This would make no sense. Our direct formatting and styles are applied to the
paragraph as objects held on a page object; indentations, spacing, numbering,
etc. are attributes of the paragraph.

What you are asking for is to maintain line spacing that would break paragraph
object attributes--we won't do that and this is INVALID.

However, if you insist on manually formatting each line (rather than allowing
the paragraph object to demark its text breaks within margins and indents) it
is a simple practice to use + to break your lines with a .

Then each inserted will be filter exported to end each line in a Text
formated file as HEX 0a, with Paragraph ends rendered as 0a0d.

You should be able to work with the resulting text file as you prefer.

Setting Resolved => INVALID

An option (defaulting to "No") to output an end-of-line for each

2017-12-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=114251

Bug ID: 114251
   Summary: Hang loading spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.1.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

Description:
The lastest master hangs while loading the attached spreadsheet. The hang is
not CPU-bound, so might be a deadlock.

REGRESSION -- earlier builds (including 6.0.0.0.alpha) did not hang

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Download the attached "hang.ods"
2. /path/to/program/soffice hang.ods
Do not enable macros (if prompted)

Actual Results:
LO window becomes unresponsive.

"top" show a java process running with low CPu (1.7%).

Expected Results:
No hang.

Reproducible: Always

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 114250] New: More document tabs in several main project windows in a Multi-Document-Interface (MDI)

2017-12-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=114250

Bug ID: 114250
Summary: More document tabs in several main project windows in
a Multi-Document-Interface (MDI)
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.1.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: UI
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: cson...@halmai.hu

It would be nice to have a capability to keep several opened documents in one
application window, similarly to how a modern browser can handle many tabs in
several browser windows.

For example, if I have 10 documents open in LO, plus 8 other applications then
I may want to organise them somehow. Now I have two options in Windows:

- group all similar applications into one icon on the taskbar
- keep everything separately.

The first one would merge all the opened LO files into one icon so I would have
9 icons all together (8 for the non-LO applications plus one for all the LO
files). The second option would produce 18 icons on the task bar.

I would like to organise my 10 opened LO documents in, say, three windows:
- Project #1: doc1.odt, doc2.odt, doc3.odt, spr1.ods, spr2.ods
- Project #2: doc4.odt, drw1.odg, drw2.odg
- Project #3: spr3.ods, spr4.ods.

This would show 8+3=11 icons on the taskbar, 8 for the non-LO applications and
3 for the LO windows.

One benefit is the better organised documents. Another, maybe even more
important benefit would be that when I close the window of Project #1 then I
could re-open all the files of that particular project with one click.

All three approaches are not viable. Using a stray function name within an
expression would be a completely exceptional case to all formula parsing, SUM
is a function name that expects opening parenthesis, argument(s) and closing
parenthesis. For the same reason in SUBTOTAL(SUM(B2:B5)) the result of summing
the range B2:B5 is the argument to the SUBTOTAL function. Literal text as
arguments does not play with translated UI functions.

Furthermore, but not least, SUBTOTAL is *defined* by two standards to have the
first argument as a function number and all spreadsheet applications interpret
it as such.

Won't implement.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 114249] New: FILEOPEN, UI: "Text Import" dialog: option to treat every column as "text"

2017-12-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=114249

Bug ID: 114249
Summary: FILEOPEN, UI: "Text Import" dialog: option to treat
every column as "text"
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.4.3.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: cle...@gmail.com

Description:
By default, importing text into calc imports everything column as 'standard';
this may lead to unintended results[1]. A firsthand example is pasting barcodes
(i.e. text strings) which begin with leading zeroes - calc by default treats
these as numbers.

[1]:
https://science.slashdot.org/story/16/08/23/258/20-of-scientific-papers-on-genes-contain-conversion-errors-caused-by-excel-says-report

Steps to Reproduce:
1. paste/open csv data with leading zeroes (e.g. "1")
2. in the import dialog, leave column type as "standard"
3. (note that the data is still presented as "1" in the preview)
4. click ok
5. input gets converted to "1"

Actual Results:
input gets changed to number (e.g. "1")

Expected Results:
depending on task, "1" may be intended

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Additional Info:
I suggest a checkbox with text like "treat all input as text", which
disables/greys out the "column type" dropdown, and changes all column types to
"text" - leaving that box checked should make it much harder to shoot oneself
in the foot by accidentally converting strings to numbers/dates

Snapshot of the requested password to open file

Hello,

Thanks very much for your help.

Question : Does it ask the password upon file open?

Answer : Yes, it asks the password upon file open. Please see attached file

Yes, next time I know I should save the file under another name. I thought it
was possible to open, edit, save .xls or .xlsx with any software (Office or
LibreOffice).

For information, initial Excel password was a rather simple password built with
4 numbers (1 through 9). Now I have no idea how many digits and which type of
caracters are in the new password assigned by CALC.

I have already had the file scanned by the tool : Advanced Office 97 Password
Recovery. Although I set this tool o scan all types of caracteres from 1 up to
5 digits, it failed to find out the password.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Francis HERBERT

You can go into your user profile %APPDATA%\LibreOffice\4\user and edit the
registrymodifications.xcu file to set UseOpenGL stanzas to "false". If things
restart and you have a useable UI--issue is OpenGL.

Also, the Radeon 17.11.2 build's 17.40.2511 (Windows 23.20.783.0) could be the
issue with your RX 400 series GPU and LibreOffice's OpenGL.

You could roll back the GPU driver to the 17.40.1031 (Windows 23.20.788.0) from
the Radeon Crimson ReLive 17.11.1 build and retest.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 114246] FILEOPEN: Read-only file is open with design mode enabled.

2017-12-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=114246

--- Comment #5 from Lionel Elie Mamane ---
For full clarity: The user needs to go _once_ in edit mode, configure the
document to open forms in non-design mode, save the document, and from then on
the "problem" is solved _forever_ for this document. Or do that at the same
time he sets the document to open in read-only mode.

Indeed, before 2014 my patch, read-only document had form design mode
artificially forced to off. Since these are two orthogonal (independent)
settings (and behaviours), it seems clearer and easier to me to understand what
happens if they are kept orthogonal. Maybe that's too geeky a worldview, and
I'll respect the UX's team opinion on that.

*But* note that just reverting the relevant hunk from my patch (file
svx/source/form/fmview.cxx method FmFormView::Init) will create problems for
Base form documents (which are Writer documents embedded in an odb container).
That is because Base form documents do _not_ have a switch to go to edit mode
once they are in read-only mode _unless_ they are in "form design mode". So
forcing form design mode to off in read-only mode leads to an inescapable
situation where the form document can never be edited again. See bug 44081 for
that.

Maybe we could do it the other way round for Base form documents: ignore their
read-only property when they are open in edit / form design mode. That could be
workable and give another (quite natural) way out of the inescapable situation.

I'm able to create a zip archive out of my user profile. Do you need this? If

Yep, I know it can be changed, but the user needs to go to 'Edit mode' and
then, change it.
My question is: should the design mode be disabled by default if the document
is read-only ?
I've seen users having problem filling the forms because of this and from my
point of view, it should be disabled by default.

Writer, Calc, or whatever. I didn't change anything at LibreOffice. I just
updated Windows 10 and my GPU driver, although I think it is unrelated.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start LibreOfficeDev 6.0 Beta 1

Actual Results:
Crashing without any error message shown. Windows detects a crash of the
application and asks me if I wanna debug it.

Expected Results:
Normal LibreOffice launch.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
My other LibreOffice installation (stable one) works fine.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 114201] i18n: add language Plautdietsch [pdt-CA]

Just saw the RFE now after I already answered the mail on the l10n list and
added pdt-CA to the language listbox.

We usually don't backport UI string changes to existing releases because that
would impose work on the l10n teams where suddenly an English entry would be
visible in an otherwise translated UI. That being said, 4.3.x is way EOL ... if
you want to backport that to any old distro you'd have to talk to the package
maintainers, but I doubt that would be successful.

Fwiw, the commit adding this to master is
https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=01c7c4e1cb074f88440336068285495743bd6b37
and I can cherry-pick it to 6-0 as well, but no earlier release.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 114116] Dialog "assign datasource" in Writer doesn' t display the source name in the list

2017-12-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=114116

Hey Xisco,

"Are you sure the dialog isn't closed in LibreOffice 5.4?"

No... I have not test this in former versions.

This was just a additional information for better UI design. If you do have two
different buttons, they should do different things - visible to the user.

actual there is the same behaviour.

So my advice would be, that the button "assign" should only assign the
data-base and refresh the left list, so the user can see, what he has done.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 108267] Calc: for some tasks nearly unusable/ error provoking because of word completions

2017-12-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon

I think, it's an obvious need to have a (simple) possibility to unset every of
the "comfort options" which are changing user input. To have such an option
would be all I would need.

In the last month I've seen some nasty errors in my data set due to bothersome
automatic cell entry completions, which I had to correct by inspecting old data
savings of more than a year. I'm hoping I've got all.
Trying to avoid such a painful and time consuming action I'm now therefore
using Gnumeric for one of my calc files, knowing that this product is setting
up an usage problem Calc isn't having.

For me it's therefore less necessary that you're holding your product at a
useful stage.
I'm hoping, that in future concurrent products are mature enough to leave Calc.

tdf#112931 always signal AllUserEventsProcessed
If the last user event triggers a nested event loop, there is
no event in the nested loop, but AllUserEventsProcessed will
not be signaled, resulting in a busy loop in the gtk backend.

So just always signal AllUserEventsProcessed, if it was not
yet signaled.

While at it catch and std::abort on uncaught exceptions and fix
the default to have been signaled, so we won't signal on an
empty list on first run.

I probably reported this multiple times, sorry. Most likely bug 113105 (or bug
113137)
Xisco's opinion for bug 113105 -> Taking into account it's a 1486 pages file, I
would say it's kind of expected -> NOTABUG

The test file posted here is 985 pages.. So not sure what to do.. I would still
call it a bug (it did work better in the past) only with a low & minor
importance. Closing feels like sweeping it under the carpet..

Maybe an easy way would be listing those in the help text on the function
wizard.

If a manner can be I think would be as in the CELL() function with the required
function name as text inside quotes.

In any case a request for enhancement.

While the proposal is pretty nice we reworked the start center in the past and
intentionally excluded file management functions. Without an issue and use case
it's a WONTFIX.

The graphic is an SVG image. But I agree with not fiddling around with the size
calculation => WFM.
