Yes, I was wrong. I thought that creating a new document it should have the extention the defualt setup in the program was - in my case .doc. Jus installed openoffice to prove it - it proved me wrong. Nonetheless still cant save default on other computers as .doc. Problem appears solved. I tried starting a new document and it was appearing as the capital A's again. THEN I tried changing the font to courier from the default of Liberation Serif (that I didn't set in the first place) and suddenly my text was my text as written. I tried several other fonts and they all worked fine. I have gone back and changed the fonts for the few other documents I had, closed them, reopened them, and they were still fine. Cause of problem? Something wrong with the Liberation Serif font. Explanation? Who knows? Solution? Stay away from that font at all times. My problem is solved, but you might want to look into whether anyone else is having problems with the LS font. Thanks!
