** Please read this message in its entirety before responding **

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,

however there is still some freezing if your windows default printer is set to

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 114507] New: LibreOffice_5.4.3.2 only starts as root

2017-12-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=114507

Bug ID: 114507
Summary: LibreOffice_5.4.3.2 only starts as root
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.4.3.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Base
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: manuel.gwo...@gmail.com

Description:
I downloaded LibreOffice_5.4.3_Linux_x86-64_rpm.tar.gz and tried to run
LibreOffice. However, it only start as root. When starting those applications
as a user, libreoffice hangs after the splash screen, before any window opens.
No messages are displayed in the console.

I tried removing ~/.config/libreoffice and I also tried "chmod -R 777
~/.config/libreoffice", but it did not help.

The only valid work around I found was copying the /root/.config/libreoffice
folder to my user's home and making the user the owner of that folder.
Afterwards, libreoffice started successfully.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Try to start LibreOffice:
$ /opt/libreoffice5.4/program/soffice

Actual Results:
LibreOffice never starts.

Expected Results:
LibreOffice should start.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Additional Info:
LibreOffice starts fine as root.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 98058] XML property to disable the icon in the menu bar entry

2017-12-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98058

So I looked at the code of the menu:style attribute, and menu:style="image" was
already forcing the icon to show (regardless of the show icons in menus
setting). So likewise I implemented menu:style="text", to force hiding the
icon. In addition, I made menu:style survive customization, similar to bug
114261.

loads fine and has no issues. Only the files I created when my network printer

I wanted to add that this freezing can happen with an opened document that I'm
editing, when I do certain tasks like highlight data and Ctrl-Rightclick-Format
cells. Sometimes (not always) that action can freeze for 30 seconds before the
Format cells dialog comes up. Again this won't happen if my network printer is
ONLINE only when it is OFFLINE.

szz, I tried your trick but it did not work for me. (Although I do see mentions
of an offline printer in many of my .ods files)

Each top level menu bar item's menu have multiple nested submenus in them, but
yes even with these multiple nested submenus a menu can become to large for a
768 vertical resolution, resulting in a user having to scroll the open menu to
reach the bottom items.

Didnt follow what this meant. Can you provide a screenshot.

Wasnt able to reproduce this on my 768 vertical resolution windows 8.1 laptop.

> Expected Results:
> The drop down should not be stretched vertically on top of the toolbar.

Dont understand what this means. Do you mean that the expanded menu shouldnt
cover the toolbars?

(In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #3)
> We state in our guideline [1] that WXGA 1280x768px is the minimum required

Yes with 5.4, you had to scroll the last 3 items in the Insert menu, but that
was solved in 6.0 with the creation of the new Form top level menu, but then
the Signature Line entry was added to the Insert menu this last week which has
resulted in the same scroll appearing again.

The insert menu in writer will always be faced with this problem, especially as
more insert functions get added and i dont see any means to group these
unrelated insert functions into a single submenu, unless it called 'More
Functions' or something like that.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 114484] Make internal file and print dialogs obsolete

2017-12-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=114484

Don't see a difference when I check the internal print dialog option or not
(using "gen" VCL). Bad usability, btw, to completely hide options - both
internal dialogs are hidden depending on the setup.

Haven't counted the tickets at bug 103309 but there are a lot. At least for the
internal file dialog I don't see progress to make them work. And for what
reason? So my take is, after all Rene's concerns and since headless and gen use
the internal file dialogs, that we strip down any additional functionality and
dont even try to make them competitive with the system picker. Only the most
important stuff should be kept.

On MacOs with master sources updated today, I could reproduce this.

Alex: since SfxVoidItem::Clone, SfxBoolItem::Clone or similar may be called
from different locations and since the mem management of ItemPool seems
complicated (if I well understood
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=112395#c5) I suppose we'll
encounter a bunch of memleaks because of itempools

Enabling the system print dialog is currently an experimental feature, as it
lacks some features [1], and it isn't available anywhere outside gtk2/gtk3. So
removing it isn't an option.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 77346] FORMATTING: Calc becomes slow after selecting cells and activating font chooser with previews enabled (summary: comment 29)

2017-12-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=77346

Hello,

I tested this again with:

- Calc 5.4.3.2 on Debian 9.3 (stretch)
- Calc 5.3.7.2 on Windows 10

and following the instructions in comment #23.

The behaviour does seem to have changed since I originally reported the bug. I
no longer experience a lag of several seconds. However, Calc does still become
noticeably less responsive after Select All (Ctrl-A) and changing the font.

It's easy to see if you use the arrow keys to move around: immediately after
opening the document, arrow key navigation is quite responsive; but after
changing the font on the entire document, there is noticeable lag in redrawing
the row/column indicators.

Even though it's much better than it used to be, as the steps to reproduce
still result in a visible change in UI performance, I'm leaving the status as
open for now.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 114501] New: Copy pasting from OpenOffice/ LibreOffice to Thunderbird ruins formatting

2017-12-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=114501

Bug ID: 114501
Summary: Copy pasting from OpenOffice/LibreOffice to
Thunderbird ruins formatting
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.4.2 release
  Hardware: x86 (IA32)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: tbreport...@protonmail.com

Description:
Copy pasting from OpenOffice/LibreOffice with default formatting, to
Thunderbird Mail Composer will ruin the formatting in the Thunderbird Mail
Composer. This happens even if the user has unchecked the option "Use Paragraph
format instead of Body Text by default" from Thunderird.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Write text in OpenOffice or Libreoffice with default formatting (line
spacing is 1). Select this text and press CTRL+C.
2. Open Thunderbird and go to Preferences -> Composition. From here uncheck the
box "Use Paragraph format instead of Body Text by default". Press close.
3. Open Thunderbird and press the Write button to open a new window to write an
email.
4. Paste the text you copied from OpenOffice/Libreoffice to this "Write window"
of Thunderbird.

Actual Results:
The formatting of the pasted text is now ruined, because it is paragraph
formatted (it should not be). Also if I select all of the text, and change from
"Paragraph" to "Body Text", it does not change the formatting the way it should
be.

Expected Results:
By pasting text from OpenOffice/LibreOffice to Thunderbird, the formatting
should stay the same, just like it was in the original OpenOffice/LibreOffice
file. (And not change into paragraph formatting.)

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 114484] Make internal file and print dialogs obsolete

2017-12-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=114484

Hmm. I am bit torn about this issue

I agree that these dialogs should be ideally not used. Normal desktop
integration will use system file dialogs. But what about print? Do we use the
KDE print dialog?

Anyways, Heiko tells me on IRC that the plan is also to remove the internal
code for these. There os where problems begin:

There is cases where you don't have the needed stuff:
 - nothing for kde5
 - file pickers disabled for kde4 at runtime with non-patched Qt4
 - gtk2 and gtk3 can both be disabled. Also can be in own packages.

So you might not have *any* of those. What are you then going to use?
Of course, one could inflict a gtk3 dependency here, but is it worth it? And
will
LO then have a hard gtk3 dependency when people use a (prospective) gtk4
VCLPlug?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 114500] New: MailMerge does not put database data into labels

2017-12-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=114500

Bug ID: 114500
Summary: MailMerge does not put database data into labels
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.4.3.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: judith.mary.r...@gmail.com

I have created a spreadsheet with my address data for my labels. I created a
registered database based on this spreadsheet. I did File->New->Labels using
Avery A$ type of L7165 and setup a label using the database's table fields. I
then did View->Sources and saw the address data above the sheet of labels.
However, when I did Tools->MailMerge, on the 4th screen it greyed out next
preventing me to go to the 5th and 6th screens and therefore the labels page
was not populated with the address data. I'm using LO 5.4.3.2 under Ubuntu
16.04. This worked OK a year ago under a previous version of LO also under
Ubuntu 16.04. Is there a workaround?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 113780] Password-protected PDF which should allow opening still prompts for password

2017-12-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Issue here remains, we seem to be mishandling the /P document security.

As for bug 103807 if we choose to not implement the arbitrary privacy settings
of later PDF specs--we should not limit ability to read a PDF if password is
not otherwise required to read it.

So even if we retain our handling per 103807, something in our handling of
password protected PDF does need a tweak.
