[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116463] tools > customize causes crash recovery dialogue

2018-03-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116463

This bug not present in 6.0.4.0, although the tools > customize dialogue
doesn't seem to "stick" for several tries in trying to modify a setting
(swapping delete left with delete right for clearing a cell in calc.) Haven't
checked if there's a new build of 6.1.0.0.alpha0 (or whatever it would be
called) But at least I could get it to work.

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116576] UI, HELP: Wrong description of Function PHI: distribution function instead of density function

2018-03-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116576

Mike Kaganski changed:

Confirming.

According to OASIS OpenDocument Version 1.2,

> PHI(N) is a synonym for NORMDIST(N,0,1,FALSE()).

> NORMDIST ... returns the value of the probability density function or the
> cumulative distribution function ...
>
> Syntax: NORMDIST( Number x ; Number Mean ; Number StandardDeviation [ ;
> Logical Cumulative = TRUE() ] )

When the Cumulative is FALSE() - as in PHI(N), - it returns the PDF; when
TRUE(), it returns its integral (=CDF) - see
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cumulative_distribution_function.

Gilward Kukel, thank you for the report; and you are welcome to submit a patch
to correct this issue. This could be done online (in web UI) after you created
an account at https://gerrit.libreoffice.org, and submitted a license statement
according to
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development/Developers#License_Statements.
This way, you can continue making corrections in the future as soon as you find
an issue in documentation, have the corrections done immediately, and further
contribute to benefit of all LibreOffice users.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116577] New: Provide Space opportunity algorithm for CJK text layout.

2018-03-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116577

Summary: Provide Space opportunity algorithm for CJK text
layout.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.1.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: shanshandehongx...@outlook.com

Description:
Seen from attachment 137942 and attachment 137944 I found the spacing between
CJK and western text looks narrow than text inserted space between CJK and
western text. I.e. our spacing algorithm between CJK and western text not looks
consistent with wenstern text font, so I suggest a new algorithm for finding
Space insertion opportunities between CJK and western text. This algorithm
works as follows:
1. Get width of space (U+0020) from western text font
2. Finding Space insertion opportunities
3. Insert it as a gap between CJK and western text, but not treat as individual
character.

Hi Stan

If you append the online page URL with =1 and reload the page, a black
box in the bottom of the page will show a link to opengrok for the help page.

Admittedly, a hidden feature. For example:

https://help.libreoffice.org/6.1/pt-BR/text/shared/main0108.html?=1

What about a link with mailto:// protocol, such as

mailto:bug...@libreoffice.org?subject='Comments on help page
{$filename}'='The page {$filename} show the following issues:'">

It will send a mail from the user computer to an alias or list where a team of
revisers can act.

It does not invalidate your suggestion for a form, but it will be faster to
implement...

Well, we have 22 icon sets, which means that we would duplicate the icon sets
to 44. Does this really make sense?

I also wouldn't say that the idea in comment 11 is an "awkward control". I
suggest to have the >= as a button. If you click on it, it changes to < (and
automatically changes the signs below to make it consistent):
 __
| | | |
|  >= |  --> |  <  |
|_| |_|

That's straight forward, isn't it?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116142] Remove Quickstarter from Windows builds

2018-03-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116142

V Stuart Foote changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 CC||michael.me...@collabora.com

Hate to flog a downed horse but having some issues over the WONTFIX call...

OOo Quickstart provided function of MS Office "Office Startup Assistant" which
Microsoft abandoned and replaced for Office 2010 with the "Backstage"
panel--that came in with the Ribbon--coupled with use of the Windows 7 DE Start
Menu/Taskbar "JumpList" shell mechanisms.

So the rational for removing the Quickstart from LibreOffice Windows builds is
that as a GUI interface on Windows it is non-compliant with the OS DE shell
norms. It serves no useful purpose that the OS does not already provide from
Windows 7 onward with JumpList shell mechanisms--that Jesús C. explicitly added
support for (see bug 35785) back in 2013.

Aside from the superfluous GUI menu of launchers in the Windows system tray,
the only thing Quickstart "adds" is a continually running an instance of
soffice.bin. No question that that running instance avoids some start up
overhead--e.g. delay of an AntiVirus scan on initial LibreOffice launch, so
leaving it running can improve response. But on modern desktop/laptop hardware
it really is not necessary.

And, normal Windows OS DE provides "Startup" (shell:startup) program launch
methods provide the "always running" support for any application if desired and
LibreOffice does not need to provide (or maintain) one of our own.

We could simply modify the installer/Tools -> Options "Load LibreOffice during
system start-up" to drop a launcher there. We don't need all the overhead of
Quickstart!

And unfortunately it is that "always running" facet of the Quickstart
soffice.bin/.exe that continues to cause problems that disrupt QA efforts:
affecting issues in file recovery, program updates, and GPU rendering issues.

I'd like to see the obsolete GUI menu removed from Windows, as done for Linux
builds (never implemented for OS X), and then some dev effort on refinement of
the Windows shell Start Menu/Taskbar JumpList implementation.

All this meaning nothing in the Quickstart feature is necessary--and it can go,
and should have gone back in 2013 when it last made the rounds on the dev list.

Stuart

Marina was telling me that large numbers of her users use the Quick-Starter on

TDF builds more effectively if that makes people feel happier =) but - I'm
curious as to how buggy it makes other things - is it just this tracker issue ?

Thanks !

FYI, I did figure out how to create a field in a view that is just a constant
character string. (It was trivial, ultimately.) So that is indeed a relatively
easy workaround for the problem. (All the unused labels at the end of the last
page now come out blank.) I changed the importance from "enhancement" to
"trivial". I believe that whenever a program does not work the way a
reasonable person expects it should, that's a bug, minor though it may be. Why
it's not been reported before I don't know, of course, but perhaps the label
feature isn't used very much.

The recommendation of the design team to remove the weird function was accepted
in the ESC today. This should solve the actual problem, though it's not a call
for hunting easter eggs. If similar issues with hard-coded key combinations
become a problem we have to decide how to proceed. Adjusted the summary
accordingly from the original "Indicate context-specific reserved keyboard
shortcuts in the customize dialog".

Destructive coding is per se easyhacking. Shouldn't be too hard to find the
respective code pointers.

Unfortunately, I could not reproduce all of the problems I had probably because
the background PNG I made up are quite small files (about 700 bytes) instead of
the complicated background images I used when I discovered the problem (about
6 bytes each)

You're correct. It does work correctly in safe mode. It's strange, though,
because I have the same behavior on two separate computers, one an ASUS, the
other a Toshiba, both running Windows 10. The only additions I made to the
default configuration was a Portuguese spell dictionary and Portuguese
interface (though I use English most of the time), plus I removed the French
and Spanish dictionaries/interfaces and turned off auto update and fast start.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116569] New: VIEWING Not enough place for the Bulgarian translation in the Query editor and troubles with it

2018-03-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116569

Bug ID: 116569
Summary: VIEWING Not enough place for the Bulgarian translation
in the Query editor and troubles with it
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.4.0.3 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Base
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: k...@mail.orbitel.bg

Description:
The wording of Bulgarian translation is longer than the English words to be
translated. This is the case in most non English European languages.
But the graphical interface is created for the English words only in mind.
So after translations in many places in LibreOffice the place for the
translations get not enough.
Same happens here and does troubles

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Use the Bulgarian translation of LibreOffice Base
2.Open the query tool to create a query.
3.You see how the translated text in entering in the place for the elements of
the query

Actual Results:
If you slide left and right the bottom slider you will get artefacts and also
the part from the Bulgarian translation are making creation of queries very
annoying.

Expected Results:
When create the forms to make enough place for the other language translation
and do not measure it only from the English wording.
Then these problems will disappear.

Reproducible: Always

2018-03-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 116567
Summary: VIEWING: After apply of some needed formatting on a
calculated field in a query it get lost after closing
the query
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.4.6.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Base
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: k...@mail.orbitel.bg

Description:
Misleading presentation of small decimal in the calculated field in Queries.
Not possible to get the needed results after apply the needed representation of
number precision of the needed field, closing and opening again the same Query.
I could not find any useful information how I can achieve to get the applied
numbers precision when start same query again.
So I believe this is a nasty bug as shows to users misleading numbers. They can
believe the number is zero but it will be very small decimal

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Create a Query where you calculate one field and result will be a very small
decimall
2.When start the qyery instead to see 0.00456879 only 0.1 or 0 is visible
3.If I try to change the column formatting to show the needed precision it get
shown as expected but until I close the Query.

Actual Results:

If I start same query again it again shows the numbers as 0 or 0.1 instead of
some thing like 0.0123456

Expected Results:
After appying the needed formatting on the field I expect always if I start the
same qyery to see the result with the applied format - same way as it works for
fields in tables.

Reproducible: Always

People used the memory options, yet we removed them. We know placebo works.

Now ESC made the decision to keep Quickstarter:
https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/libreoffice/2018-March/079832.html

I am disappointed with this weird pendulum decisionmaking, where we keep some
useless fluff that causes maintenance burden.

So, I will close this and revert my edit in the release notes and comment on
some reports that Quickstarter will not be removed after all even though I
claimed it would be.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116566] New: UI: Option AutoSpellCheck colour should apply to spelling dialog too

2018-03-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116566

Bug ID: 116566
Summary: UI: Option AutoSpellCheck colour should apply to
spelling dialog too
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: Inherited From OOo
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: gerhard.we...@t-online.de

By Tools -> Options -> LibreOffice -> Application Colours you can choose a
colour for AutoSpellCheck. This applies to the wavy line below the word with
the incorrect spelling, but not to the character colour of the same word in the
spelling dialog opened via Tools -> Spelling...
For people with visual impairment who choose a dark document background an
bright colours for text this is a problem. The character colour in the dialog
should therefore be changed to the same colour as the wavy line.
Remark: bugs #95684 and #105527 have a connected issue, but do not deal with
the same problem, they are rather more general.

2018-03-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 116565
Summary: Unable to open file with Ctrl-O shortcut at initial
screen
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.0.0.5 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: jondotandr...@fastmail.fm

Description:
It used to be possible to open an existing file at the opening screen with the
shortcut, Ctrl-O. This can still be done anywhere in the program, including the
screen which appears after closing all of the currently open LO files). When
first opening the program, however, the only way to open a file is with the
mouse.

I'm not sure at what version this began to happen.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Libreoffice
2. Press Ctrl-O to open a file
3.

Actual Results:
Nothing happens

Expected Results:
A dialog box should open allowing one to browse to the desired file

Reproducible: Always
