When you mention DOC, do you mean a Microsoft Office doc formatted document or

Oppps ... now I see, that both formula have the same behavior (I'll test it
later) - but by my opinion the behavior is bad.

When I spread the formula (cell K5 and also T5 resp.) immediately after copy
head by clipboard, in column K (and T) recalculation is not provided.
When I edit a cell K5 after copy head by clipboard (for instance add a sign +
at the begin of formula, or after 'edition' return formula without change) and
spread formula after edition, formula is recalculate.

Not limited to Calc, Impress/Draw behaves the same -- as soon as there's a
misspelled word, there's no way to access formatting entries from context menu.

There must be some secret plan behind all this, to force users to spell words
properly (and I wasn't even able to find this bugreport, because the word
'mispelled' is misspelled in its summary :P :D)

In a future session the problem did not repeat itself, but it did behave oddly.
I do not remember the specifics that lead me to describe it as "oddly", but I
believe it did not accept the change but then formatted it incorrectly and did
not allow an undo. I recognize that probably couples about 3 largely unrelated
pieces of code...sorry for not being able to be more helpful.

I will mark this as unconfirmed.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 95542] New: Help file on parameter queries confusing and wrong

2015-11-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=95542

Bug ID: 95542
Summary: Help file on parameter queries confusing and wrong
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: Other
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: l...@ptoye.com

The text at https://help.libreoffice.org/Common/Query_Design#Parameter_queries
is rather confusing and on occasions it seems to be wrong.

This is the first time that the concept of "variable" has been introduced, but
it is not defined anywhere. Is it meant to mean that an SQL variable is created
and assigned a value?

The square bracket notation does not work, but without an example it's
difficult to see what the author meant (translation problem?). Certainly
putting << =[Prompt] >> (without the angle brackets) in the "criterion" row of
a query design doesn't work.

As it currently works, the text after the colon is not the variable name, but
the prompt which is output by LO. Or is this also the name of an SQL variable?

The comment about placeholders is a bit too terse. One can assume that the
comma in the example is not a literal (but "and" might be clearer), but just
what constitutes a "special character"? "Such as..." shouldn't really appear in
a technical document. And the last line of the section uses the word
"placeholder" in a completely different context.

I would be willing to help clean up this text but don't have editing rights.
The help wiki doesn't seem to have a "register" option - probably a good idea
to stop amateurs like myself from messing up the system :)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 65321] EDITING: Excess drawing area interferes with OLE importing of drawings into other docs

2015-11-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=65321

Adding another confirmation of this issue, with LO 4.3.3.2 on Debian Jessie.

I have a moderately complex block diagram which I am editing and storing in a
separate .odg file, for ease of manipulation. This is then OLE embedded into
the .odt document that it relates to. I would have preferred to keep it easily
editable via OLE rather than having to generate and update a statically
embedded copy.

Unfortunately due to the oversized canvas, there are several centimetres of
white space around the diagram, which is squeezed into the centre of the page
in the outer, containing, document. I haven't been able to find a way around
this that keeps the diagram editable via OLE. The best I can do is to stretch
the embedded object over the entire width of the page, so the excess canvas
coincides with the page margins. But this still somewhat wasteful of space and
makes it hard to produce a high quality document.

Last half sentence is not factually correct. The feature to attach files to a
PDF was specified in PDF-1.3 for the first time. See table 169, item
"FileAttachments" on page 390 of the Adobe version of the PDF-1.7 spec
(filename "PDF32000_2008.pdf").

> Believe our Poppler integration is capable of generating that level of PDF,
> but suspect it would would require a lot of work.

I do not think so. It should be no more difficult than the current
("proprietary") implementation that is used by OpenOffice and LibreOffice.

(There may be other arguments which could be made in favor of keeping it as it
is, and make sure no other application could extract the embedded ODT source
file. But I haven't heard any so far...)

> However, other than this issue of reworking our Hybrid PDF, more pressing
> compliance issues of producing accessible PDF/A-1a and PDF/UA (ISO 14289-1)[
> bug 45636 ] probably already require a more complete implementation of ISO
> 32000-1 and production of PDF 1.7 level documents.

* PDF/UA: Nes, that requires support for PDF-1.7.

* PDF/A-1a: No PDF/A-1b (basic) and /A1-a (advanced) both even *forbid* to use
any new features beyond PDF-1.4 and up to -1.7. They *require* limitation to
PDF-1.4 features (and have a few other feature requirements and prohibition of
features).

However, to produce a PDF/UA does not require to support *ALL* features which
have been introduced and defined in between and up to 1.4 and 1.7. It is just
so that if you want to make a compliant PDF/UA, you'll have to support *some*
of the new features, which in turn means you have to declare it as a PDF-1.7
file.

Ok, I agree.

But for *that*, please create a new bugzilla item. Don't hijack an existing
item. Or don't artificially extend the scope of the current item and thusly
create an excuse to close it.

> For Hybrid PDF that is notably an internal to LibreOffice usage--why would
> we *ONLY* rework the Hybrid PDF to gain functions of "attachment to
> document" rather than continuing to append as we do now?

Because we could then detach the embedded ODT on systems where there is not
even LibreOffice installed?

In the interest of transparency we could recognize the fact that there is an
embedded ODT file in the PDF by other means than opening it in LO?

In the interest of efficiency, we could remove the embedded file, should we
(for whatever reason) want to create a smaller PDF (and keep all the original
PDF objects) when we do not have LO around to open it and re-create the PDF
again (which may change a lot of the objects, when your LO is a newer version)?

There are some other features to gain from such a rework too...

> We'd have to do
> the work on both ends anyway -- our filter export to PDF, changing from
> appending to embedding in some Adobe defined method pre-ISO 32000-1

Wrong. The method was originally "some Adobe defined method pre-ISO 32000-1",
yes. But this exactly identical method was kept and preserved in ISO 32000-1.

> --coupled
> with having to filter the opening of said Hybrid PDF to get at the ODF
> "attachment".

Oh! And how do you currently open a Hybrid PDF with LO?!??

(You look at the key special entry in the trailer section. You can still keep
that, or a slightly modified key entry for LO's benefit to make it easier to
recognize its own source document format as being embedded. But add the other
modifications for the benefit of other PDF processing applications to recognize
the embedded file.)

> IMHO much better if this is to be done, to do it in context of ISO 32000-1
> and PDF 1.7, or even future ISO 32000-2.

Create a new, your own, bugzilla entry. Don't hijack other people's entries for
a different purpose.

> You seem pretty up to date on the standards, and the history, are you
> willing to pitch in and give the devs a hand in scoping the requirement?

Yes, but I'm unsure how to do it.

My guess is that if the devs are willing to read up a few spots in the ISO
32000-1 document, they'll very quickly see what they need to change. These
devs, after all, were very creative in coming up with a non-standard way and to
create that feature in their "proprietary" way without making the PDF invalid
and without openly violating any of the PDF specs :-)They may even have had
some valid reasons and very sane considerations about why they did choose that
path -- however, I haven't seen any yet; if they exist(ed), I'm not aware of
them.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 95328] Hybrid PDF change and use PDF 1.7 attachment to PDF, rather than current append to PDF 1.4

2015-11-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=95328

@V Stuart Foote:

I'd like to ask you to roll back the change in headline for this bug. The new
version reads:

"Hybrid PDF change and use PDF 1.7 attachment to PDF,
rather than current append to PDF 1.4."

The old version did read:

"PDF export: embed opendocument file as PDF attachment"

The new headline extends the scope of the original request in a very
significant way.

If you indeed want PDF-1.7 features implemented (I myself would like to see
such things too!), then you should create a new bugzilla entry.

The original request was to modify the "hybrid PDF" creation feature in a way
that embeds the ODT with "PDF standard" methods (and also to modify accordingly
the way LibreOffice reads these files), instead of doing it in the
"LibreOffice/OpenOffice" proprietary way.

No the icons in the OS X screenshot are not the correct size as the original
icons in the repo, so there is something wrong with the screenshot. Can you

Kurt, thanks. But, I firmly believe it is correct to ask devs to move the
bar--that means implementing ISO 32000-1 and declaring PDF 1.7

For Hybrid PDF that is notably an internal to LibreOffice usage--why would we
*ONLY* rework the Hybrid PDF to gain functions of "attachment to document"
rather than continuing to append as we do now? We'd have to do the work on
both ends anyway -- our filter export to PDF, changing from appending to
embedding in some Adobe defined method pre-ISO 32000-1--coupled with having to
filter the opening of said Hybrid PDF to get at the ODF "attachment".

IMHO much better if this is to be done, to do it in context of ISO 32000-1 and
PDF 1.7, or even future ISO 32000-2.

You seem pretty up to date on the standards, and the history, are you willing
to pitch in and give the devs a hand in scoping the requirement?

Stuart

2015-11-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 95554
Summary: Copy of multiple cells in a column only copies
the first cell
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.0.0.5 release
  Hardware: Other
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: larsen...@web.de

Steps to reproduce (on Windows):
- Open a new Calc document
- In any column, enter anything in six different cells
- While holding the Ctrl-key, select some of those cells
- Press Ctrl+C and paste this into any text editor

Result:
Only the cell with the lowest row number will have been copied.

Related tests:
- Copying multiple cells within one row works as expected
- Trying to copy cells from different rows/columns gives "This function cannot
be applied to a multiple selection" (translated from the German text I get)

I first noticed this problem with 5.0.0.5 (x86). Problem persists with 5.0.3.2
(x64). Windows 7, SP1.

OK, I've been schooled. Our ODF is embedded into the PDF with MIME entry in the
trailer, and the stream object interspersed with other objects of he PDF
"document".

We don't need the full ISO 32000-1/PDF 1.7 handling for the PDF applications to
recognize them as attachments and be of use.

Simply implementing the Embedded File Streams/Embedded Files & Name Dictionary
of ISO 32000-1:2008 [7.11.4] (or PDF 1.7 [3.10.3]) mechanism from PDF 1.4 looks
like it would add the ability for a compliant PDF application to identify and
manipulate the embedded ODF as attachments.

Adjusting summary...

Hybrid PDF -- implement PDF 1.4 level support for Embedded File Streams to
expose ODF object stream as Attachment to the PDF document

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 95553] New: Print booklet pages small and off center

2015-11-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=95553

Bug ID: 95553
Summary: Print booklet pages small and off center
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.0.2.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Printing and PDF export
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: bugzilla-libreoffice...@oo.net

Testing latest release of LibreOffice under Xubuntu 15.10

Print 2-up appears to be more or less correct. Clicking the booklet option
shrinks pages smaller than 2-up and positions top left of page. Appears to make
no difference whether pages start actual size (5.5" x 8.5") — preferred — or
full size (8.5" x 11") prior to printing on letter size paper. Printer size and
orientation settings also appeared to have no effect. Expected behavior is
exact 5.5" x 8.5" pages set side-by-side (without margins) on a 8.5" x 11"
sheet.

I have to stand corrected. Disabling the embedded fonts in the *fodt* does fix
part of the issue.

But:
1. I'm not sure if a file size growth of 750Kb to 62.4MB is desireable.
2. It does not explain what the wierd corrupt font file is in the *odt*
archives?
3. And why my SVG image is saved as binary data and not as xml (as it did in
the previous version).

2015-11-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=95533

I looked over the downloadable files and couldn't find such an issue in the
portal_catalog index. I tried then with a new downloadable file (3-0a.oxt) at
the release 3.0 of the spellchecker and everything was fine (no additional -1).
There are two options that could cause the issue:
a) there is already a file with the same name on the website (I can't find that
file in the catalog yet)
b) the file has the same name on the local hard-disk before the upload.

There seemed to be no files with an -1 at the end in this spell checking
project but the version 3.0.

OpenGL ON / OFF
It did not seem to change much on the Kabini system either. With or without
OpenGL enabled, there was slowdown. It seemed slightly slower overall without
OpenGL (but that might be a subjective impression). Also typing near such an
image was relatively slow.

Hello, as an Excel and LibreOffice Calc user, I also want to reinforce the
comments made earlier by these two gentlemen. There is a real need for the
"Insert Copied Cells" and "Insert Cut Cells" functionality in LibreOffice Calc,
implemented as close as possible to the functionality of Excel. Excel
spreadsheet users use these functions all the time.

The usage is well described in these three comments.

I can see from Google that this has been on the request list for a very long
time. It would be "just awesome" to see it finally incorporated into
LibreOffice Calc, which is a great application in so many ways.

Thanks for keeping this feature enhancement request alive.

Giving this an informational bump to report that this issue still persists
without OpenGL active in 5.0.3.2 just as I described in comment #0. Activating
OpenGL (as per remark [3] in comment #14) seems to resolve it, but I see a lot
of tearing (especially on my old x86 box) likely because hardware acceleration
won't activate.

I look forward to the day hardware acceleration works with OpenGL.

I really need this feature for a variable catalogue i'm making at work and
which forces me to use Word. I'm currently making is a list of variable we use
in our database. Each variable has all kinds of information, but the most
important ones are the name and a number. What i want is to create indexes for
at least the variable name and number. I can do this in Word (although not very
user friendly) and the resulting index looks something like this.

- By Name -

Name (G100) . 1
Surname (G101) .. 2
Birthdate (G102) 3

- By Number -

G100 (Name) . 1
G101 (Surname) .. 2
G102 (Birthdate) 3

In LibreOffice, i can add multiple index, but not with unique content. I also
tried using multiple concordance files, but that doesn't work either.

Hi, I have the exact same problem, with the cut characters at the top in place
of the image (version 5.0.2.2). But I cannot say for sure it is a LibreOffice
bug, I have the same version at my work computer and it works fine, same
document. The main difference is at my home I have Windows 10 x64 and at work
Windows 8.1 x64. I have installed the version 4 and works in my home computer,
returned to new version 5.0.3 and the problem reappeared, even tried in the
middle version 5.0.3.2 with no luck.
