Also, selecting "no theme" works as expected, but it is not possible to return
to the previous (or any other) theme.

There is another bug in the attached file.
Try to increase the last row size so that the table fit the entire page.
The document increases one more page automatically.
so while printing we should be careful about the extra page. sometimes it will
be difficult. after each needed page an blank page will be ejected by the
printer.
One line after the table cannot be removed.

I would prefer(suggestion). The last line should be there by default(as of now)
but should be allowed to delete using delete button.
there would be an option "Insert line after Table" & "Insert line after Table"
in the right-click menu and insert menu.

Status: UNCONFIRMED

After updating to version 5.2, the previously installed persona remained in
place. However, attempting to select "own theme" in Tools - Options -
LibreOffice - Personalization is unsuccessful. The select theme does not find
any themes.

There is no access to personas already present in the user profile.

I tried to trace this down, since the issue itself seems to be trivial.
However...

GNUMERIC_ENABLED gets defined if __ORCUS_GNUMERIC is defined, and that gets
defined in src/liborcus/Makefile.am if WITH_GNUMERIC_FILTER is defined.
WITH_GNUMERIC_FILTER is defined during configure, and that's where I got lost,
no clue what happens in there, and how it's called.
LO repo's external/liborcus/* offered no clues, either, there's nothing related
to Gnumeric.

Markus, any suggestions on how to analyze this further? Or if it's a
straightforward fix for an expert, don't mind me.

What do you mean by "an incorrect page that cannot be seen in the document"?
I assume by that you don't mean it shows something that doesn't exist in the
document at all.

Is it as if it was showing part of one page and part of the next?
Does it happen with other pages as well?
If so, which is the first page this happens with, is there anything special on
that page?

Error message when using a postgres SDBC driver

When using the SDBC-Driver for postgres (libreoffice-sdbc-postgresql
(1:5.1.4-0ubuntu1)) the error message is a bit more detailed.

It appears, that postgres does not support a column alias directly after the
column name without the keyword AS in between. LibreOffice seems to create
exactly that syntax (SELECT columnname columnalias FROM tablename).

The error only occurs when executing an SQL query or the query designer.

Unlike with JDBC-driver the SDBC-driver seems to pass the query through to the
DBMS unchanged, if executing a SQL-pass-thru query. So using aliases with SDBC
and pass-through works fine.

Error message when using a postgres JDBC driver

Specifying a column alias on a statement against a postgres database via jdbc
driver creates a database syntax error as shown in the attached screen shot.

The error occures no matter whether an SQL query, the query designer or a
pass-through query is used executed.

JDBC-Drivers tested:

postgresql-jdbc3-8.3.jar
postgresql-jdbc3-9.2.jar
postgresql-jdbc4-9.2.jar

All the above (SQL query, the query designer or a pass-through query) can be
executed if no alias is used.

This error does not occure in libreoffice-base 4.2.8-0ubuntu4. All jdbc drivers
work.

Thanks again for responding so fast. You can change the status as you see fit.
Since the bug I found directly involves Photoshop CC, there is no way I can
demonstrate it without Photoshop CC installed. Anyone can install a trial
version of Photoshop CC for free (30 days I think), so that should not be a
limiting factor.

It's possible that the bug is Adobe's and occurs when other apps are installed
as well. I don't have the ability to research that possibility.

Unless you can provide reproduction steps that doesn't require Photoshop, the
chance that this issue will be followed upon is very slim, as it can't be
reproduced by others.
As I wrote, Adobe has the resources to provide more information on this, and
they are welcome to. For now what I can see is that their forum is full of this
issue (are those all LibreOffice users?), and they only offer manual fix steps
with no explanation.

I can leave the status as UNCONFIRMED if that's what you want, but there's
nothing else I can add here.

Apparently you've written three comments about the issue since "giving up".

Honestly, reopening an issue is two clicks, plus giving some form of
constructive feedback, for example that you tried the new version, and
this-and-this was your observation. It takes no more time than complaining.

Thank you for your response. I have already checked with Adobe, I do not know
what they will do. I knew the permissions had been somehow changed, but didn't
know the cause. I spent some time puzzling it out but eventually found that it
was the LibreOffice Installer. I have no idea why the installer is doing this
but I know for an absolute certainty that it is. As my final test, I had
regedit open and could see the permissions on photoshop.exe (everyone had full
permissions), I then installed LibraOffice 5.1.4.2 and immediately checked the
photoshop.exe permissions. They had changed (everyone only had read
permission)! The only 3rd party software running at the time the permissions
were changed was LibreOffice. I repeated this test on another Windows 7 Pro
system and the exact same thing happened. It is a repeatable bug across
different makes of Window 7 Pro PCs from various users. This has happened on
over four Windows 7 Pro PCs so far.

The original owner of the photoshop.exe key is System when this change occurs.
Once the photoshop.exe key owner is changed to Administrators, the change does
not occur. The change does not occur on Windows 10 Pro PCs at all.

>From my point of view, this bug has not been resolved and is still active.

Please can you tell me more about such plans, perhaps in a direct mail to me in
case it is to long for this issue? The current implementation on master has
some problems, but in principle it follows the ODF 1.2 specification.

Ultimately we dont have to call things by their ODF

How this feature is presented to the user is indeed a different problem.

Which version are you using, and on what operating system?
If it's 5.2.0, can you try with 5.2.1.2?
http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases/
This is a prerelease version, but will likely be released as 5.2.1 final in a
week.

Seems the build i was using from the 16th didnt update the table style
correctly (Styles & Formatting sidebar, table styles tab, update style).

Though we dont presently support table styles in the tag, we will
in the future. Ultimately we dont have to call things by their ODF definition
name if we decide that the name used isnt suitable.

I highly doubt this has anything to do with LibreOffice. I don't know how
Photoshop works, but looking at entries for different software (firefox.exe for
example) shows that no permissions have to be added for Everyone at all, let
alone Full Control. Also, I can hardly imagine LibreOffice installer being able
to change permissions, maybe it has to do with the system.

Either way, since Adobe knows why they need that specific permission, I suggest
checking with them if and how other installers could interfere with it. If they
have specific change requests that don't interfere with normal usage, those
could be considered (or they are welcome to contribute the changes themselves).

So the gradient tab of the area dialog has a field labelled 'border' which
according to the help is to 'Enter the amount by which you want to adjust the
area of the endpoint color on the gradient. The endpoint color is the color
that is selected in the To box'. ODF has this feature in the draw:border
attribute, which is why it must be labelled like this, but users wont be able
to understand it, so i'd like to get input on what we can use instead.

>From what i can visually see, this value sets where along the gradient fill
path the start/from color will begin transitioning to the end/to color. So
maybe 'Transition point' would be good.

I'm in the process of switching from Puppy Linux to Mint, for reasons not
germane to this bug.

I can report that, for me, it seems to be fixed. Linux Mint 18, MATE flavor,
LibreOffice 5.1.4.2. I can't say that's the initial version that Mint ships
with -- I've applied a couple updates to the system since installing, and LO
may have been affected by that (I think it was, but I wasn't paying enough
attention to be sure).

I'm going to mark this as Resolved/Fixed -- if anyone else is having a
different experience, would they please reopen the bug?

Thanks...

Hi Robert,

Thanks for replying.

Based on your comment, I first tried removing the ID control altogether. This
allowed me to enter new records without error.

I was looking hard to find the "input required" setting you mentioned and just
couldn't. In the meantime, it's clear to me.

You have two ways of binding controls to the data: either you create a control
first and bind it through the properties, or you add a field using the "Add
field" dialog which creates a multiselection (i.e. grouped) control bound to
the field.

In the latter case, it's not possible to change, or even see data properties
such as "input required" which, I assume, is set to "yes" by standard.

Only after further research, I found out that it is possible to select single
objects of a multiselection group by having pressed when selecting it
with the mouse. Now you can change its properties.

So, it's not a bug. Just it could be a *lot* more intuitive :)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101696] EDITING: Auto-conversion for dates needs disable option for scientific work

2016-08-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101696

First, LibreOffice Calc does *not* convert MARCH1 or SEPT2 to date, contrary to
what is said in the original report
http://genomebiology.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s13059-016-1044-7

It (and OpenOffice.org and ...) *did* convert MARCH1 to date (but not SEPT2, it
could had happened with SEP2 though), but that was fixed for bug 41166 already
with release 4.2.5

So whatever version they used to test things for a report published on
2016-08-23, it was too old, and the statement cited as "To date, there is no
way to permanently deactivate automatic conversion to dates in MS Excel and
other spreadsheet software such as LibreOffice Calc or Apache OpenOffice Calc."
simply is wrong in this context.

Second, of course 2310009E13 is a number, but not 2.31E+13 as given in the
report but 2.310009E+019 instead. Do not trust a scientific publication ;-)

This number recognition is *expected* from a spreadsheet application, yes even
when pasting some copied data. If all data is to be treated as literal text
then doing one of these helps, as already mentioned in earlier comments:

* applying the Text number format to all target cells before pasting
* pasting as unformatted text instead of HTML (or whatever the source format
was) and in the text import dialog select Text as column type
* using a common proper data format for tabular text exchange: CSV or TSV, and
again select columns to be Text in the import dialog

I don't think a "treat all pasted input as text" configuration option would
help anything because those scientists wouldn't know that either.

The only thing that could help is detecting a conversion to number or date in
between runs of mere text strings within one column and then nag the user about
it. But such nag boxes quickly get annoying until ignored.

@Cor — this is not a duplicate of bug 99723.

Bug 99723: File size is not reduced with required compression, but acts as if
lossless was specified.

Bug 101563: File size is made 6–10 times larger when asking for lossless, doing
the opposite of compression. (It's as if the JPG files were converted to BMP.)

--

In the sample given in this bug, the original files are
• ODT 0.1 Mb
• image 2 Mb
• total 2.2 Mb (discrepancy due to rounding).

The PDF from LO 5.1.5.2 is correct at 2.1 Mb, whereas the PDF from 5.2.0.4 is
an astonishing 20.6 Mb.

Using compression 90% instead of lossless, the sample from bug 99723 results in
an acceptable 2.1 Mb from both LO 5.1.5.2 and 5.2.0.4.

--

So, this is not the same problem as reported in bug 99723.

This also concerns Draw and Impress. Draw might be used for creating graphics
for the Web. In particular, it can also be useful as a Wireframing or mockup
application for UI design. There, having px as unit is essential, since things
like 1px wide borders or the like are not fun to specify if they need to be
translated into an odd mm measure.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101294] LibreOffice Deadlocks On Font Change On Some Documents

2016-08-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101294

[18:36] It is fixed on new version of GTK and only impacts us on
OpenSuse 11.4, so it might not be worth the effort
[18:40] dave_largo: if you already know, it's a Gtk+ error, why don't
you backport a newer Gtk+ version?
[18:41] There just aren't resources for that, and if this VCL
thing works, I can limp along for a few months.
[18:47] dave_largo: And the backtrace actually looks fishy -
Application::Yield () calls ImplYield (i_bWait=false… - that shouldn't be
possible
[18:48] jmux: What happens is that after the font changes, the UI
is running at 5% speed, appears deadlocked to users. And it seems to only
happen if fonts are in the style that do not exist locally
[18:50] dave_largo: and I guess the process itself uses 100% CPU. From
the backtrace I would even guess you have a memory corruption.
[18:51] The only thing Application::Yield () does is call
ImplYield(true, false, 0);
[18:51] Now your backtrace says #13 0x7fd1f31a9455 in ImplYield
(i_bWait=false,
[18:52]  #14 0x7fd1f31a5356 in Application::Yield ()
[18:53] That's quite probably not fixable in LO, especially if you
already know a newer SuSE version (it doesn't need to be Gtk+) works correct.
...
[19:13] dave_largo: BTW - which LO version are you using?
[19:15] jmux: Most are on 5.2, a few on 5.3. This bug is in 5.0,
5.1. 5.2 and 5.3. In 4.3 it works fine.

So the code on master AKA 5.3 for Application:Yield is

void Application::Yield()

but the backtrace is

Looks like a memory corruption.

And as the reporter has written, it's fixed on a newer SuSE version, which
suggests it's not a direct LO problem.

In the absence of any other reply to #10, I first found the bug in 4.4, and
since I frequently open documents in read-only mode, I believe it was new then.

I hardly ever opened the sidebar manually, so I'm afraid I can't comment

Check the 1st column "Date" changes to "ateD" on file opened again after
closing. etc

In attached file,
1. See first column "Date" changed to "ateD".
2. see second column "temp" cannot be properly centered horizontally. space is
wasted in the column.
3. See third column "Insect" changed to "tInsec".

If we change the 1st and 3rd column width, the words changes to original.

Then Change column width to original
Save File and
close the file.

Again On file open same problem persists(writer cannot save what it has to
save).

Hi,

Can you please make sure that for your test the fonts Tw Cen MT is installed? I
don't have it and that definitely will be (one of) the caus(es).

If you open this file in Word and introduce a new page, the background image is
there too. So the image itself not related.
(maybe the first bugdoc, but we don't have that any more..)

In 3.3.0.4 (on the same system) the page rendering is a problem too.
(Plus that there the background image is on top, not in the background :) )

Actually was not aware of that conversion of HTML source exponential notation
being done, but if you Paste Special -> "Unformatted text" rather than simple
Paste of HTML format--it goes into a cell as text. And if the exponential
number source was not from an HMTL mark up--it is rendered as simple text when
cells are formatted as text.

Well it is an enhancement--but before closing out of hand, think we should see

Hi Robert,

Sorry to hear about that trouble.
Maybe a stupid question: what about the setting "Use only paper size from
printer settings" (fourth tab, Options !) ?

If not: sample document, system info (os, printer, driver) LibreOffice info
(copy from Help > About LibreOffice)
There's more in that chain that can break things.

And of course there is various options for support:
 http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/community-support/
and
 http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/professional-support/

Unfortunately, it made only part of the problem disappear, but didn't make the
subject work fine. So, it's only a workaround to get particular behavior.

there is no assertion, but the produced ODF is invalid, because it still
contains the attributes, which are originally in loext namespace, but now they
have no namespace at all.

I suggest 2 mm default spacing.

Maybe for LTR languages, that should be right of the image and for RTL left
from the image?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101724] New: FORMATTING: Named colour styles

2016-08-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101724

Bug ID: 101724
   Summary: FORMATTING: Named colour styles
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.4.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: imperativejo...@gmail.com

1. Use one of the colours in a palette for some styling on a few objects.
2. Change the values of that same colour in Tools>Options>Colours.
3. Click OK.
4. The styled objects keep their original colour but with the new name "User".

When I used several instances of the same named colour, I suspected to be able
to change the values of that same colour and thereby change all instances.
Something like colour styles.

I don't know if this is a bug report or a feature request.
