[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 66791] FORMATTING: Incorrect application of "Asian text font"

2017-06-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=66791

--- Comment #8 from Eric Ding <63jbnak...@snkmail.com> ---
Four years after the initial report, this bug still exists in LibreOffice 5.3.4
(running on Windows) with a mix of East Asian (CJK) and non-CJK fonts and text.

Well, wouldn't we expect this to have been happening since each will use a
different import filter? Assume bug 108706 would shift all filter sources to
the generic.

Probably best for simplicity to use a common "Loading document" label for each

The label isnt consistent across apps (bug 108706) and sometimes doesnt show
(bug 108707).

> Normally it flashes up so quickly, you won't notice it. I had to dummy up a
> 800 page document to show it long enough during normal loads.

Yes most users wont notice the progress bar unless it is a large/complex file
or if the loading process has stalled.

> Question would be if that status/progress bar does "hang", or could be made
> to do so, and if we can extend it with a button widget to abort the loading
> of a hung document. It is already in the best location.

Yep the devs have to give their input on whether it is even possible to exit
out of the import routine with the proposed 'cancel' button.

Meeks, Thorsten, Samuel, Maxim: Any thoughts?

If you open a document in Impress, the status bar label says 'Load Document',
while in Calc is says 'Loading document' and in Writer it says 'Loading
document...'. These labels should be unified to a single label to reduce
duplication and translation unless the labels want to be unique like 'Loading
presentation', 'Loading spreadsheet', etc.

Also i would assume we dont need the three dots at the end of the label, as we
use three dots in labels to identify opening of dialogs.

trying to complete.

To give you a better sense of the history:
1. I started out with a set of references of which I put the information in the
database by using tools->bibliography.
2. Added references in the document to entries in the database.
3. Generated the Bibliography in the document. All might have been ok at this
point (not entirely sure).
4. Added new elements in the database using tools->bibliography.
5. Generated the Bibliography in the document again. I think it was at this
point where information was not included in the document, although it appear in
the database view of tools->bibliography.

I may have used the database directly at a much after that when I noticed that
the Bibliography did not get fully updated when using tools->bibliography.

I don't know how to get out of this state since I the explanation under the
link you provided was not entirely clear to me.

Any suggestions would be welcome to get out of this state so that I can finish
my work.

BTW, I recall that I reported this issue several years ago and other people had
similar issues. I don't know it the issue got lost with the transition form OO
to LO or it was deemed to be resolved.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 108696] Add PDF type/quality drop down menu list to PDF export dialog

2017-06-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=108696

@Jay, not so sure we need or want to do this and that the current behavior is
best. And that to control the configuration of the PDF use the menu entry, to
take defaults (or current configuration) use the Export button.

The Toolbar button is linked to ".uno:ExportDirectToPDF" [1] and gets
description from help as: "Exports the current document directly as PDF. No
settings dialog is shown." [2] It opens an OS or LO native dialog "Export" with
just the "PDF - Portable Document Format (.pdf)" filter.

+SID_DIRECTEXPORTDOCASPDF,6674,.uno:ExportDirectToPDF

While the Menu entry is linked to ".uno:ExportToPDF" no description, that opens
the "PDF Options" dialog for configuration of the export filter, and then on
export sends via the same OS or Native Export dialog with limited droplist.

Intentionally not passing through the dialog, believe we take the configuration
of the last PDF export.

+SID_EXPORTDOCASPDF,6673,.uno:ExportToPDF

Point is, the Toolbar button is "intended" to be streamlined, while the menu
entry is intended to provide full configuration.

looks like i was wrong about the layout loop, the layout does indeed never
finish and hog the CPU, but if you are more patient than i was initially
you can modify the document (probably it's easier if you don't use a
slow --enable-dbgutil build).

the section has the m_bEndnAtEnd flag set - this causes it to be created with a
SwColumnFrame despite only 1 column.

there is a single 1-column section covering the entire bugdoc.

there are endnotes but not footnotes in bugdoc.

crash is caused by: FindFootnoteBossFrame is called wrongly with
bFootnotes=true for a endnote, then it is placed in the endnote
SwFootnoteContFrame instead of the page's

... and then i asked valgrind and it reported a couple of user-after-frees ...

the crash is fixed on master, the layout still there but that's a separate bug
:)

No option to Open Another Form

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 108697] New default set of bullet characters

2017-06-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=108697

@Jay, *

Agree some change to that list are needed, and perhaps expand in the UI as for
bug 106507

current list of bullets is here:

http://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/svx/source/dialog/svxbmpnumvalueset.cxx#68

But, we are limited to what we provide hardcoded to OpenSymbol; and that font
will likely need additional glyphs and movement of glyphs from PUA to correct
Unicode codepoint.

For example:
BLACK DIAMOND SUIT U+e00c -> U+2666
BLACK SQUARE U+e00a -> U+25a0

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 108699] New: Losing Jump Lists on update

2017-06-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=108699

Bug ID: 108699
Summary: Losing Jump Lists on update
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: PowerPC
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: lynneconnoll...@yahoo.co.uk

Every time I do an update to Libre Office (64 bit) I lose the jump lists from
my Taskbar. I've already amended Windows to show more items in the Jump Lists,
and I rely on the Writer ones to show me what I'm working on. But an update
wipes everything out. The shortcut is rendered invalid, and doesn't work any
more. Any chance of stopping this happening?

The in-place field editing is very useful, but as noted the old dialog really
was efficient for sequentially completing a form template, and unfortunately
the current "Edit Fields" dialog does not provide editing of the field values.
You can change the field(s) but not the actual content. Not the best for
completing a form.

While the old dialog probably needed to go, the "Edit Fields" dialog needs
rework to supplement the in-place field editing.

The in-place field editing [1] is functional.

The double click, or context menu, to open "Edit Fields" dialog is correct and
consistent behavior and has been present since 4.2 as noted, picked up from AOO
work [2].

Unfortunately it probably is not the correct dialog as the Edit Fields dialog
does not actually allow editing of the field content [3].

We have bug 79877 (and better discussion in dupe bug 75319) to rather than the
"Edit Fields" dialog use the Field input dialog for proforma entry--as used to
be connected to the .uno:UpdateInputFields and assigned the F9_SHIFT_F1 short
cut, but that remains non functional for sequential editing of templated forms.

Setting this as duplicate of tdf#79877

This was confirmed before defining the resolution.
On image insert, OO and LO 3.3 had anchor to cell as default. LO 3.4 and on has
anchor to page as default.
Let's ask someone why it was changed and why we should change it back based on
single example.
Other possibility is to have option on insert image dialog to set image's
anchor type: ToCell or ToPage, as in previous comment. I support that but we
need to change title then.

PS: There was crash on this file with 6.0+ which was fixed with Bug 108610.

So now some users complain because they are used to the ridiculous old input
field and the new behaviour is change for the worse for them [1] You can't make
everyone happy.

So how about restoring the old behaviour and hiding it behind some, dunno,
'EnableLegacyFieldEditing' expert config option?

TextEdit and iWork Pages have a dash preset, though Pages uses U+2D.

iWork Pages has a similar fully filled right arrow with a stem.

iWork Pages has a similar right arrow with a stem, though it is thicker.

We definitely need a better set of defaults, which should be discussed as a
whole as in bug 108697.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 108600] Inconsistent background color painting

In the second case the rendering is wrong. A margin is _always_ transparent.

The wrong behavior has been introduced long time ago in OOo, when it was not
possible to have a padding without border line. But in the meantime LO has
implemented a padding without border line, so that now users can get the
desired effect by setting the margin to 0 and increasing the padding.

Similar problems are already handled in bug 106021 and bug 39756.

Nevertheless it is a question, how to make the UI, so that users get the
desired effect of continues color and at the same time follow ODF.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 108696] New: Add PDF type/ quality drop down menu list to PDF export dialog

2017-06-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=108696

Bug ID: 108696
Summary: Add PDF type/quality drop down menu list to PDF export
dialog
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Printing and PDF export
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: philip...@hotmail.com
CC: libreoffice-ux-adv...@lists.freedesktop.org
Blocks: 108693

Created attachment 134212
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=134212=edit
MS PDF export

The PDF export filename dialog has no options in it other than being able to
set the filename and when this dialog appears when a user clicks the 'Export as
PDF' button in the standard toolbar, they dont get access to any of the options
found in the File > Export dialog, so it would be useful to be able to set the
type or quality of the exported PDF with a drop down menu list.

This drop down menu list should have options for hybrid pdf, archive pdf/a-1,
as well as various compression settings for various uses (e.g. printing, online
sharing).

A similar features is available both in MS Word and WordPerfect.
