[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 114080] FILESAVE: "Save as Text" doesn' t put end-of-line after each line shown on screen

(In reply to Jay Michael from comment #16)

> > Setting Resolved => INVALID
>
> Is INVALID further from me getting what I want than WONTFIX was?

No. For this "enhancement" to be denied WONTFIX would require it to be a valid
request. INVLAID is simply stating that the issue reported or requested
development is out of scope or inappropriate for the project.

You comment "I expect...", "...text I want", "I expect this mainly because it
seems to me to be the obvious behavior..."

And we are telling you what you get with LibreOffice's Save-As handling of
.txt, as you confirm for yourself in comment 7.

Our internal layout handling (line width, indentation, kerning, justification)
deals with text streams composed onto a document canvas. The line breaks are
not stored with the stream--rather are recalculated dynamically as controlled
by paragraph endings, or manual Line feeds and as influenced by other objects
present on the document canvas.

When filter exported to .txt, the paragraph endings (and any manual line feeds)
will be included but no other formatting or layout. Typical text with just
paragraph ends will not be wrapped in the .txt export result. That is normal
and expected.

Your request would require development of a new, more complicated export filter
that would need to interpret the text layout onto document canvas and then
correctly insert linefeeds to maintain the same line breaks in the exported
text. It is abnormal and not otherwise expected and frankly too specialized to
be anything more than a corner case.

These types of specialized tools are appropriately handled as extensions--not
in the LibreOffice core.

"FILESAVE: "Save as Text" doesn't put end-of-line after each line shown on
screen" => INVALID, because it is the correct behavior, nor should it.

I don't think that's what I'm asking for. What I'm asking for is for the
output of "Save as Text" to look like you would make it look if you were
printing on a text-only printer.

I don't insist on manually formatting each line. I'm trying to get
LibreOffice to figure out where to break lines of a paragraph, and then
communicate that decision to the text file.

Very similar to the problem they are having, but I just CAN'T save a file that
has even ONE symmetric transition, bezier curved arrow in it. The error popup
says:

"Error saving the document BypassFSM:
Write Error.
The file could not be written"

The minute I delete the one bezier curve that I've tried, the problem goes
away. I do have some crashes some time later, but I am running Flash in Mozilla
and Virtualbox with Windows7 in it at the same time and probably have put the
computer asleep at least once by the time I get to a crash, so can't really
blame Open Office Draw yet.

I'm trying to draw some Control Flow diagrams for a PLC program and the Finite
State Machines that are in my program, and I really need curved arrows. So for
me, it's a show stopper.

PS, the keyword limited choices is EXTREMELY annoying.

Thank you for advising your design blog which refers to Impress. Will reworked
dialog be implement across the LO suite (including Writer)?

Could you please advise which figure in the rework dialogs enable the tabs and
bullets/numbering to be independent of each other?

Have you checked the default behaviour of other Office suites? Google Docs and
MS Word Bullets and Numbering do not change the tab positions; hence, could you
please advise:
1. Where the option is to enable tab positions to be independent of the bullets
and numbering; or
2. How to write the enhancement bug ticket so that a workflow similar to Google
Docs and MS Word can be enabled in LO Writer.

Thank you

2017-12-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103080

No fonts should be removed before completion of the missing fonts features
improvements.
Simply delay this until then.
There is no urgency in the need to remove these few fonts.

That will make users lives much, much easier.

Otherwise you are going to create a giant $h!tstorm of confused, frustrated,
angry users.
For what?
Why now?

Get the current missing fonts mess cleaned-up first.
Then deleting a few font files will not have as much of a potential impact.

Of course Ray-the-moron will not even notice.
But many, many government, academic, and business users will notice.
And have to deal with it.
How much will be the lost productivity cost to those real entities?

In fact, there's no need to insert an image.

3) create a new sheet (cursor is automatically put on A1 of the new sheet)
4) delete the new sheet

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 114246] FILEOPEN: Read-only file is open with design mode enabled.

2017-12-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=114246

--- Comment #8 from Lionel Elie Mamane ---
(In reply to Xisco Faulí from comment #6)
> once the document is changed to non design mode,
> it will remain like that forever,
> but you can't expect all users to know that.

> This kind of documents with forms are usually sent to many other users,
> and if it's sent in design mode and not everyone will be able
> to switch to non design mode.

My point was that only _ONE_ person needs to "know that" and "switch to
non-design mode": the person designing the form, and sending it to many other
users. I think we can expect a higher level of knowledge from a person
designing a form, and sending it to many other persons, than from the many
other persons that get the form and are only supposed to fill it in.

To my ears, "if it is sent in design mode" sounds like "if it is sent
read-write instead of read-only". Why do we expect the sender to know about the
"open in read-only mode" bit in file/properties, but not about the "open in
non-design mode" bit in the forms toolbar?

(In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #7)
> The question is whether a document is automatically saved in non-design mode
> and users have to enable the edit before working on the forms design.

No. The question is whether a document that is saved in read-only mode should
also be opened automatically in form non-design mode, even though it is
configured to open in form design mode (that is, the office:forms element has a
attribute form:apply-design-mode="true").

> If edit is off, neither design nor input is possible.

That is not the current situation, AFAIK never was, and is contrary to my
understanding of the use case. My understanding of the use case is:

 * one person, a more technically knowledgeable one, designs the form.
I call that person the "designer".
 * The designer "finalises" the form document and sends it to many other
persons
 * the many other persons fill in data in the form (what you called "input")

The discussion is what the designer has to do to "finalise" the form. My
understanding of the use case is that the designer sets the document to
read-only (so that no change OUTSIDE OF FORM ELEMENTS can be done), in order to
"force/encourage" the many persons to put their data IN THE FORM ELEMENTS and
not in the document itself (which will not work if the form is HTTP-submitted,
or writes to a SQL database, etc).

So it is critical to this use case that data entry in the form (input) is
allowed when the document is in read-only mode.

What Xisco is asking is that the "finalisation" of the document by the designer
consist only in one step, namely:

1) go to menu file, properties, tab "security", check "open file read-only"
this sets, in settings.xml, "LoadReadOnly" to the boolean "true".
then save the file, send it to many people

The situation now, since 2014, is that the finalisation requires _two_ steps:

1) go to menu file, properties, tab "security", check "open file read-only"
2) in the "form design" toolbar, click on the "open in design mode" button,
so that the button is no pressed.
this sets the form:apply-design-mode="true" attribute in the forms element
in content.xml
then save the file, send it to many people

I made a quick test, and it seems that "open in non-design mode" is the DEFAULT
SETTING for new documents. So it seems that step 2 IS NOT NECESSARY, unless the
designer EXPLICITLY SET "open in design mode" at some point in the past. My POV
is that if the designer has EXPLICITLY SET the form:apply-design-mode="true"
attribute, that should be respected, even if in settings.xml, LoadReadOnly is
true.

"Taskbar" is a MS Windows only structure--it is not cross platform so a
non-starter.

Currently cross platform we support the main menu -> Windows list of links to
all active documents of the current soffice.bin session.

We've talked about doing a tabbed UI and that is open as bug 37134 and bug
33173

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 107839] BeforeUpdating and AfterUpdating events are not firing when records are edited in a Table Control

2017-12-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=107839

WORKAROUND: To detect record edits use `After Record Action` in the form's
underlying record. This workaround comes from Jim K. here:

https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/139867/base-any-workarounds-for-tables-broken-afterupdating-beforeupdating-events/

`After Record Action` fires when any record addition, deletion, or update is
made.

`After Record Change`, fires when any record *motion* occurs, i.e. moving from
one record to another.

NOTE: This does not answer the original question here as to why or what the
`After Updating` event does, or does not do.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 114266] New: HANG if copy / paste very big number of cells with conditional formatting

2017-12-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=114266

Bug ID: 114266
Summary: HANG if copy / paste very big number of cells with
conditional formatting
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.4.2.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: high
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: libreoff...@bielefeldundbuss.de

Steps how to reproduce with Version: 6.0.0.0.alpha1+ (x64)
Build ID: a5af0fd9f27af42cf2e8571f659cdad6e606215b CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows
6.1; UI render: default;
TinderBox: Win-x86_64@42, Branch:master, Time: 2017-11-07_00:30:02
Locale: de-DE (de_DE); Calc: CL:

1. Open attached "sample_001.ods"
2. Click A1
3. for copy
4. Click Column Heading "B"
5. for paste
Expected: after few seconds paste is done, can continue editing
Actual: hangs for a long time, with maximum CPU loac :-(
I had to terminate LibO after 15 minutes or so

a) All my tests seem to show that the problem is related to
conditional formatting, other cells without c.f. do not show this problem
b) Already REPRODUCIBLE with Version: 5.4.2.2
   Build-ID: 22b09f6418e8c2d508a9eaf86b2399209b0990f4 CPU-Threads: 4;
   Betriebssystem:Windows 6.1; UI-Render: Standard;

That will be resolved in bug 114261.

So the main issue is that the button is supposed to be displaying the icon and
the text and it only displaying the text (bug 114262), so if we only want to
show the text, that can be easily fixed, or we can wait for these two bugs to
be fixed.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 113387] not installing with gpo

2017-12-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=113387

I've tried to create a new organization unit without any GPO and created a new
GPO with only installing LibreOffice 5.4 (5.3 had the same result).
Forced GPupdate but after restarting the computer nothing is installed. No
error in the event log, no output at all. If I start it with commandline from
the same place it installs correctly.
