the process anyway. Still, no spell checker, so I had a look at the extensions and it was indeed missing. (That should still have a GUI preferences option to not have it show at all no matter what any so-called UX experts think.) The original bug report was that that the bug didn't appear on 32-bit LO running on Debian Linux. I can't confirm it on 32-bit anymore because I don't run 32-bit OS anymore. Since then, that machine has been replaced with 64-bit system, and when I switch to full-screen view on it, both the Full Screen toolbar and the Find box disappear. (Which is good, but it would still be user-friendly to have a GUI preference setting to display the Find bar on full screen mode.) The same LO version on the 64-bit system (#2) that is ALSO using the modified LibreOffice configuration file insists on cluttering the full view screen with the useless Full Screen toolbar. I guess I need to go through the incredibly - AND I THINK DELIBERATELY - unreadable/unusable LO config file format carefully and make sure I made the exact same changes. I know the UX team thinks that's wonderful, but I COMPLETELY DISAGREE. A single user setting preference is all that's needed to fix things. Oh, but I guess the UX team is also that of the Gnome desktop environment, which seems to think that REMOVING functionality is the basic principle of UX design. Anyway, I'm changing this bug to RESOLVLED WONTFIX because that is exactly what's happening. I have a remote non-SSH connection to a local LAN mysql instance (not MariaDB) to which I connect from a Mac, and although I don't have as many records, I don't see a noticeable performance hit when scrolling through a resultset of all records of a table containg 75 columns by 4400 tuples. Note that each tuple is identified by an AUTO_INCREMENT NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY definition, guaranteeing uniqueness. I also use the native mysql connector. While Writer shows the header on every page, there is only one instance of the data. Any comments would only have one instance to reference. I did some experimenting with First Page Headers and a page break on a page with an existing comment in the header. Enjoy. 1. New Text Document. 2. Insert Page Break. 3. Insert Header → Default Style. 4. Type “Test Header” in header. 5. On page 2, place cursor in header at end of text. 6. Insert → Comment. 7. Type “test1” in comment. Result: Comment is now attached to header on page 1. 8. Format Header on page 1. 9. Uncheck Same content on first page. Result: Comment also appears on page 2 header. 10. Place cursor on page 2. 11. Insert Page Break. Result: Comment stays with header on page 3. 12. Save, close, and reopen document. Result: In Navigator, only one comment shows. 13. Click on comment in Navigator. Result: Crash. I got a SEH Access Violation one time after reopening. I think. The dialogue was there then gone. After one crash, I lost some of my LO settings. The Navigator was floating instead of docked. The interface style changed from Sifr back to default Tango. The Siderbar was visible even though I had it closed. I could not get it to crash with Windbg. If you change the First Page Header back to Default then the comment disappears. It will briefly appear and disappear when opening the document. Changing the header back to First Page Header once again shows the comment. This is consistent with different header styles as there would be different data in the styles.xml.
