2018-03-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116665

Just tried to pin a writer doc to the task bar icon. Only place it manifests is
on the Classic CALC tab. Something is happening, just not the right thing.
Would it be worth uninstalling v.6 and reinstalling? In that manner it won't be
reinstalling over v.5 and might make a difference.

Jump and recent documents for everything on the task bar e3xcept Libre Office
function as expected. Classic start and Start also function according to plan
for everything except Libre Office. If I right click the LO Generic Classic and
Start tabs it shows nothing but launch and pin. If I right click the Classic
and Start Calc tab it shows only the recently launched items.
Perhaps its an install over v.5 issue.

2018-03-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Summary: Manage Names Dialog does not repaint after resize
   Product: LibreOffice

  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

Description:
When the Manage Names dialog is first opened and the frame grabbed at the
bottom to make the list area larger, the list items are not repainted. This
happens only for the "Range or formula expression" column. When the dialog was
first opened, there were 11 items visible in the list. Those same 11 items are
still visible, but no new items are painted after the 11th. Grabbing the
vertical scroll bar causes the items to be repainted.

This happens on Windows and Linux.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Click Manage Names.
2. Grab the bottom right corner of the frame and drag to make larger.
3. The items in the Range or Formula expression column are not repainted. When
the dialog was first open, there were 11 items visible in the list. Those same

Have Classic Shell 4.3.1 Classic Start installed.

Pinned launchers show Jump Lists on Start Menu, and Classic Start menu; and
launchers pinned to Taskbar will show Jump List as well as to pin a drag-n-drop
of supported file types. The pinned and recent items will survive an OS "Clear
recent items list"; and a pinned item will change to a recent item when
unpinned, and that recent item can then be "removed from the list".

This is normal correct Windows 7 Jump List behavior and LibreOffice seems to
comply well.

I have experienced this problem on both linux and windows.
Libreoffice version is 6.0.2.1.

Remember the Manage Names dialog size and column widths, at least while it is
open. Currently it snaps back.

Steps:
  1. Click on Manage Names to open the dialog.
  2. Grab the bottom right corner of the frame and drag to make larger.
  3. Grab the column splitter for each column and drag to make larger.
  4. Click "Range Options" and the dialog snaps back to its' original size.
  5. Steps 2 and 3 need to be repeated.

Just noting that it happened again twice today while composing text in a simple
document (a novel) that's 98k words. (Maybe only 50 comments all together, so
far, and LO is very responsive.)

First occurrence was typing "ae" just after an auto-save had started - both
characters were lost.

Second occurrence was typing a " to be the start of a piece of dialogue (with
smart quotes enabled, if that's relevant), an instant *before* the auto-save
started. (It *looked* as if typing '"' started a save, heh.) But when the
auto-save finished, no double quote appeared in the body.

I'm currently using:

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';

And HarfBuzz of font layout system seem not to do font fallback.
As a result, some text is garbled like squares when LO doesn't use system font.

I think this is reproduced only Language Pack installed.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116664] installing 5.4.5.1 completely messed up typeface and lines in a document just created

--- Comment #10 from David Edwards <2davidedwa...@gmail.com> ---
Thanks. I shall have to do some research to understand all this erudite detail.
I think the original address, website, etc. information would have been copied
from a colleague's Word original - years ago.

5.3.3.2 is what I have installed now and 5.2.7.2 will be what I had yesterday.
Up until today's installation of 5.4.5.1 the Times Roman fonts opened as Times
Roman and everything looked as it should. I have probably been using these
documents (one as a template for the next) for about four or five years.

Hopefully if I recreate all the top part of the page (common to all the reports
I'll create) afresh in LO, things should be OK henceforth. But it would seem
there has been a step backwards in compatibility if documents with elements
imported from Word which used to display properly no longer do so.

I can confirm setting the path in environment.plist as suggested above works
for both LO and LODev (When launched from Dock and Launchpad)

However one caveat is that this method will not work for launching via
Spotlight. When launched via Spotlight no keys are found.

I think more than an issue, is defining the right parameters for the job, like
e.g. creating the appropriated pages style for any kind of sheets, defining
print ranges, etc.

In the sample file all sheets have the same style.

Not to get what is wanted, means necessarily there is a bug, but a need to
prepare the spreadsheet to get it.

Please ask the question on https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/questions/, if your
language it's not English maybe there is one on your language, or in the
mailing list http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/.

Taking a look to the documentation can help a lot,

The issue seems to be that in Writer's comments containing a link that text of
the URL is automatically added when the field for inputting text is blank. This
behavior is not present in Calc.

It would appear that the user interface is in
/core/cui/uiconfig/ui/hyperlinkdocpage.ui. That same interface is used in both
Writer and Calc.

I think that
https://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/sc/source/ui/vba/vbahyperlinks.cxx
may be the file to edit. Could someone point me in the right direction?

No, Liberation Serif is metric equivalent to Times New Roman, while Liberation
Sans is metric equivalent to Arial.

The issue looks to be in the styles applied to the ODF documents--they were
incomplete and so LibreOFfice defaults get applied.

attachment 140921 shows meta as authored with
LibreOffice/5.2.7.2$Windows_X86_64

attachment 140920 shows meta as authored with
LibreOffice/5.3.3.2$Windows_X86_64

So, suspect problem predates these builds of LibreOffice and these versions of
the file "reports".

One more sage with replacing ODF styles would need to comment (Regina?), but
believe issue is that there is no font assignment to the
"Police_20_par_20_défaut" and "Internet_20_link" styles across multiple text
spans in the content, you pick up current LO defaults.

I think we would probably need even older versions of the files to see what the
original style specified for font. Then in Writer (or other affected module)
use Tools -> Options -> LibreOffice Writer: Basic Fonts (Western) dialog to
adjust the defaults. Pick a better font (old bitmap fonts like "roman", or
PostScript Type 1 fonts if installed will not show on the list box) that
renders the reports without too much distortion.

Going forward, work up a better Style to apply to the paragraphs of the
reports.

You're right, I could've been clearer. In my defense, "rows 11-20 grouped and
collapsed" contains an ordering, and it seemed to be the only obvious way. Note
how once you hide rows 11-20, you can't group them, because you have to select
the first and last row to be grouped, and they're all hidden.

That's unfortunate, since that's the interesting part. Regardless, I'm now
reasonably sure it's the missing path for GUI applications - if you could try
setting this globally, as per
https://serverfault.com/questions/16355/how-to-set-global-path-on-os-x , to
/usr/local/MacGPG2/bin and retry (possibly after reboot) ?

If that's confirmed, I'll need to dig a bit how that's implemented for other
client code, e.g. EnigMail on OSX...

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 115325] Regression: Calc v6 opens .ODS file slower than v5

2018-03-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon

(In reply to Dan Dascalescu from comment #12)
> > IMHO, 1.6 seconds [is] an acceptable delay.

Well, the testing actually doesn't answer if this is acceptable. To answer
that, an understanding required if that's some constant added to any lengthy
open operation, or something different (like increasing proportionally, or
adding to other operations, etc), Having said that:

> That's an unrealistic way to think about the *increase* in file opening
> time. We're talking about 1.6 *EXTRA* seconds, probably on high-end
> hardware, and with no other CPU or disk-intensive tasks running in the
> background.
>
> In the real world, the user is waiting 2.8 seconds for the file to open with
> Calc v5, and 4.5 seconds to open it with v6, in the best case scenario.

Well, my testing shows different figures: 5.4 branch-off shows ~3.75s, while
6.0 shows ~4.05s. It's not some high-end system, with ordinary HDD (no ssd),
without closing multiple other applications in the background; but of course,
the figures are taken after a number of trials, elimination the first one, so
that I only measured the cached program state. So - observation #1: what you
say is not a best case scenario, and the slow-down isn't that universal.

> First off: Why? What's the gain to the user?

Of course, the answer could be given only by finding the commit (I failed
myself, when also tried to bibisect - my lookup ended with
https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=29c07c224d8b51ff9bf417eb2e3960cd0f9612fd,
which also seems to have nothing with the problem). But take it for granted,
that each commit has its beneficial goal; no commits are introduced with the
specific goal to bloat things and make everything slower. Some commits may make
things safer; other may prepare for e.g. increasing column count; yet other
could fix bugs by introducing more checks. And even if you may not see the
benefit from your PoV, it doesn't mean that there's none.

> Second: by saying "X is an acceptable performance decrease", are we simply
> allowing software to get bigger and slower over time? By the way, 1.6
> seconds slower than 2.8 seconds is a rather horrible drop in performance -
> almost 60% slower!

As I mentioned above, the measurements don't say nothing about actual slowdown
- neither in absolute figures, nor in percentage. A fixed surplus would become
negligible on larger data; or it may actually be significant. Don't try to
manipulate random figures, as if they have more meaning than they actually
bear.

> Third: there is a psychological threshold around the 3-second mark. Studies
> show that 53% of visits are likely to be abandoned if pages take longer than
> 3 seconds to load.

This has nothing to do with LibreOffice. A random site visitor behaviour
differs from behaviour of a user who opens own/important data on own system.
This is just absolutely irrelevant.

> > It's not worth it to expend time and man power to fix this issue.
>
> What causes this slowdown in v6? What features or refactoring were worth a
> 60% slowdown on opening a file? As a user, I don't see a compelling tradeoff
> to upgrade to v6 in exchange for the performance hit.
>
> Also, what other areas of Calc are affected by this slowdown?

I tried to answer this in principle. Yes, I still cannot point to specific
commit, or even point out which systems suffer; and if you will take the task
and find out that yourself (using bibisect[1] - in hope that you'll succeed) -
it would be really helpful.

or LO?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116667] FILESAVE: Export as PDF

2018-03-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116667

More precisely:

Hi,

I have a large spreadsheet of 23 sheets of which all but two contain full page
graphs ie at 200% magnification the graph stretches until column K and down to
row 25.

On a monthly basis I need to select 11 of the sheets, 10 of which hold graphs
and Export as PDF into a single PDF. The 'export' works but only on 6 pages,
whilst the others are lost in the ether. The PDF created is an Archive PDF/A,
duplicate field names are allowed and View PDF after export is selected with
lossless compression pf the selected sheets.
I have tried creating the PDF as a Hybrid PDF with the same results although no
warning about transparency.

Viewing in Adobe Reader afterwards only produces some of the sheets and does
not begin with the first sheet selected.

I am using Version: 5.4.6.2
Build ID: 4014ce260a04f1026ba855d3b8d91541c224eab8
CPU threads: 4; OS: Mac OS X 10.13.3; UI render: default;
Locale: en-ZA (en_ZA.UTF-8); Calc: group

Please advise as there are approximately 1500 people who receive the graphs and
could therefore want to try Libreoffice themselves.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116666] New: Fix Hungarian sorting

2018-03-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11

Bug ID: 11
   Summary: Fix Hungarian sorting
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: Inherited From OOo
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Localization
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: nem...@numbertext.org

Hungarian orthography rules contain the following extra requirements for
sorting words and sentences:

– expand simplified double consonants;

– ignore spaces and hyphens;

– prefer lower case homonyms.

(Source: http://helyesírás.mta.hu/helyesiras/default/akh12#F2_4)

Expansion of double consonants, (eg. sort “ccs” (long “cs”) as “cscs”) is still
not perfect, but in my analysis, it reduces the bad sorting positions by a
factor of 1/5, than ordering without explansion (3843 vs. 19425 in 4 million
word forms).

More important advantage, using full expansion it's possible to automatize
Hungarian sorting with manual (or in future, Hunspell based) preprocessing.
(Unfortunatelly, ICU collation algorithm alone is not enough for Hungarian,
yet.) Inserting soft hyphens is a quick workaround for here, too (as for the
similar problem of the single consonants, eg. “igazság” -> igazság
(igaz[U+AD]ság) sorted before “igaztalan” correctly).

I don't think it's wanted or good usability (as it's not self-explanatory and
known by users), but I thought about a menu item that is not clickable but only
for information, like non-active/greyed out items. This item would describe the
following command items. I don't know if this already exists in LO or another
program. Can't remember.

Yes, commit 1bb07b763560b7af64da27025b8f6299308b62a6 is that one (you may
always lookup the commit on the cgit, appending its hash to URL like this:
https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=1bb07b763560b7af64da27025b8f6299308b62a6)

But that commit has nothing to do with the problem. And I don't see time
difference between its performance and its parent; so must be bibisection
error.

I'm not sure I can do this. At least I couldn't find DBus -> GDBus API

Please attach .ODF document and a PDF of document with original style/fonts
assigned.

There have been substantial changes to Windows font handling 5.2 -> 5.3 -> 5.4

And legacy bitmap fonts, and PS Type 1 fonts have been dropped.

Unmanaged font substitution for invalid fonts can cause this type of visual
change as replacement fonts often will not have matching metrics and the
document composition will change.

Removed "existing" taskbar and start menu icons which may have been leftovers
from the earlier installation an it was giving me the "banned" symbol when
trying to pin a document. Pinned the latest installed version from programme
menu to start menu and task bar.
Attempting to drag and drop a document to pin it to the new task bar icon gives
the alert "pin to libre office" but it is not available when right clicking the
icon.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116664] installing 5.4.5.1 completely messed up typeface and lines in a document just created

2018-03-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116664

--- Comment #2 from David Edwards <2davidedwa...@gmail.com> ---
I have installed 5.3.3.2 and it correctly opens the address, but transforms the
telephone numbers and email websites lines into Liberation Serif, and the word
'websites' to 14 point from 12. If I change these back to Times New Roman 12
point the document displays correctly. Maybe I have to revert to an even
earlier version to get it to open without need for these modification. I think
I had 5.2.7.something before, when I did not have any of these problems.

2018-03-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=115989

I get where the request is coming from - it would be useful to have an open
source chemical structure editor for LibreOffice, but it would probably be
better to provide it as a separate extension rather than adding to LibreLogo.

As to comment 3, of course having ACD ChemSketch play nicely with LibreOffice
would be nice too, but that is purely a Windows only program.

Did a bit more digging and also ran a trace against gpgme.

I see my shell has, as part of the PATH environment, /usr/local/MacGPG2/bin.
The trace output when LO opened via CLI also confirms that its using that path
for the various binaries for GPG.

I see no output whatsoever on the trace when launched from GUI. Attached the
initial trace output as its quite large. Let me know if more output will be
needed.

installed it (on Windows 10 64 Bit), it was installed in C:\Program Files

The version is running correctly, but the address books are still missing.
Maybe it depends from the operating system and a resulting difference in
Thunderbird?
But as far as I understand Julien in comment #1, he tested it on Linux and
could reproduce my problem.

images of document as it should be from saved pdf and as 5.4.5.1 opens it.

The correct version is at the top of the image. The police was simply Times

file difficult to comprehend. It has been fine in version after version of

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116664] New: installing 5.4.5.1 completely messed up typeface and lines in a document just created

2018-03-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116664

Bug ID: 116664
Summary: installing 5.4.5.1 completely messed up typeface and
lines in a document just created
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.4.5.1 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: 2davidedwa...@gmail.com

Description:
I updated LibreOffice so as to have the best & most secure version while
working on a report using a standard form copied from document to document for
years. Before I never had any problem with it. 5.4.5.1 completely altered
typeface and messed up line returns. It radically degraded the document. I will
now uninstall and will try to revert to an older version, hoping to recover
correct functioning. Very surprised at this - as if standard typefaces lost or
not properly interpreted when it opens the document. I had already saved a pdf
of the document so there is a record of the degradation. I will try to use the
add an attachment feature to send the images of pdf and LO 5.4.5.1 versions.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.open the document
2.
3.

Actual Results:
All I did was open the file, to be horrified by what I saw.

Expected Results:
typefaces and layout altered (degraded)

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Produced a document that looked exactly as it did in the previously installed
version of Writer.

Works for me now on 6.0.2.1
Interestingly, my report version 5.4.5.1, when asked to check for updates,
claimed it was the latest version.
Is it worth reporting that as a potential bug or just assume people will move
on anyway?

expect them to be also shown/unhidden.
I don't see why or you didn't explain how sample was created.

2018-03-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116492

--- Comment #4 from Jacinto Canales de Caso ---
1) Write a text in a cell of Calc.
2) Select a word of the text.
3) Bold such word.
a) then the word appear bolded.
4) select other word 5 positions ahead.
5) Bold such word.
b) Then the second word appear bolded but the first one has left to be
bolded. We have lost the first word bolded.

And It happen if you do two formats in the same cell. When you do the second,
you lost the format of the first word formated.
