Highlighting does not work

I have a textbox with some text highlighted. There is no problem in editing
mode, but when I am in diaporama mode the text is not highlighted.

I've tested the same file under Windows: there was no bug
I had first the bug with LibreOffice 5.1 (from Linux Mint 18.2 repository),
then I installed LO 5.3, but the bug is still there.

Tested in safe-mode: bug still there

Chipset: VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core
Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09)
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2520M CPU @ 2.50GHz

Ah, that was the bug I read about and lost again :-). And NO, I tested this
with spell checking disabled. However enabling spell checking will make matters
worse.

And that is exactly my point. Who on earth can remember a single recent release
where there was stability on the default user choice for colors. Slow down

svx: make SdrGrafObj::mpReplacementGraphic swappable

These GraphicObjects clog up the GraphicManager cache so it's
effectively useless.

Round-tripping the ML bugdoc, this doesn't provide much of a
speed-up by itself, but together with the previous fix it goes from
3:00 to 1:30 (in an optimized build).

xmloff: ODF export: fix redundant setting of GraphicStreamURL swapping

XMLShapeExport::ImpExportGraphicObjectShape() unnecessarily swaps out
the GraphicObject by calling setPropertyValue("GraphicStreamURL")
even if the URL didn't actually change from what was retrieved
just a couple lines earlier, incidentally swapping it in too.

Well actually it isn't really swapped out, it's marked as auto-swapped,
but nevertheless on getting the "ReplacementGraphicURL" property
its Graphic will be replaced by swapping it in again.

So don't do that, then it's only swapped in once.

I tried with a daily build and I wasn't able to open an odf-file or create a
new one (I enabled the experimental mode). Thus I couldn't verify if the bug is
already present or fixed.

FYI: I had the same issue with the current LibreOffice Viewer from the
Playstore (6.0.0 Alpha). It wasn't able to open a file on my tablet. The old
viewer was able to open such files (maybe take a bit of time).

The problem seems to occur when I have several forms open making changes to the
data.

I would prefer not to ship the odb file to you.  It contains some sensitive
info.

I can do tests for you to look for bugs.  I am an engineer who wrote software
for some 40 years in Fortran, Lisp, C++, java,... on topics ranging from
simulation of solar-energy systems to simulation of simple nuclear-power
systems for space applications to water and contaminant transport modeling and
building geometry (surroundings) from various sensors like "laser
range-finders" (robotics).  I have way to much experience looking for bugs!

BTW, an up-to-date tutorial about moving from the embedded hsqldb to an
external database using something like MariaDB would be very helpful.  Yes,
there are old tutorials on the web that treat "bits and pieces" of such a move
-- although I may have missed a newer one.  I would be quite willing to read
the new tutorial, use it AND provide feedback to the author to make it better.

I have tried several Italian mirrors but the result remains unaltered.
Completely uninstalling and reinstall libreoffice does not solve the problem

This does not happen with version 5.3.7.2 that I currently have installed.

Yes, I have this option set. In fact, when a text is copied with Ctrl-C it can
be pasted by the middle mouse button correctly. But if it is just selected by
mouse, both Ctrl-V and middle button fail. Thus, it is a problem of copying
rather than pasting.

In fact, I remember this problem from the first versions of Open/LibreOffice I
used many many years ago. But since lastly I began to use LibreOffice more

The Help wiki is read-only, generated from the help content. There is currently
an effort (in the planning stages) to make the help content editable online. It
will not be in a wiki, but some other system.

Our homegrown XHP format presents some challenges. Yet, it seems we are not
going to convert to HTML at this point.

As you are an experienced web engineer, perhaps you would have some insight on
the matter. The documentation team leader Olivier Hallot can be contacted on
IRC #libreoffice-doc @ Freenode. Nickname: ohallot, timezone: Rio de Janeiro.

3.6 does not hide the Header in the same step, but it does hide the "Content"
in the previous step (of line breaks).

Maybe it would be useful to bibisect it anyhow.

Because of the Miklos' comments in gerrit patch.
Jenkins says it's ok for the build and the tests associated but I don't think
there are hundreds of pdfs tested.
This patch makes this case ok but, since neither Miklos nor I know pdf enough,
it could trigger lots of regressions.
I wouldn't like to potentially provide a lot of extra work to QA, there's
already enough when you see the number of existing cases just to fix this
bugtracker.

The next step could be to propose the patch on dev mailing list but since I
guessed more this patch than really understood how the whole thing worked, I
suppose I'd be bashed :-)

If you expect TOC entries, i.e. the headings in a file to be Named Destinations
too, then yes.

As Jos pointed out, Named Destinations are created. But only from the bookmarks
(to names objects). And the resulting Named Destinations are not visible as
bookmark in a PDF reader side panel, since it are destinations "to link to
those objects by name from other documents."

Stumbled across a compound string while updating translation for upcoming 6.0
version. It's the title of "search format" dialog (In Writer, choose Edit -
Find & Replace - Other options - Format...).

"Text Format " = key-ID 2nKNE, location: searchformatdialog.ui:8
"(Search) = key-ID AbxGn, location: strings.hrc:1205

Compound strings are bad (ask any translator), so this should be substituted
with a proper single string: "Text Format (Search)", or better yet, "Search
Text Format".

Apparently it has been like this for long time (and it actually used to be
worse: "Text Format(Search)" - note the missing space), so I'm not sure about
the earliest affected version (inherited from OOo?).

Hi,

I have thought about using a split database with something like MariaDB.  But I
have not seen a good tutorial on making the switch.  I started a time or two
and gave up.  I would like to export data, forms, reports, queries,  I do
not mind spending a day or two to get back to my current setup if it would be
roughly the same.  I exported this database once from a DOS database
(cornerstone) and that was a lot of work!

Hi,

I have MANY backups of the database .odb file.  I could go back a year or two
to see if the problem exists.  Some times it takes an hour or two of use before
it shows up.

I have seen the problem a time or two with 5.1.6.2.  Sometimes, even if I do a
"Force" quit I see soffice.bin running in "top" and have to kill it with "kill
-9 ###"

I was using 5.3.3 before and did not see the problem.  But, during the summer I
am busy doing other things and may not have stressed it enough then.

How does one un-corrupt a file.  Yes I could go back to a odb file that appears
OK, but the work involved may be monumental to update to "current".
It would be nice if someone would write some software to test basic stuff for
corruption, like "relataionships" - see attached jpeg.

Resolves: tdf#92982 vcl rendercontext: handle buffered paint of vcl::Cursor
Instead of painting on the vcl::Window directly, take a
PaintBufferGuard, and use the vcl::RenderContext of it, that may be
either the vcl::Window or the toplevel frame's buffer.

Trigger the paint of the buffer by informing the guard what area was
painted. In case of direct painting, both the ctor and the dtor of the
guard is a NOP.

This means that finally we can also assert Invert() calls on the output
device, so that direct paint can't happen when double-buffering.
