I doubt there is the ability with spreadsheets to have character styles or else
we would have had it already and the same feature would already exist in Excel,
which it doesnt. If someone disagrees, please reopen.

So the issue is that the names are being pulled from the xml file, so there are
no code strings that can be set for translation.

(In reply to RGB from comment #0)

>
> Writer's default template was set to use "line-spacing proportional at 120%,
> as recommended by Butterick's Practical Typography" (sic), but there is a
> problem here: that 120% should be applied to the font "point size", **not to
> the "single spacing"**.

I looked over the thread and Mirek suggested and approved the implementation so
I believe it was implemented correctly. I further check the specification[1]
and it says "To get line spacing in the 120–145% range, use a value
of 1.03 - 1.24.", which our 120% line spacing is in.

[1] http://practicaltypography.com/line-spacing.html

So to compare, MS currently used Multiple 1.15 with 10pt below paragraph and we
use Multiple 1.20 with 7pt below paragraph.

I believe this bug can be closed as NOTABUG.

This reminded me of bug 105055, and bibisecting points to the same range of
commits as well (~250 commits):

Is there any connection between this and the other, previously fixed bug? No
idea.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 81894] FORMATTING: Text wrap in a cell prevents spell-check context menu accessibility

2017-05-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81894

---
Hi there LibreOffice enthusiasts and QA Team :)

Thanks for following up. We retested. Confirming this bug is still present. No
change in the bug behavior from September 2014 to May 2017.

Using:
• LibreOffice: 5.2.6.2
• LibreOffice Build ID: 1:5.2.6-2-bpo8+1
• LibreOffice Local: en-US (en_CA.UTF-8); Calc: group
• Debian: 8 Jessie at 64bit
• Gnome: 3.14.1

Steps to reproduce bug:
1. Enter a misspelled word in a cell
2. Resize the cell so the misspell word is not visible on your screen.
Note: This action is important because the size of the cell affects the
bug. This bug can be reproduce only when the misspell words is NOT initially
visible on your screen.
3. Double left click the cell to display its content
4. Right click on the misspelled word. Spellcheck context menu will not be
display. Expected result is it should, and it should also suggest correction
options for user to choose from.

Screenshots:
• "Francewhoa---2017-May-29---cell---without-visible-typo.jpg" shows the cell
without visible typo, and before opening it to display its content, including
the misspell word "productivityy"
•
"Francewhoa---2017-May-29---cell---without-visible-typo---after-right-click-does-NOT-work.jpg"
shows the bug. Notice that after user right click on the misspelled word
"productivityy" it does NOT display the spellcheck context menu. Expected
result is it should.
•
"Francewhoa---2017-May-29---cell---with-visible-typo---right-click---works.jpg"
shows that when the misspell word is visible on the screen the bug is not
present, thus can't be reproduce. Notice that right click on the misspelled
word "productivityy" DOES display the spellcheck context menu. In other words,
the size of the cell affects the bug. This bug can be reproduce only when the
misspell words is NOT initially visible on your screen.
• "Francewhoa---2017-May-29---settings---Character.jpg" shows the Character
settings
• "Francewhoa---2017-May-29---settings---Format-Cells.jpg" shows the Format
Cells settings
• "Francewhoa---2017-May-29---About-LibreOffice.jpg" shows the details version
• "Francewhoa---2017-May-29---speadsheet.ods" was used for all of the above
tests

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 100849] Currency icon is har =?UTF-8?Q?dcoded=20to=20=E2=80=9C=24=E2=80=9D?=, which is inappropriate to locales not using dollars

2017-05-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=100849

--- Comment #24 from Yousuf Philips (jay) ---
This issue is getting really complicated when the simple solution is to find an
icon metaphor that works.

The current 'pile of coins' icon doesnt work and i vote for the return of the
dollar sign icon I created because of all the points i've already mentioned and
its also available in sifr and breeze. As i created it in gimp, the icon is to
be created in inkscape by a designer whenever they show up.

The other option is the bank note and we can add the dollar sign in the middle
to give it more readability and we'd have to get someone to design it for
tango, as it wont work for breeze or sifr.

between adjacent cells is a falsehood. Functionally, there's only one - you can
only see one - why should you have to guess which cell it's attached to?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 108234] New: Border dropdown in Formatting Toolbar Doesn' t Account for Adjacent Borders

2017-05-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=108234

Bug ID: 108234
Summary: Border dropdown in Formatting Toolbar Doesn't Account
for Adjacent Borders
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.3.2 release
  Hardware: x86 (IA32)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: timbacont...@gmail.com

Description:
Calc's border logic is badly broken and inferior to Excel.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open attached spreadsheet
2. select B3 with the intent of removing the white border between B2 and B3
3. in the formmatting toolbar, select the icon for no border

Actual Results:
nothing happens

Expected Results:
border should be removed

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
The core problem is that while the border the user sees between B2 and B3 uses
the same pixels whether it's attached to B2 or B3, there is no way for user to
know which cell it's attached to. Invisibly attaching the border to one of the
adjacent cells is the design flaw. If not for this, the "Remove Border"
checkbox in the Format Cells dialog would be unnecessary, saving literally
thousands of unnecessary clicks for the serious user. But this problem is
further compounded by the failure to add the functionality of "remove border"
to the the Formatting toolbar icon.

My user experience (and I'm approaching 1000 hours of using this program -
strictly for formatting - no math), is that Calc is a passive aggressive entity
that seeks to tempt with with time-saving features, only to do everything in
its power to keep those features from working. Another problem is the "recent
colors" display - I haven't figured out the exact bug yet, but it has a way of
not showing the correct color. And of course this stems from your ill-advised
choice to use different color defaults than Excel. You must realize that almost
everyone who uses your program learned on Excel and left Excel because it was
so annoying. Why don't you welcome us by making this transition easy and
enjoyable instead of being so passive aggressive?

To add insult to injury, you changed the name (and presumably some aspect of)
the Remove Borders checkbox when you did the 5.3 version. Why on earth didn't
you just fix it then?

Textboxes in Writer dont have the ability to have paragraph and character
styles apply to it, so this is the correct behaviour. To be able to have styles
applied to text in a textbox type object, insert a shape, and then add a
textbox to it through the context menu.

Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: tony...@vif.com

Description:
A paragraph can be given the property "Page break before" with the sequence:
  Format | Paragraph | Text Flow | Insert(on), Type(Page), Position(Before)

If the paragraph is inside a table, the Insert() check-box is grayed out.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a new document in Writer.
2. Display formatting marks - View | Formatting Marks
3. Insert a 2 x 2 table - Table | Insert Table | Insert
4. Place cursor in any cell of the first column of the table.
5. Show Text Flow dialog - Format | Paragraph | Text Flow

Actual Results:
In the Text Flow dialog, the Insert box is disabled.

Expected Results:
In the Text Flow dialog, the Insert box should be enabled.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
If the cursor is placed in a paragraph which is not inside a table, then the
Insert box is enabled. If it is checked, the paragraph is moved to the next
page (i.e. it has a page break before).

In MS Word, it is possible to give the property "Page break before" to a
paragraph inside a table. I the paragraph is in a cell of the first column of a
table, this causes the row to be moved to the next page.

The attached file was created in MS Word 97.
The two paragraphs with the text "bb" both have the "Page break before"
property and are placed at the top of a new page when printed in MS Word.

Goto https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/tree/sd/qa/unit/data/pptx
In the line cshapes.pptx go to the right side and click on text "plain". Save
the file. Open it in LibreOffice. It is a collection of all those shapes. Copy
and paste the desired shape to your document.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=107682

Marco Cecchetti changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 CC||vmik...@collabora.co.uk

A patch is available on gerrit:

master:
https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/#/c/38165/

Some notes for who is interested in the whole story:

The debbugging session performed didn't point out anything interesting,
moreover the debug log performed in BitmapEx.GetChecksum showed different
checksums for each one of the 4 bitmaps, and since in the checksum computation
is included the alpha channel too, it masked the fact that
ImpBitmap::GetChecksum returned 0. Fortunately Aron noticed that by copying the
removed code (old implementation) in Bitmap::GetChecksum when nRet == 0, the
exported PDF was correct and that the checksum was 0 with the new
implementation and != 0 with the old one. After a bit of investigation I found
out that the difference was due to the buffer acquire methods: in
Bitmap::Checksum (old implementation) Bitmap::AcquireReadAccess is used to get
the bitmap buffer: indeed this method relies on SalBitmap::AcquireBuffer (which
is used in the new implementation) but in case the buffer acquisition fails,
instead of giving up, it tries to update the imp bitmap instance embedded in
the bitmap (see BitmapInfoAccess::ImplCreate).
The solution is to perform this further attemp in Bitmap::Checksum when the
value returned by ImpBitmap::GetChecksum is 0.

That looks just as a line with an X and the name & function below.
>From what I remember, combined with a third party application, the cross is
replaced by a picture of a signature, that also changes if the document is
changed, to show the signature is no longer valid.

But for the line and cross and name, would a text block (Autotext) be helpful?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 108206] Paragraph drop down menu control should display " Default Style" or "Text Body" by default

2017-05-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Interesting ideas.
Related to consider: Next style in Headings is Text Body.

Changing the default template looks OK to me.
Removing Default from the drop-down might panic people, whom don't know what to
do.. or?

bug behavior in version 3.3

Hi!

I can confirm that this bug is still present in the last stable version today
(5.3.3.2).

I installed the lastest beta version available today
(LibreOfficeDev_5.4.0.0.beta1_Win_x86) and the bug is still present.

As suggested, I installed the version 3.3. And the bug itself, as reported by
the user meltemkal...@odakgis.com.tr is not presente. But in this version the
header and footer are not shown at all. The content of header and footer appear
in the begin and in the end of the document, but not as header and footer as
they should be. Instead they appear as part os the document. See the attachment
"Behavior in version 3.3.png".

You are correct. I didn't know that the fix for that other bug had been
reverted to solve another problem so I thought this was a new bug.

OK, thank you very much, I see what you're talking about now. It looks like it
is a duplicate of this bug #71409 :
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=71409

For me it's the same behavior and result. Can you confirm ?

Best regards.

Bug still present in LO 5.2.5.1. Tested with opensuse 42.1. Would be really
nice to get it solved.

The information you provide is really useful. The better thing you can do to
help us to figure out this issue is to check which commit introduces this
issue. To do that there is a mechanism name bibisecting.

You could find more information here :
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Bibisect

You can contact me on IRC with the nickname "alexarnaud" on Freenode (channel
#libreoffice-design) if you need help or by mail.

It could be a great help if someone helps the QA team to find where the
regression were introduced.

Best regards.
