Without this commit I am not able to reproduce bug 78111, and with this commit I reproduce it. Note: bug 78111 has not been explicitly fixed by a commit, it has been closed as WorksForMe. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92283] New: UI: property sidebar is not up to substituting the line and fill toolbar with respect to line width
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92283 Bug ID: 92283 Summary: UI: property sidebar is not up to substituting the line and fill toolbar with respect to line width Product: LibreOffice Version: unspecified Hardware: Other OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Draw Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: sergio.calleg...@gmail.com In LibO 5.0 RC, the line and fill toolbar appears to be disabled by default. The rationale for this decision is probably that the property sidebar should completely substitute for it. Unfortunately, it does not, appearing rather immature and causing operations that were quite easy to accomplish with the toolbar to become much more complex. A notable issue is with line width/thickness. 1) With the toolbar, the thickness is expressed using whatever measurement unit the user prefers to work with. With the properties sidebar, the thickness is always expressed in points, whatever the adopted measurement unit. This is a serious impairment to technical drawing where different types of lines must have different thickness values and the standard thickness values are expressed using metric or imperial units, not points. For instance, in Europe a standard outline is 0.20 mm. To get such a line width, now one has to remember that there are 72 points per inch and compute 0.20 mm / 25.4 inches/mm * 72 pt/inch = 0.56 pt 2) With the properties sidebar, entering custom line widths with some accuracy is impossible, as the text box only keeps a single decimal. With reference to the previous example, entering 0.56 pt results in 0.6 pt that is 0.21 mm 3) At least with LibO 5.0RC1, using the property sidebar and the custom line width text box causes LibO to crash rather often. The above is not to say that LibO should stick with the traditional line and fill toolbar, but that the switch to the property sidebar should be made when the sidebar does not introduce significant regressions with respect to the traditional toolbar. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92256 --- Comment #8 from Thorsten Behrens t...@libreoffice.org --- (In reply to Christoph Lutz from comment #7) Interesting question. Is this requirement met? For interoperability, if the Ref text includes a sheet name, evaluators should be able to parse both, the “.” dot and the “!” exclamation mark, as the sheet name separator. The standard says 'should', not 'shall'. Which means: Should: Within normative text, should indicates that among several possibilities one is recommended as particularly suitable, without mentioning or excluding others, or that a certain course of action is preferred but not necessarily required.(ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2). [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 37534] [FORMATTING] Table of Contents does not apply Numbering followed by property
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37534 --- Comment #13 from Gordo gordon1dr...@yahoo.com --- Right click on table of contents - Edit Index/Table - Entries tab and add spaces or Tab Stop to Text box between Chapter number and Entry in the Structure for the different levels works too. I am not so sure that the tab stops should be carried over because the Position tab in Outline Numbering is for how the headings should be positioned in the text while the Numbering tab is for the content to be added to the heading. The indents do not carry over as well because the table of contents uses it own paragraph styles and structure. So maybe this bug report should be an enhancement. The tab stops and spaces could be added automatically to the Structure on the Entries tab. That way they can be altered or deleted. The tab stop would have to take into account the Before and After Separator when calculating from the left margin or paragraph style indent. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92286] New: UI: Do not select automatically the first recent typeface
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92286 Bug ID: 92286 Summary: UI: Do not select automatically the first recent typeface Product: LibreOffice Version: 3.5.7.2 release Hardware: Other OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: UI Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: franciscoadriansanc...@gmail.com The introduction of the recently used typefaces is in my opinion a very useful feature. This, plus the fact that English isn't my mother tongue, makes it a little difficult to explain to me. Suppose you are editing a document, like and ODT. You are using typeface A on it. You want to use now typeface B as direct formatting [1]. If you click on the dropdown font menu, the first of the recently used typefaces (suppose: C) is automatically selected. In my opinion the selected typeface, shown in the typeface box, should be the actual typeface and not the first of the recently used. Maybe the problem is how LibO estimates the recently used typefaces. Probably, if I'm using typeface A, the first recently used typeface should be A, not C. The problem now is that, if my click was accidental and I click on the document again to close scape that modification, the selected typeface remains C. And if I accidentally press enter, the format is applied. Steps may be different in some cases, like, if the last used typeface is also the one present in the document. Steps: 0) You should use a typeface different from the first of the recently used. This happens to me frequently if I open my predefined template which has A set in the Default style, but recently I have applied typeface C as direct formatting. Also, this may happen between different apps, like creating a new text file, but having applied typeface C as direct formatting in a presentation. 1) create a new doc, which is set with typeface A (like ODT) 2) click the typeface dropdown button Result: the first of the recently used typefaces (C) appears automatically selected. Expected: the actual typeface is selected. 3) Click outside the dropdown menu Result: The selected type remains C, even if I wasn't intended to use C. Expected: After click outside the dropdown menu, the typeface shown in the textbox is the originally shown before I clicked it. Workaround: click a second time outside the dropdown button. [1] Because LibO allows you to do that, even though I also use styles a lot in general. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92256] INDIRECT function lost interoperabilty with calc documents migrated by OOo3.2.1
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92256 --- Comment #9 from Katarina Behrens (CIB) katarina.behr...@cib.de --- The status quo (INDIRECT function uses preferred formula syntax from the global settings and it is not possible to mix two different types of syntax in one document) is The Right Thing (TM) to do from the developers' and interoperability perspective. For the user, I can understand that in comparison with the past version ( 4.0 ) this can be viewed as regression, as in their documents, there's suddenly #REF! error message where their formulas used to be. It's just that those older versions of LibO were bug-compatible In both cases 1) and 2) we optionally try to recognize potential feature loss during Excel-export and warn the user. We could for example show a popup warning message and link to some help texts that describe how to avoid feature loss. Please no popup warnings, it's really a bad UX style ... 3) Don't evaluate both variants at the same time, but switch the syntax-format automatically. Indicators could be: * If it is an Excel-Document (.xlsx, .xls), set Excel A1 Actually we already have this solution in place ( http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=158b50763962f66515062300e265839828463efa ) for xls[x] documents produced by MS Office It can't be done for ODF on filter level, sadly, as after the original Excel document has been saved (by whichever app) as ODF, no one can really tell it was an Excel document before. * In case of ODS-Documents, read setting from a new (LO specific) metadata-flag or fallback to default Calc A1 We could then add the ability to write this (LO specific) metadata-flag according to the current formular-syntax setting in tools-options (on save) Yep, saving producent's string ref syntax (as a metadata flag, possibly in document settings) and using that syntax when loading the document would be a solution. It would however not repair existing documents automatically, some form of user intervention or another would be required in any case. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the more I think about this issue, the more it seems to me that the best course of action here is to document the incompatibility (some errata? release notes?) and educate the users how can they repair their documents -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
