Valid request - moving to NEW.

Note: Enhancements are handled almost entirely by volunteers. Thus, this
enhancement would only be implemented if a volunteer found it interesting
enough to do. We do not provide ETA's or voting. The result, it could be added
tomorrow (incredibly unlikely), or never.

Thanks for the suggestion. As for the note on the extension - don't stress the
1 year, it probably just means it still works fine so no need to release a new
version.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 95029] New: Search for Character Styles

2015-10-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=95029

Bug ID: 95029
   Summary: Search for Character Styles
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.4.5.2 release
  Hardware: Other
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: natedhee...@gmail.com

As far as I've been able to determine, there is no functionality provided by
default in LibreOffice Writer to search by character style, although it is
provided for paragraph style. Someone raised this issue in 2013
[here](https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/21867/writer-how-can-i-search-for-character-syle/),
but the solution provided (an extension called
[AltSearch](http://extensions.libreoffice.org/extension-center/alternative-dialog-find-replace-for-writer))
"has not had a release in over 1 year and may no longer be maintained." Even if
it were up to date, I would prefer the reliability of default integration for
this "Search for character style" functionality than to rely on an extension
that would require attention from time to time, could face at least temporary
setbacks with new versions of LibreOffice, and could still eventually become
unsupported. So is this something that LibreOffice's developers would be
willing to consider?

By the way, I originally posted this at https://ask.libreoffice.org but was
informed that this was a more appropriate venue.

LibreOffice 5.0.2.
Ubuntu 15.04 x64

Marking as:
New:
Minor - can slow down professional quality work but will not prevent it. (This
is debateable and I could easily be sold on this being a normal bug);
Medium - regression

Regression Note: Older versions showed paragraph spacing of 0.02" above and
below, it is now 0.19"

@Matthew - can you check Microsoft spacing and tell us what it is (in both cm
and inches if possible so that it's accessible by developers in Europe and the
United States). If it is 0.02" (or the equivalent) then this is a true
regression and it once was correct, if instead it's 0.00" then it was never
perfect but it was a lot better than it is now.

Thanks!

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 90374] SIDEBAR: Having the sidebar with a fixed width across all tabs

2015-10-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90374

Sure I'm fine with reopening. But my position remains as in comment 9 --
individually set minimums are reasonable, but *no* to setting a global fixed
minimum width for any content panel active in the Sidebar deck. As the content
of each panel is different--its dimensions should be different: fully extended,
or shrunk to colapse.

Otherwise, as Adolfo notes a global minimum width would be like a reversion to
prior .SRC based dialogs.

When issues from 67770/69534 "Sidebar customization settings not remembered
after reopening" -- see
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67770#c4 -- are being
implemented a fixed global minimum width would be counter productive to their
resolution. Fixed minimum would not be needed--so don't implement it that way.

Sorry, I was reading a duplicate bug report and confused the two. The duplicate
bug author proposed the following solution:

 -Editing /etc/profile.d/libreoffice-fresh.sh and uncommenting either
VCLPLUGIN=gtk or gen.

I've tried uncommenting either lines and restarting lboffice with no avail.

> Have you tried upgrading to 3.18.2? That fixed the issue for me.

I have upgrade my system to 3.18.2 and even with a restart the problem still
persists. I am using Antergos/Arch x64

@soren121, I'll upgrade GTK+ tomorrow and see if that fixes it. I just noticed
that LibreOffice put out 5.0.3 that is supposed to include a GTK+ fix. If
upgrading GTK+ to 3.18.2 doesn't work, I'll give that a try and update the bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 94677] Calc is slow opening large CSV

2015-10-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=94677

(In reply to john cantin from comment #8)
> I've not tried reporting an bug to LibreOffice before, so I have no idea
> what to expect.

welcome on board :-)

> Is this officially recognized as a bug now?

yes. when you report a bug the status is UNCONFIRMED.
when another user is able to reproduce it the status is set to NEW which means
that the bug is confirmed.

> Will someone be looking at fixing it? Is there a timeline on it?

there's no timeline yet.
what you can do to speedup the fixing is testing the bug with older releases in
order to know if the issue has always been present or if it's a regression bug
(it worked fine in a previous release and became a bug in a newer one).

so I suggest going at this page:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/winpenpack/files/X-LibreOffice/releases/

and download some older LibO portable versions and retest.
I suggest testing the last version of each branch (i.e. 4.4.5, 4.3.5, 4.2.6)
until you find the first version that doesn't show the bug then move forward
and test the first release of each branch (i.e. 4.4.0, 4.3.0, 4.2.0) to find
the first release that did show the bug.

if you find the regression point it will be easier to identify the root of the
issue and have a fix

vstuart,
I'm reopening this as
1) There are multiple users requesting this feature.
2) We already implement this feature in the main properties sidebar
3) Some of your counter bug examples have been resolved, while others do not
directly conflict with this request such as Bug 67770

I feel Yousuf adequately addressed all the other concerns you had with this
feature. This is also the best solution to Bug 92317. Every panel needs a
minimum width to be functional. We either need a global minimum as discussed
here or a per panel minimum discussed there. A global minimum has the advantage
of not needing to dynamically resize the panel when switching between panels of
different min width.

I use several application with side panel UIs. LibreOffice is the only one
where I often find myself resizing it to fix inaccessible controls. No matter
how you spin it, that's a bug not a feature.

I believe this could have something to do with changes to the gtk filechooser,
but I am not certain.

Fresh install of Arch Linux along with GNOME 3.18.1 and LibreOffice 5.0.2.2.
Problem was not present when running GNOME 3.16.

Happens in all applications after selecting "Save As.../a Copy" but before the
filechooser dialog appears.

Opening files functions.

Problem can be worked around by using SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk instead.

I also encountered this issue. Since the author of commit causing this
regression has said he does not have time to support his patch, it should be
reverted until he can.

Having personas apply to customized toolbars would be nice. But that’s purely
an aesthetic improvement for users that customize their UI. Michael's
enhancement breaks the DEFAULT toolbar for everyone and he has stated he cannot
support it.

Unsupported, broken patches should be reverted.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 94479] Impossible to NOT view changes as one edits; every save of document shows changes.

2015-10-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=94479

I'm sure it is NOT a duplicate of 89991.
I get my editing documents ONLY as .doc or .docx
I edit them without changing the format.
As I've said, I can not see if I'm in save changes or not - nothing changes in
the drop down menu; and more importantly I always work with show changes OFF
and they do not stay offevery time the file is saved [and I save VERY
often], it reverts back to showing all changes. I don't see how this is a
duplicate or even very similar to 89991.

I do NOT save .odt files as .doc or .docx.
I only import .doc or .docx for editing and this is what I'm talking about.
This doesn't seem to happen in .odt files [my own files].

I don't know why this is not clear. I do editing for a business. The people I
do business with don't even know of Libreoffice, .odt format, or open-source
software for that matter. They are locked in MS-Land. I import their files and
send them back the edited versions without converting them.

I don't see where this is resolved - sorry.

Hi,

(In reply to Rojikku from comment #0)
> My issue is, since libre office 5, it completely ignores gtk themes set,
Is it a GTK2 only theme? LO5 on Arch defaults to GTK3, so it might be the
cause.

To force the GTK2 interface, add export SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk to your
.bash_profile, or uncomment this line in /etc/profile.d/libreoffice-fresh.sh.
You'll need to logout-login for the change to take effect.

Please let me know it it solves your problem. Setting to NEEDINFO until more
information is provided.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 95001] New: Change of formula font-type after upgrade to 5.0.2.2

2015-10-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=95001

Bug ID: 95001
Summary: Change of formula font-type after upgrade to 5.0.2.2
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.0.2.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED

Created attachment 119546

look at the formula, the "nu" should look like a "nu" and not a "v"

I made a document with a previous version of libreoffice (5.0.1.2 perhaps)
When I open it with 5.0.2.2, the font-type of formula changed.
It's critical for me because I use the greek "nu" letter which is quite similar
with the "v" letter but I need a visible difference to not confuse my students
(in physics "nu" is for the frequency and "v" for speed).
With the older version design of "nu" and "v" was clearly different, now they
are the same, but I did not modify my doc so it should have stayed the same.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 40780] Impress Custom Animation Sound Effect not audible in Slide Show

2015-10-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=40780

Julien's on the right track. If you create slide with an Animation Sound Effect
and save it, it will work. If you copy that file to a different directory, the
sound will no longer play. The reason why there was so much confusion over this
bug, is that sound effect work until the file that they were created in is
moved to a new location.

So the issue here is the sound player is using the full system path of the
sound effect, instead of using the relative location of the sound effect within
the ODP file.

me, but I'd rather keep my theme as is.

Already crashing on 50max tag oldest

introduced in 50 => setting version to 4.4.0~beta1.

Might still be bibisectable with e.g. a 44max repo.

While editing html document with embedded span tag which contains data-*
attributes, these span elements are lost, f.e.:

Some text some other text

After saving edited document as html, these span tags are lost if they are zero
or not zero length.

It would be nice if LibreOffice Writer could preserve embedded non visual
information.

MS Word preserves this information on open/save and also while editing
(copying, pasting, moving).

SfxTabDialog: avoid changing const input parameter

* SfxTabDialog constructor has a const pointer parameter
pointing to the input set and also the corresponding member
is a const pointer which indicated that set is not changed by
the dialog, but this is not true, const is casted away and
the input set is changed.
* So use a copy of the input set instead, pointed by
a non-const member, so we can spare some const cast and
misunderstandings.
* GetRefreshedSet not behaves as a getter method, but changes
the input set instead, so redeclare it accordingly.

I tested 5.0.2.2 today and find some fixes compared to before,
but I noticed one serious bug unfortunately, where paper size of handout is
fixed to letter size irrespective to what is selected in the handout tab.
In short, we cannot change paper size of handout print.
This bug is more serious than before at least to me.
Does anyone confirm this bug? I reopen this bug anyway.

yes, the theory says that it does not matter, but my experience says that this
is also depends on the environment/distribution you are using, and their
compiler flags. It is common habit to use "" for project local includes and <>
for system includes. This can be enforced by CFLAGS. At least one handle do
that in one unique way within one project, and not a wild mixture. That's just
a matter of programming style.

to 2.
maybe you asked the wrong person...? I am sure that the Qt-4 include paths
heavily depend on the distribution and in my case (Gentoo Linux) there is only
one common qt4 include directive, so that the directory prefix is needed. This
was different in Qt-3 and it will change (again) in Qt-5, but for Qt-4 you only
are on the safe side if you use it the way I patched it. AFAIR this was the
*recommended* way when porting from Qt-3 to Qt-4. Using the old way "might"
work, but it definitely did not here.

So as a conclusion: what kind of risk do you see in fixing this?

BTW: my pkgconf and Qt setup *is* correct, definitely! I have hundreds of
Qt/KDE applications that compile fine.

Looks like a cool enhancement, thanks for sharing your idea!

I think this does not need to be necessarily an integrated part of Calc,
however. I imagine that creating an extension would suffice. Besides, one can
already export as CSV from Calc and input that file to csvtomd, and I don’t
believe that LibreOffice wants to compete with dedicated Markdown-editing
software – thus, lowering this ticket’s importance (not blocking or
discouraging anybody from working on this, should they please someday).

For the record, we like Markdown as well: one of our hackers has created a tool
to create presentations from .md [1], but note it’s not part of LibreOffice
proper.

Just FYI - this isn't how the project works. Sometimes the fix has fixed
something more serious than the regression so we don't have an "automatically
revert" policy. Nor do we have a "demand volunteers do X" policy.

To NEEDINFO, and correcting Product/Component

As per help
https://help.libreoffice.org/Calc/Inserting_External_Data_in_Table_WebQuery

Did queries to this site ever produce OOo/LO/AOO WebQuerry parseable returns?

The tables are there once the site composes the query, so they can be copied
and pasted into the Calc table. So data can be used--just not convenience of
the WebQuerry mechanism.
