[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 107153] New: DISPLAY: row headers misaligned with data
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=107153 Bug ID: 107153 Summary: DISPLAY: row headers misaligned with data Product: LibreOffice Version: 5.4.0.0.alpha0+ Master Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Calc Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: lo_b...@iseries-guru.com Description: STR --- ( 1) Download the attached "three_columns_blank_isbn.csv". (Contrary to the filename, the column separator is .) ( 2) Open that file. In the dialog "Text Import", accept the defaults. ( 3) Type "+A". The program highlights all cells as selected. ( 4) Right-click over cell A1. ( 5) From the pop-up menu, select Format Cells... . Program presents dialog "Format Cells". ( 6) Click on tab Alignment. ( 7) Check Properties > "Wrap text automatically", and in drop-down list Vertical select Top. Type "". Program returns focus to the main Calc window; all cells are still selected. ( 8) Select font "Liberation Mono". ( 9) Page down until row 36 is visible. Observe that cell A36 has contents "Row 36". (10) Drag the right edge of the header for column C to the left until the word "softcover" is truncated. The non-blank cells in column C show the red right-triangle signifying truncated cell contents. (This contradicts, for the moment, the "Wrap text..." option that we selected in step (7). Bug 57519 reports this problem.) (11) Click on the right edge of the header for column C. Most rows now are two lines high. Expected : The row headers at the left edge of the worksheet should be as high as the data rows, and they should be lined up with the data rows. Observed : The row headers at the left edge of the worksheet are each only one line high, and they are increasingly misaligned with the data rows as you look down the screen. (12) Type "". The row headers are now corrected. (13) Drag the right edge of the header for column C to the right to accomodated the words in that column. Most rows remain two columns high. (Again, bug 57519 covers this.) (14) Type "". The rows of data are now one line high. Expected : The row headers at the left edge of the worksheet should be one line high, and they should align with the rows in the data area. Observed : Most row headers are still two lines high, and they are increasingly misaligned with the data in the worksheet as you look down the screen. This long set of steps is shorter than it could have been. Along the way, I saw row headers repeated (something like 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 36, 37, ...), with two row headers reverse-image to indicate current row. I see this behavior on debian stretch with both the delivered LibreOffice (Version: 5.2.6.2, Build ID: 1:5.2.6-2) and daily Linux dbgutil bibisect repository version 2017-04-13 (source hash b9573789). I am leaving default bug priority. But maybe it should be lower because the display problem is likely too gross to be more than momentarily confusing, and the workaround in step (9) is simple. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 107012] date with custom format macro and locale other than English don' t produce desired result
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=107012 --- Comment #3 from Gerhard Weydt--- If I understand Eike's answer correctly, then the slash in the second parameter of FORMAT doesn't mean the character "slash", but represents the separator between day, month and year, which is changed to the local separator according to the locale used, and this will only work correctly, if you use the order of day, month and year which corresponds to the locale. Indeed, Format(Now(), "DD/MM/") yields 13.04.2017 with german locale, whereas Format(Now(), "MM/DD/") yields 04/13/2017, with correct numbers, but another separator. In my tests I found out that you often can use period or hyphen as separator, as well, but this does not work in all cases. So the recomendation wold be to use the correct separator *and* the correct sequence fitting your locale for the format in accordance with the local, or quote the character you wish to force withe backslash. If the separator used is not connected with the date acceptance pattern, it must be defined within the locale. And it will normally coincide with the first date acceptance pattern for a locale, so it's no wonder I didn't find a case contradicting my hypothesis. I will propose an addition to the help text in a new bugzilla entry. @Adrian: I think your bug can be regarded as resolved, but I leave it to you to change the status accordingly. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

The other day I was thinking about the problem that some software doesn't have a thesaurus. So, I was reflecting about how to solve that once and for all. I remembered Daniel Naber's OpenThesaurus and came up with the idea of placing all LO's or AOO's thesaurus in PDFs, so that the entire planet could benefit from that. So, "Project Open Thesauri" came to birth. I have improved my Hunspell tool, Proofing Tool GUI, to extract thesauri in a stage that we can open with AOO/LO add some formatting, and it is ready to be exported to PDF. I would like to know if someone could create a Wiki page for all language PDFs to be uploaded. If the idea sounds good, on Sunday I will compile Proofing Tool GUI (with that export feature) and tell people where to download it. So far, two PDFs have been created: 1) pt-PT (5 MB) https://www.dropbox.com/s/roxh284korafzhe/OpenThesaurus_pt-PT_20170413b.pdf?dl=0 2) en-US (23 MB): https://www.dropbox.com/s/26l3yqxzpi5y19n/OpenThesaurus_en-US_20170413.pdf?dl=0 The model can be downloaded also: https://www.dropbox.com/s/26bwx30oo11dfec/OpenThesaurus_en-US-model.odt?dl=0 Thank you for your time! The backspace-key deletes the comments too, but > the user is asked for permission before. LibreOffice deletes comments with > the del-key, even if deleting at backspace-dialog is disabled. Referring to https://help.libreoffice.org/Calc/Deleting_Contents#Comments: Sheet - Clear Cells specifies the contents to be deleted from the active cell or from a selected cell range. This dialog is also called by pressing Backspace after the cell cursor has been activated on the sheet. Pressing Delete deletes content without calling the dialog or changing formats. "Del" deletes the whole contents both in unprotected sheet and in unprotected cell of protected sheet. > Expected behavior: > Never delete comments in write-protected sheets (standard in excel) Without argumentation that would justify that, I consider current LO behavior better: use Backspace or Delete for different behavior. (In reply to gmolleda from comment #3) > I think there should be an option to "[] The user can delete comments in > unprotected cells" to protect a sheet. That would ask for similar from "Delete Contents": text, numbers, formulas... This may be required but as a whole idea, not item by item. I'll add screenshot from MSO which shows various options, and comment is not one of them. I consider the current behavior normal and intuitive: contents of unprotected cells is deleted.
