If you read comment 0 again, you will find that the user created a white font
on a black background, not "white on white" as you claim.

Also, as pointed out in comment 2, the assumption that the color of paper is
white may be wrong. On some printers that can feature a page watermark on the
background, you clearly see where writer keeps the "transparent page
background" (where the watermark "shined through" and where it fills the area
with white (Where "paper without watermark shined through").

Also pointed out in the same comment, there was a proposal for assuming a
transparent background (unless the page fill color is explicitly set), and
reflecting that in the background of the style preview.

2018-03-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=115465

Not fixed by LO 6.0.2

I agree with Matthia's 5-Feb steps, but will go further: it is worse because of
two additional problems

(a) almost any editing step will destroy the desired formatting of an existing
table, including documents created in LO 5.x or earlier which were perfectly
all right then.

and

(b) There is no way to edit the table style to match the paragraph style and
thus work around the problem. The only workaround I've found so far is
deleting the table style entirely.

I don't think it is too strong to say that the new Table Styles are botched.

Hi Jim,

> I have thought of two ways this can be accomplished and have had some
> success with both:
Thanks for iterating on this! I'm not familiar with the inner working of
autoformat styles... is it possible to know what formatting comes from direct
formatting, and what comes from autoformat style in an existing
cell/row/column?

> What is the best way to do the revert? I will do a revert patch if needed.
I'd suggest reverting the mentioned commits in branch libreoffice-6-0, so they
don't cause regressions.
In master they can be kept, except maybe if they clash with the eventual fix,
then reverting them there would make the actual fixing commit cleaner (just my
two cents).

BTW this looks similar to bug 114509 but I couldn't determine whether it was
the same issue. That issue mentions a fairly large input, in my case the input
is trivially small.

Also if the input is sorted and the last argument passed to VLOOKUP is 1 (or
it's omitted), the issue happens anyways. I upgraded to LibreOffice 6 to try
to avoid this bug but I'm pretty certain I was running into it on whatever 5.x
I was on before (a fairly recent one).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116192] New: Calc busy loop when using VLOOKUP

2018-03-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116192

Bug ID: 116192
Summary: Calc busy loop when using VLOOKUP
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.0.1.1 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Mac OS X (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: tsuna...@gmail.com

Description:
Simple uses of VLOOKUP can make Calc busy loop forever

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a new spreadsheet
2. On Sheet1, insert the following 3 rows 2 columns:
colA colB
foo 1
bar 2

3. Add Sheet2 and insert the following 2 columns 2 rows:
colA colB
foo

in cell B2 on Sheet2 (under "colB") enter the following formula:
=VLOOKUP(A2, Sheet1.A:B, 2, 0)

Actual Results:
Upon hitting enter Calc will start to busy loop and peg the CPU at 100%.

Expected Results:
The formula in cell B2 should evaluate to "1".

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Sometimes the formula manages to get evaluated before Calc starts to busy loop.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 81658] Include Tables among Cross-references (Field)

2018-03-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81658

Kumāra changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 Status|RESOLVED|REOPENED

I'm reopening this. I now agree with Ulrich Windl (in Comment 9) that "It seems
the fix isn't complicated, but would help usability a lot."

The 2 suggested workarounds are not really workable:

1. Create a caption and reference it instead.
a. The user may not want to have a caption. (That's true for me.)
b. Clicking on the link leads to the caption, not the table. OK if the caption
is above the table, but not OK if its below (esp a long table).
c. Even if the above issues are relevant to certain users, the steps are
unnecessarily tedious.

2. Drag and drop a table object from the Navigator into the document.
a. This creates a link with a line, which may be undesirable.
b. The user can't insert the page number and other elements available for
cross-references.

Since LO can cross-reference footnotes, why not tables?

So again, I'd like to request this enhancement: Include Tables among
Cross-references, which "isn't complicated, but would help usability a lot."

For the benefit of others seeking the same, my current workaround is to place a
bookmark on the first row of the table, and cross-reference that. That's the
only way I know to make the result elegant, but it's a bit tedious. A fix is
still much preferred, and will be much appreciated.

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116191] New: Table loses formatting when it is edited

2018-03-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116191

Bug ID: 116191
Summary: Table loses formatting when it is edited
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.0.1.1 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: marcus.knapp...@gmx.de

Description:
Condition: A table is given in a Writer document and the text is formatted.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a table with text
2. Format the text (see above)
3. Edit the text (bold or italic or it has a font colour).

Actual Results:

When a new row or colum is added, the text looses its formatting. "Highlight
colour" is unaffected though.

Expected Results:
Adding or deleting colums or rows should not change the formatting.

Reproducible: Always

Haven't tested with 5.4 or 5.3 as I've installed them on my Linux machine.

Karsten can you try a 6.0 [1] or 6.1 version of LibreOffice?

Thank you, Fredrik. It was a little tricky as I don't understand your GUI

It only occurs if you use the Insert Index Entry command [1], not if you have

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116132] When I open a legacy Database file it opens as Writer and never as Database

2018-03-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116132

After your latest message I decided to return to my backed-up copies of my old
database document and see what happened.

I back up my files on a daily basis, but the back-ups made over the last week
all did not work.

I moved backward in time until I found a back-up copy that would open correctly
as database, and made a note of the date.

All the back-up copies made until the end of January, BEFORE I upgraded
LibreOffice to 6.0.1 on Mac 10.13.1 opened correctly as database documents.
(*.odb) . But the first few back-ups made in February, also BEFORE the upgrade,
didn't open.

All the back-up copies made AFTER I upgraded LibreOffice to 6.0.1 on Mac
10.13.1 did not open except as word-processing documents. (*.odt)

The file is now restored and working correctly as a database (I have opened and
closed it several times with no problem, and it works as it should, as a *.odb
database).

But I'm not quite sure why this is. I don't know if there was something that
happened at the beginning of February that caused the document to be corrupted
and no longer open as a database, or if this is a problem created by upgrading
to 6.0.1 that affected some of the back-ups. As far as I can think the database
worked just fine during all of February until I first encountered this issue
two days ago. There were no crashes or unexpected quitting by the program.

Have you had other cases where database files suddenly stop working this way
after an upgrade?

Thank you for all your help on this subject.

You are right for an existing chart. To add something you have to deselect the
field, add a semicolon at the end of the line, and then select the next part.

Finish selection not on mouse up but with click on the expand/shrink button
might work better.

There is no color gradient in the bg. It is a tiled bitmap fully black.

Please refer to the correct test document and set back to UNCONFIRMED.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 115966] Bullet styles corrupted - FORMATTING

2018-03-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=115966

--- Comment #5 from michael.s.den...@gmail.com ---
This problem has also happened to me; on my resume and cover letters, I have
had bulleted lists converted into different characters, hollow squares that I
believe mean that the character is not found.

As best I can tell, the default bullet used is from the Symbol font, rather
than the unicode bullet character for the font that the user is typing in. This
results in the characters appearing fine to the user in LibreOffice, but when
opened as a .docx file elsewhere-- Microsoft Office or Google Docs-- the
bullets are not found properly, and replaced with a hollow square.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116190] New: Bulleted lists fail to display properly when converted to .docx format FORMATTING

2018-03-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116190

Bug ID: 116190
Summary: Bulleted lists fail to display properly when converted
to .docx format FORMATTING
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.0.1.1 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: michael.s.den...@gmail.com

Description:
A bulleted list in LibreOffice will not display properly in a .docx format. The
bullets are replaced by squares. I believe this is because the default symbol
used as a bullet is a character from the Symbol font, rather than the unicode
character for bullet in whatever font the user is currently typing in. This
should be changed to ensure proper compatibility, especially considering that
.docx, whether you like it or not, is the standard file format for virtually
all business.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a bulleted list using the default settings.
2. Save document as a .docx file.
3. View document in another processor-- Microsoft Office or Google Docs.

Actual Results:
The bullets are replaced with hollow squares.

Expected Results:
The bullets should be bullets.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
This also happens when opening and editing an existing docx file not created in
LibreOffice, and then saving it again.

Actually I uninstall the 5.4.5 version and installed the 6.0 latest one. Now
the problem is resolved. Everything is back to normal.

I can not reproduce the bug anymore. If it was an issue with OpenGL, I think
the same problem would occur to the 6.0 version as well but it didn't.

Thanks for your attention Julien and Xisco.

Ok, I confirm when pasted as Drawing to a new Draw document. I wonder if it's

I agree, that this is not what I would expect, if I click "more"

If you choose "Set Language for Paragraph" => "more" you also open the

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 53300] Chart: Impossible to choose non-contiguous range when, editing data range with use of the Expand button

> In the simple case, where the x-values are in the left most column and
> several y- data series are in not adjacent columns but in the same rows as
> the x-values, the selection with Ctrl-key works in range chooser.

Sorry but it doesn't: pressing Ctrl key doesn't stop the behavior described.
Instead after selecting one cell and release the mouse click, the selection
dialog is closed.
One must then:
1) press the selection dialog button again
2) unselect the previous data range in order to avoid overwrite
3) press Ctrl key to select the new cell and select. Alternatively, one could
also insert a comma after the selection range and then select the nre cell
4) repeat the procedure for as many cells should be selected.

The idea is behind this is allow the user to select as many ranges as desired
and come back the data series dialog only after pressing the corresponding
button instead of after the release of the mouse click.

Otherwise... Why is the button that finish the selection in the data series
selection dialog?

As per backtrace in attachment 140306, this is rather unrelated to the issue
fixed in bug 114881, and instead triggers one of the two calls to std::abort()

The modified date is also wrong for non-ODF files like archives, PDF files or
MS-Windows executables. Perhaps because my home is encrypted, but that is not a
good reason to return false data.

Even in Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (which is a rather current distribution) only gtk 3.18

  Reporter: danielsan8...@gmail.com

Description:
When putting in full screen mode any application of LO, the top bar of the
windows disappear leaving a black line. The real problem is when I have
finished to work with the application and close it. Once the application is
closed, the screen remains black and I have to manually do exposé to visualise
all the screen that I am using (meaning all the app open in full screen, thus
for each app in full screen, there is one screen assigned to it), and manually
closing. No GL or CL are activated (also because on my mbp if I activate OpenGL
crashes continuously). the problem doesn't occur if, before I close the
application, I resize the window and then I close it. I am using a MacBook Pro
early 2015 with Intel Iris 6100 and Mac High Sierra 10.13.3

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open any LO app
2. Put in full screen and start working
3. Close the app

Actual Results:
Black screen that needs to be closed manually

Expected Results:
the software should only close the app and free the screen that has been
occupied before.

I suggest a "want fix". The range chooser is exactly for the purpose of having
simple structured source date. Advanced cases can be solved in the data series
tab/dialog.

In the simple case, where the x-values are in the left most column and several
y- data series are in not adjacent columns but in the same rows as the
x-values, the selection with Ctrl-key works in range chooser.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116185] New: LibreOffice does not start, icons too large

2018-03-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116185

Bug ID: 116185
Summary: LibreOffice does not start, icons too large
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.6.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: t...@waldmann-edv.de

Description:
Having same or similar "icons too large" issue as there, libreoffice does not
start:

https://askubuntu.com/questions/753020/loo-dont-start-gdk-warning-gdk-window-set-icon-list-icons-too-large

This started 2018-01 after a ubuntu trusty 14.04 -> xenial 16.04 upgrade.

Before, LO worked, afterwards "icons too large", does not start any more.

Interestingly, that strange hint from that URL worked:

vi ~/.config/libreoffice/4/user/extensions/bundled/lastsynchronized
and replace the 1 inside by a 0 (zero).

So, "problem fixed", I thought.

Now, 2018-02 (still xenial with current updates), LO suddenly stopped working
again and only says "icons too large" when invoked from a terminal but does
not start.

It gets even more strange now:

I checked the file and the 0 (that fixed the issue last time) is still
in there. So I just thought "what happens if I change it back to 1?", did
that and it worked. Changed it back to 0, still works.

One month later: it stopped working again. WTF?

So, could somebody please look into what's happening there, it is very
annoying if stuff just suddenly stops working for no apparent reason.

I'ld like to get it working there without having to apply voodoo-like spells
from remote.

I've never seen that strange effect on any other Linux machine.

Note: before I found that strange lastsynchronized stuff, I also tried killing
.config/libreoffice completely, that did not help.

Version that worked in the past:
trusty (14.04LTS) 4.2.8-0ubuntu5.3 [security]: amd64 i386

Problematic version:
xenial (16.04LTS) 5.1.6~rc2-0ubuntu1~xenial3 [security]: amd64 i386

Steps to Reproduce:
see above.

Actual Results:
It is impossible to use LO, it does not start.

Expected Results:
Normal startup of LO.

Reproducible: Sometimes

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
The hardware is relatively old AMD Athlon X2 or so with AMD/ATI graphics.

I currently don't know whether OpenGL is enabled, it is not my machine and I
don't have easy access to it.

Having a new typ of sheets for charts is covered by bug 108913. So let us keep
this for the UI option to generate the chart on a new sheet. That would combine
the currently three operations "generate chart", "create new sheet" and "move
chart to new sheet".
