[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116827] [FILEOPEN] Support for opening same document twice as read only with command line switch

2018-04-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116827

I'm confused, and I think it's because the word "copy" is being used for two
different things.

Nick, do you want multiple *views* of the same document, or would multiple
*copies* (that is, separate files with the same content) be adequate?

Command line switch -n gives you the latter. There is no point in making them
read-only in this case, because they can't affect each other or the original.

My suspicion is that what you really want is multiple *views* (or instances) of
the same document, so that all remain in sync as you edit them. This would
require a new command line switch. Is this right?

Then, combining this another switch (current "view" or a new one with a better
name) to make the new views read-only from the start would be a separate
change. Certainly this would be the logical thing to do. But do you actually
need this? Your original comment makes it sound unnecessary.

** Please read this message in its entirety before responding **

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

I would change the status to wantfix cause
1. you can activate/deactivate the sidebar within the NB (tabbedbar -> viewtab)
2. define specific decks that will be hiden in some specific NB implementation
will confuse when you read a tutorial or you switch between different layouts
(tabbed compact on laptop and groupedbar full on desktop)

I don't see the benefit of deactivate specific sidebar decks. general NB tabbed
don't need the sidebar but NB tabbed compact can need it. I would leave it as
it is.

This is not "true" for all NB implementations. eg. for tabbed NB the sidebar
can be activated by the user (in the view tab) but is hide by default.

I would prefer to have two buttons one for activate the sidebar and one for
activate menubar. So no nead for a codework from my point of view.

Menubar should be on when you switch first time the toolbar layout.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 117240] New: WRITER menu strangely gets out-of-focus (grey) after first click into it

2018-04-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=117240

Bug ID: 117240
Summary: WRITER menu strangely gets out-of-focus (grey) after
first click into it
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.6.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: j...@cspv.hu

Description:
you start Writer, it looks okay..
you click in the menu (say, click "tools"), and the menu becomes grey... for
good

(submenu items in the menu's "dropdown" list are also too light grey, looking
sort of as if "inactive")

Steps to Reproduce:
1.start Writer
2.click in the menu

Actual Results:
the menu (font color) becomes "grey"... for good

later menu items even become white (as for font color)

Expected Results:
font color should stay black (dark) and stay like that

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Additional Info:
I installed libreoffice 6... (by adding LiO PPA)
then I uninstalled it, and got back to ditro version (5.1.6.2 / Linux Mint
18.3)
.

I did delete user folder "my-username-dir/.config/libreoffice"
and did NOT change this behavior

  Hardware: All

help pages to be corrected

Obviously there has been a changeover from F4 to Ctrl+Shift+F4 for opening the
data source view, some time in the past. This has not been reflected
consequently in all help pages (some have been changed, though, and even more
than when I checked this some months ago).
I therefore enclose a document including hardcopies of the help pages where the
old assignment hasn't been corrected.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 117231] There is no way to suppress Writer inserting blank pages to make page No. 1 a right-hand page (Formatting)

2018-04-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=117231

Click Insert->Manual Break
This brings up menu "Insert Break"
Select Type: "Page break"
Select Style: "Default Style"
Check checkbox "Change Page Number"
Set "Page number" to "1" (Default)

Seeing that the first page in the document is a right-hand page, Writer will
insert a blank page so that the new page after the page break also becomes a
right-hand page.
This is good in normal books, but there are other document types where this
assumption is incorrect. It should be possible to avoid these blank pages being
inserted.

Word has the option "Allow overlap", which is off for the text boxes. Therefore
the boxes are effectively not on the position, which its settings say.
LibreOffice does not have such options, but shapes can always overlap. So the
position has to be recalculated on import to fake the position from Word.
Currently the original position from Word is simply copied.

The report when it is run and displayed, but not saved as a separate odt file,
shows 24 pages with the last 10 of those blank except for the footer.
When the generated report is saved it changes to 14 pages with no blank pages
at the end.

hello,

It would be great to have "sessions" in Libreoffice, especially in Writer...

that is, to be able to save the working session...
and reopen it next time.. the same couple of files..

to save the list of the open files...
and save this list as "a session" under a name...
and reopen it any time in the future...

I guess I don't need to advertise this functionality, cause developers ALL uses
sessions like this :) wouldn't it be a pain if one hat to find which files to
reopen, and reopen them individually? every time you restarted your computer?
:) :) Well, Writer users probably feel the same about it, too :)
In any case, it would be huge enhancement!! :)

Bug ID: 117236
Summary: Base: Page Number in footer of report generates blank
pages.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.0.3.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Base
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: twisterddfsl83...@gmail.com

Description:
I have a report that generates 3 pages.
If I add in the footer a "Page x of xx" (ex Page 1 of 3) it will then become 6
pages long, with 3 empty pages at the end that only contain the footer.

Steps to Reproduce:
0. Have a table full of enough data that it will generate more than 1 page of
reports.
1. Create a dynamic report in base using wizard.
2. Insert -> Page number -> Page x of m -> Footer
3. Execute Report

Actual Results:
Had several pages that contained only a footer tacked on the end. The more
pages of data, the more blank pages added to the end.

Expected Results:
I expected the footer to not generate empty pages.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
I did look at the output results, and the blank pages are truly blank other
than the footer. Editing the genrated document, all it takes is to delete the
footer and suddenly the document jumps from 6 pages to 3 pages... all the blank
pages disapear.

I prefer wording that users are familiar with in other programs:

Word Document (.docx)
Word 2003 XML Document (.XML)
Word 97-2003 Document (.doc)
Strict Office Open XML Document (.docx) or Office Open XML Document (.docx) [1]

I don't see the benefit for a year in current Word OOXML file description
(regardless what exact OOXML form it is as users don't know it).

Stuarts question in comment 15 is also important for [1].

Because A2:A7 has only numeric cell contents whereas A1 contains a text string.
Effectively for pasting A2:A7 repeatedly to an entire column you end up with
one segment of numeric cell data, for A1:A7 it is alternating 149796
text|numeric segments.

Thanks V Stuart for the screenshots. Particularly the MS Word screenshot is
very illustrative. Probably the easiest solution is also the best solution to
import/export the current MS Office file formats:

"Microsoft Word (.docx)"
...

Thanks.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 117216] Notas de rodapé desconfiguram quando fecho o documento do Writer

2018-04-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=117216

Translation

Description:
When setting up footnotes in Libre Office Writer 6.0, each time I open the
document again it automatically inserts a tab. After a few times it even jumps
a line in the footnote. This happens in all footnotes entered in the text.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Insert a footnote in the editor text (Writer)
2. Note settings, indentation and spacing: indentation before text 0.56. First
Line: -0.49. Fixed spacing of 0.41 cm.
3. Close and open the document

Current Results:
The indent to the right of the note appears to have increased, but there are no
tab marks. When I close and open the document, the note is further to the
right. After a few times, you even skip a line between the note number of the
note and the beginning of the text.
That is why I always need to realign the text by placing the cursor at the
beginning of the footnote and typing the tab until it reaches the starting
point (indent of 0.56). When you type tab, it comes to change font type and
size, which seems to indicate that it holds different settings.

Expected Results:
It should maintain the initial settings, with a setback of 0.56.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 117234] New: FILTER: Typing in the autofilter box on a long list causes keyboard entry to be incorrectly entered

2018-04-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=117234

Bug ID: 117234
Summary: FILTER: Typing in the autofilter box on a long list
causes keyboard entry to be incorrectly entered
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.0.3.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: davidjmcgo...@outlook.com

Description:
When using autofilter against a large (ish) list (3 columns, 5000 rows, csv
format, unique id - email address - name) typing in the filter box causes a
delay, the delay causes the user input to be entered in a different order to
keys pressed.

example

actual - booking, hotmail, @guest.
result - bokingo, hotmail, @gust.e

the number of results in the list matching the search query influences the
resulting level of disorder in the input.

adding a delay in the processing of the characters as opposed to immediately
trying to sort per letter, if you wait for each letter to restrict the list,
the performance increases dramatically for each additional letter entered.

I get the same issue on ubuntu 17 as i do on fedora 21

Steps to Reproduce:
1.create a large csv approx 5000 rows
2.ensure that at least 2000 rows share a common word or phrase
3.add autofilter to the csv data
4.enter the common word or phrase into the search box, typing at normal speed
5.wait for the word to appear, words longer than 7 characters are likely to be
garbled, if not, elongate the list or use a longer word the problem will show

Actual Results:
user input is garbled

Expected Results:
user input is entered correctly

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
OpenGL (or in my case "hardware acceleration") being toggled on or off makes no
difference.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 117233] New: Editing: Numbering restarts from 1 where it should continue from previous list

2018-04-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=117233

Bug ID: 117233
Summary: Editing: Numbering restarts from 1 where it should
continue from previous list
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.0.2.1 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: mueslifl...@nexgo.de

How to produce the bug:

1. Create a set of paragraphs, e.g.:

Para
para
para
para
para
para

2. Select the first three paras and press Toggle Numbered List (F12) button:

1. Para
2. para
3. para
para
para
para

3. Select the next three paras and press Toggle Numbered List (F12) button:

1. Para
2. para
3. para
1. para
2. para
3. para

Note how numbering restarts from 1 in the fourth para, which it should not
(IMHO). It seems that the second set of paras forms a new numbered set.
Expected behavior: numbering should continue: 4. 5. 6. or else the fourth para
should have Restart numbering property set to true.

4. Position cursor in fourth para. Open Format Paragraph dialog - Outline and
Numbering tab. Note how Numbering:Restart at this paragraph is not checked
although numbering in fact restarts from 1. I.e., it is not evident for the
user why numbering restarts from 1.

5. Open context menu (right mouse button). Note how Restart numbering is not
highlighted.

6. Open context menu and select Continue previous numbering. Note how this para
gets number 4 but the following paras start with number 1. Expected behavior:
the following paras should get numbers 5 and 6.

1. Para
2. para
3. para
4. para
1. para
2. para

It seems that the fourth para has been added to the first numbered set and it
has been removed from the second numbered set.

This doesn't seem to be a big issue, but if you've got a lot of unnumbered
paragraphs in between the numbered ones, it is not easy to achieve a
consecutive numbering of the numbered paras other than manually executing
Continue previous numbering for all of them. It is not clear (to me) why there
are two sets of numbered paras and what is the reason that numbering starts
from 1 in the fourth para even though Restart Numbering is not set and all
paras are at the same level. It might be reasonable that numbering restarts at
1 in my Step 3, but then the Restart numbering property should be set.

This issue seems to be related to bugs 36220 and 75497. It is not clear what
starts a new set of numbered paras other than the Restart numbering property.

Anyhow, are the new Microsoft Word OOXML (.docx)(*.docx) and the Office Open

Bug ID: 117232
Summary: Ability to resize tables with mouse
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Keywords: needsUXEval
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org

Created attachment 141630

Screenshot from Word

Word has a neat feature that tables have a handle in the bottom right corner,
and tables can be resized by grabbing that handle with the mouse (both
vertically and horizontally). Columns are resized proportionally. It would be
great to have something similar in Writer, because the Columns tab in Table
Properties isn't user-friendly, albeit useful if the size to be set precisely.

Dear UX team, what's your take on this feature, are there additional
considerations to take into account.

A minor question, should the handle positioning depend on left/right alignment
of table on page? In Word it doesn't, but behaves according to the setting.

I think the fix needs to be identified and backported to 6.0, considering that

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 117231] New: There is no way to suppress Writer inserting blank pages to make page No. 1 a right-hand page (Formatting)

2018-04-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=117231

Bug ID: 117231
Summary: There is no way to suppress Writer inserting blank
pages to make page No. 1 a right-hand page
(Formatting)
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: holtsm...@gmx.net

Description:
When working in "book mode" (edit>view>zoom>"zoom and view layout"), libre
office writer will insert blank pages to make page No. 1 a right-hand page.
Documentation like operational manuals often have complex page numbering like
"CHAPTER.SUBCHAPTER-PAGENUMBER", where page number is reset to 1 with every new
sub-chapter (This allows for easy insertion or removal of pages during the
lifetime of the product without affecting the page numbering of the whole
document). In this type of document, having auto-inserted blank pages every 4
or 5 pages overly inflates the document. The problem can be overcome by not
using book mode, but this makes editing the document a hassle.
Adding a pre-checked check-box for "auto insert blank pages to make page No.1 a
right-hand page" would solve this issue without affecting the default behavior
of the program.

Steps to Reproduce:
1: Create new document in writer
2: Goto edit>view>zoom>"zoom and view layout
3: Select "Columns:" [2]
4: Check "book mode"
5: first page is now a right-hand page
6: Add some text
7: Insert manual break > page break / Style: default style / "Change page
number": 1

Actual Results:
A blank page is inserted, and the cursor has moved to a new right-hand page

Expected Results:
Given an option to uncheck a new check-box for "auto insert blank pages to make
page No.1 a right-hand page", no blank page would be inserted, and the cursor
would move to a new left-hand page with page numbering No. 1

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No
