[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92485] New: Feature Descriptions are unhelpful

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 72704] Other: Bad encoding in bundled PT Serif font (currency symbols)
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=72704 --- Comment #11 from dlas...@frontiernet.net --- Still present in 4.4.4 (Windows) As of Unicode 8.0, there are now *eight* other currency symbols that PT Serif shows as ₽ (Ruble Sign): U+20B6, Livre Tournois Sign U+20B7, Spesmilo Sign U+20B8, Tenge Sign U+20B9, Indian Rupee Sign U+20BA, Turkish Lira Sign U+20BB, Nordic Mark Sign U+20BC, Manat Sign U+20BE, Lari Sign Frankly, I don't see why PT Serif is worth keeping. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92107] Can not adjust the width of single-column index (Table of Contents)
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92107 --- Comment #8 from Jim Avera jim.av...@gmail.com --- Kevin, I disagree because changing the Page Format does not work unless the TOC is on a page by itself (see comment #2). The obvious controls to adjust the column width should Just Work. Gordo, The truncation-inside-frame problem is related to something (unknown) in my specific file, which I will attach. Maybe someone can figure out what is corrupted, or if I committed a cockpit error, which causes the page numbers to not be visible when a TOC is inside a frame. - Please see attached truncation.odt and truncation_screenshot.odt P.S. I *have* fiddled with the TOC styles, including changing tab stops. However I can't see anything which should cause right-adjusting tabs to not stop at the edge of the containing frame (and even by default the tab stops are beyond the frame width). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 88402] Sorting setting Range contains column labels is forgotten every time a sort completes
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=88402 --- Comment #31 from Aprax r...@jwcca.com --- (In reply to Laurent BP from comment #29) @Aprax: You need to click inside the data range to be sorted first. 1) Open file 2) Click inside data range but make no selection 3) Data Sort 4) Select criteria, OK 5) File Save 6) File Reload 7) Data Sort Options are remembered. If you agree with this procedure, please set the status of the bug as Resolved Works for me OK, 1) I opened my test case 2) I clicked in cell C7 because it has data. 3) Data Sort 4) Sort key 1 was column C (and Range contains column labels was ticked) 5) I defined Sort keys 2 3 and clicked OK 6) I closed with option to Save 7) I opened and cell C7 is still 'chosen' but not by me clicking in it this time. 8) Data Sort 9) yes, the options have been remembered. 10) I opened my real life spreadsheet without going into step-by-step, the Range contains column labels would not be 'remembered' and that's my issue. 11) I created a new, empty file and then copied from the live file by selecting all the cells in 821 rows x Z columns, Copy/Paste and tried the sort It had slightly different results. Initially Sort key 1 offered values of Row 1 to Row 821 when the Range contains column labels was unticked but once it was ticked, Sort key 1 contained the correct Label. However Sort key 2 options were the label for column A or the contents of column A. I discovered that was because the Direction had been selected as left to right (sort columns) which I've NEVER used. Once that was change to sort by rows, I could select the Sort keys 2 3, and then Closed and re-opened the file and lo and behold, the Range contains column labels was not 'remembered'. So, I'm going to try to attach my real sheet for you to see what happens. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

For 1-column paragraph, the total width is 100% of the page. On a A4 paper with a 2cm left and right margin, the width is 17 cm, you are not able to adjust it. For 2-column TOC, total total width may be 17cm ( = width of the page) while you can set two columns to be 8.5/8.5, 8.0/9.0, 7.5/9.5 etc. (When you increase one of them, the another one automatically decreases) If you want to set the width of the whole TOC area, you have to set the page margin. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=88402 --- Comment #33 from Laurent BP jumbo4...@yahoo.fr --- The problem with your document attachment 116987 is in cell L1: if you want it as a label, it must be text not value. Solution: 1) move L1 outside your data range to sort, for instance AB1 (keep at least 1 empty column with your data), 2) enter a label in L1 3) click in a cell inside your data 4) Data Sort Range contains column labels is ticked and criteria are remembered. OR, AND, XOR, IFERROR and IFNA are not affected. - behavior of formula =IF(TRUE();true;false) when copy-pasted is CORRECT - behavior of formula =IF(EXACT(LEFT(B2;10);complement);true;false) when copy-pasted is INCORRECT - behavior of formula =IF(EXACT(same;same);true;false) when copy-pasted is CORRECT - behavior of formula =EXACT(LEFT(B2;10);complement) when copy-pasted is INCORRECT - behevior of formula =EXACT(LEFT(B2;10);complement) when copy-pasted from one sheet to another from the same file, or simply copied in the same file, is CORRECT So, bug come from EXACT(;) function, not from IF(;;) ! EXACT() returns systematically FALSE() when cell is copied or cell's sheet is copied from one file to another, but not in the same document. From there, I think it is out of my competences. I consider changing the title of the bug, but I am not really familiar with conditions needed to do so. Is it okay ? Does this need a higher importance, too ? And is it confirmed on other versions of LO ? (simple test is using =IF(EXACT(same;same);true;false) formula) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

So do you have a preference here? I think the change is good. I changed it from 'Freeze Panes' to 'Freeze Rows and Columns' as i'd assume most people would know what panes are, me included. :D Maybe it helps. But as many items: people have to learn what it is first. The position in View rather then Window does not change that. So are the 3 calculate items correct to place under Data? In fact it is a mixed group, about calculation and auto-Input. And AutoImput is really a tool :) So you okay with moving AutoInput to Tools and keeping the rest under Data? I think it would be OK below Autocorrect options yes. It is not as cluttered as most menus as it has 20 items in it, while the sheet menu has 25 items in it. The menu had 16 items in it before i made changes to it. It adds cluttering because Filter is mentioned twice in the main menu. It hurts to my eyes. May be only me? (No others interested in Cal ?) Well i'm hoping you never open the File menu, as save is mentioned 4 times. :D That is a wrong argument. In other menu's where items are repeated, _all_ the items are in the same menu, and not some in the menu and some in a submenu. Not yet, no. But again we face a situation where part of the entries can be considered to apply for sheets as well as for different components, I'm afraid. Yes that is always a challenge, so we try to make the best possible that fits best. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 88402] Sorting setting Range contains column labels is forgotten every time a sort completes
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=88402 --- Comment #34 from Aprax r...@jwcca.com --- (In reply to Laurent BP from comment #33) The problem with your document attachment 116987 [details] is in cell L1: if you want it as a label, it must be text not value. Solution: 1) move L1 outside your data range to sort, for instance AB1 (keep at least 1 empty column with your data), 2) enter a label in L1 3) click in a cell inside your data 4) Data Sort Range contains column labels is ticked and criteria are remembered. The behavior is the same with LibO 4.0.6. So, from my point of view there is no regression, no bug. Change status of the bug if you agree. I put the value in cell Z1 I changed the formula in column L and gave it a text label. I did the sort and saw that the 3 columns had been remembered but the Sort keys still showed the letters rather than the Labels and Range contains column labels refused to be remembered, so I have to go back to my original complaint that it used to work but no longer works and is a bug that needs to be fixed. I'll believe you when you say you can get the correct results on your system. But I can't get the same results. And I'm not trying to be difficult, I've been willing to try things that you've suggested but unfortunately none of the suggestions have been able to resolve the issue. The fallback is simply that whenever I sort, I now have to go through an extra step to tick the Range contains column labels when before it wasn't necessary, now with the risk that should I forget, I then have to find the Label row and put it back at the row 1 again. I thank you for your time, you've tried very hard and I appreciate that. I just remain frustrated, I just can't fathom why a simple thing like a tick for Range contains column labels can't be remembered under every circumstance (when I don't change anything else.). If, and that's a really big IF, there's now, with V4, a 'something else' that influences this behavior/issue, i.e. prevents it from being rememberd or auto unticks it when starting a sort, then again, that other something introduced a bug. Once I put a tick into a box, I expect that tick to be permanent until I remove it (which I'll never do). These files were created in V3 and 'converted' to V4 if in fact there was a 'conversion' I didn't 'see' it. As a final suggestion, can you take the time to test with V3? I was using V3.4.5 up until I installed V4.0.4 on 2013-06-23 which is when I discovered this issue. Of course that might not be possible due to other features added to LO, possibly conditional formatting and such, i.e. V3 might get very mixed up with a file from V4 Thanks, but still a bug :), sorry. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 91820] Reorganization of the menu bar for Calc
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91820 --- Comment #12 from Cor Nouws c...@nouenoff.nl --- Hi Jay, Eike, (In reply to Yousuf (Jay) Philips from comment #10) Glad to get your input on this as you the calc maintainer. :D (In reply to Eike Rathke from comment #9) * Sheet * Fill Cells * Was in the Edit menu as Fill. * Makes more sense in the Edit menu, because filling cells is an edit action, not a sheet action. Pretty much everything that is done in calc involves edit/modifying of a sheet/column/row/cell, which is why quite a number of these functions were moved from the edit and insert menus into a dedicated Sheet menu. So now a user can go into Sheet to insert or delete a cell, as well as fill or clear a cell. The name Sheet encompasses all features of a sheet, similar to the Table menu in writer encompasses all features of a table. It's new, but not bad. * Names Cells * Was in the Insert menu as Names. * The new name Names Cells doesn't make sense; if we change the name then to Named Expressions, but not to Names Cells. @eike: why 'Named Expressions'? * May make more sense in the Insert menu, because named expressions and ranges more often are document global than sheet local. However, Insert isn't the exact functionality, but Sheet isn't the exact functionality either. It was renamed to 'Name Cells' in my June 11th patch as a user is defining a name for a group of cells on the current sheet or globally for the spreadsheet. 'Naming Cells' is another possible as that is what we use in the help - https://help.libreoffice.org/Calc/Naming_Cells Yes its hard to always know the best possible place to put it, but if i had to choose between insert and sheet, it would be sheet, as the Insert menu contains elements that are visibly seen and inserted in a sheet, while defining a name to a group of cells is more like setting a reference on a sheet. * Cell Comment * Has an unselectable blank first submenu entry that probably should read Insert Comment. It was named as 'Edit Comment' in my June 11th patch. * Edit * Protect Spreadsheet * Why was this renamed from Protect Document? Spreadsheet is confusingly similar to Sheet. The use of document in libreoffice is primarily linked to writer, as we have 'Writer Document' in the start center and we have 'Text documents' in the open dialog. While calc has 'Calc Spreadsheet' in the start center, 'Spreadsheets' in the open dialog and ODF Spreadsheet in the save dialog. I doubt users would not know the difference between a spreadsheet and a sheet and if they dont, it is a good opportunity to teach them the difference by using the word spreadsheet more. I think people will simply understand Protect document. No need to change that. * The entries immediately above are Merge Document and Compare Document. Yes those would likely also need to be changed. * It is very unfortunate to move the Tools' Protect Document menu entry that had a submenu with Document and Sheet away from the Tools menu AND split it up and scatter over two different menus AND rename the entries. Imagine how confused users will be who want to use the functionality. Already I was when I wanted to unprotect a document.. Yes it would be a change for users who have already know where things have been, but that is the case with any change. Better organized menus help both old and new users. So is it better for a user to find protect sheet under Tools Protect Document Sheet or Sheet Protect Sheet? Of course i would assume most users would simply use the sheet tab context menu for this rather than digging into menus. Should protecting the contents of a spreadsheet from being changed be considered a tool or simply an edit function similar to tracking the changes being make to a spreadsheet? The tools menu has been known to be a dumping ground for functions that didnt seem to go into other menus rather than them truly being tools. The big disadvantage, mentioned by Eike too, is that now protecting is split over Sheet and Edit. For such a situation, using Tools makes sense maybe? Similar with Pivot Tables... Now we have Insert Pivot Table and Data Pivot Table .. Shrug. Maybe it's better to have that in Data, where it is now. I put the value in cell Z1 ... Please stop complaining and follow instructions above. I wrote 1) move L1 outside your data range to sort, for instance AB1 (keep at least 1 empty column with your data), If you put it in Z1 (instead of AB1 as I told you) then it is sticked with your data and Calc will include it in your data. As a final suggestion, can you take the time to test with V3? I was using V3.4.5 up until I installed V4.0.4 on 2013-06-23 which is when I discovered this issue. I installed LibO 3.4.6.2 and I agree with you: LibO keeps tick Range contains column labels even if first row contains values. The regression was introduced between 3.4.6.2 and 4.0.4. Problem encountered with French locale, don't know if it is L10N problem or original string that is wrong. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92400] Rendering problems with Hebrew using Calibri on Windows
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92400 Maxim Monastirsky momonas...@gmail.com changed: What|Removed |Added CC||momonas...@gmail.com --- Comment #2 from Maxim Monastirsky momonas...@gmail.com --- (In reply to J from comment #0) The sample file I provided has hebrew text using the Calibri font. AFAIK Calibri font doesn't have Hebrew glyphs. What you're seeing under Linux is actually rendered using some fallback font. If you want to handle Hebrew, the best is to use another font that do have Hebrew glyphs. You should never rely on the fallback rendering, as it may behave differently/badly on different platforms (in particular it's known to have problems under Windows). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Is it the picture on top of pag 49 ? I do not see a problem when I open your file in 4.4.4.3 or 5.0.0.2 But I work on Ubuntu 32 bits, maybe a bug on Windows ? [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 88402] Sorting setting Range contains column labels is forgotten if label contains values
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=88402 --- Comment #37 from Aprax r...@jwcca.com --- Just a comment Laurent which certainly looks like I'm being picky, but I see that you've changed the title to: Sorting setting Range contains column labels is forgotten if label contains values might be more aptly defined as: Sorting - The setting Range contains column labels is forgotten if any column Label contains a numeric value of course an even better one would be: Sorting - The setting Range contains column labels is forgotten if any column Label in row 1 contains a numeric value unless the value is moved to a row 1 cell with at least 1 empty column between the value and the data to be sorted Boggles the mind... I'm going to be quiet now :) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
