[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 97993] EDITING: Copy and Paste for Images / Shapes Need to be Shifted in Writer
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=97993 --- Comment #13 from Luke --- Created attachment 143723 --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=143723=edit WPS Office, same procedure Heiko I understand how you thought that shifting on a cut/paste would confuse the end user. However, that was an error in my instructions, and not what I was asking for. This is about copy/paste. >From a UI design theory perspective, how is it better to give no feedback to the user? When working with shapes, I often make a master shape, then customize each instance. For example when making flowcharts, I will have 5 or 6 master objects that I copy dozens of times. In LO, I have to trust that my copy/pastes are working AND keep track in my head. How is this better than how other systems work? How is hiding each copy better than showing it shifted? What is the use-case are you imagining where the default behavior in Word, WPS Office, and WordPefect is inferior to Writer's current copy/paste behavior? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 118187] The text of an example of using the INDIRECT calc function is found in the wrong place, under ADDRESS.
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118187 --- Comment #7 from Howard Johnson --- Very good Mike! = Example: =ADDRESS(1;1;2;;"Sheet2") returns the following: Sheet2.A$1 If **the formula above is in cell B2 of current sheet, and** the cell A1 in sheet 2 contains the value -6, you can refer indirectly to the referenced cell using a function in B2 by entering =ABS(INDIRECT(B2)). The result is the absolute value of the cell reference specified in B2, which in this case is 6. = Only thing I think I might add is: 1) Make "Example:" plural (Examples:), (as there are really two examples, where the 2nd depends on the 1st), 2) prefix the 2nd example with "Furthermore, ..." (to help show the start of the 2nd example), 3) possibly add this note which I think I would find helpful, "(i.e. the one holding -6)", and 4) add this additional clarification below it: "i.e. B2 ==> Sheet2.A$1 ==> -6-- where 'a ==> b' means a contains b" like this: = Example**s**: =ADDRESS(1;1;2;;"Sheet2") returns the following: Sheet2.A$1 **Furthermore, if the formula above is in cell B2 of current sheet, and if** the cell A1 in sheet 2 contains the value -6, you can refer indirectly to the referenced cell **(i.e. the one holding -6)** using a function in B2 by entering =ABS(INDIRECT(B2)). [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 118187] The text of an example of using the INDIRECT calc function is found in the wrong place, under ADDRESS.
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118187 --- Comment #6 from Mike Kaganski --- This was not a proper fix here :-( This all was in proper place; the only thing missing was some detail that the first formula for ADDRESS was meant to be in cell B2, like this: = Example: =ADDRESS(1;1;2;;"Sheet2") returns the following: Sheet2.A$1 If **the formula above is in cell B2 of current sheet, and** the cell A1 in sheet 2 contains the value -6, you can refer indirectly to the referenced cell using a function in B2 by entering =ABS(INDIRECT(B2)). The result is the absolute value of the cell reference specified in B2, which in this case is 6. = Current fix tore the combined example apart, making the second part (now placed in INDIRECT) disconnected from the context. There's nothing there now that could describe why "=ABS(INDIRECT(B2))" should suddenly return 6 (how could someone figure that it's "=ADDRESS(1;1;2;;"Sheet2")" that connects B1 to Sheet1.A1?). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

I need to click on the link to the relative path to my CAS file to open it with the program defined in the PC settings to open that file type. With LaTeX such a link is easy to create - either use the "file:" prefix or the "run:" prefix to assure that the linked file is executed not only opened. I attached an example PDF showing that this works. Thus the PDF format understands all URI's: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/URI_scheme but LO doesn't allow the user to use them. LO only supports "http(s):" and "mailto:; I don't see a reason why LO doesn't allow the usage of the other defined URI's. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 118594] impossible to specify relative file link
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118594 Regina Henschel changed: What|Removed |Added CC||rb.hensc...@t-online.de --- Comment #10 from Regina Henschel --- "Document" in the hyperlink dialog means, that the target of the Hyperlink is e.g. a bookmark inside a text document or a slide inside a presentation. With the field 'Path' you select the document and with the field 'Target' you select the target inside the document. You should never insert something manually into these fields, but use the button at the right side of the input field. LibreOffice will automatically generate a suitable syntax. This is especially important, if the path has spaces or special characters. Are you sure, that LibreOffice can play the video? Use Impress and Tools>MediaPlayer to test it. The expected way to link to a Media is to use the MediaPlayer. Open the file in the MediaPlayer and then click on the "Apply" button, that will add a dummy shape for the media. In edit mode you find 'Media Playback' in the sidebar, when you have selected the dummy shape; in presentation mode it will play automatically, when the slide is shown (that implies one media per slide). Or alternatively, for Audio you can use an Interaction "Play Audio" on a shape. For Video you can use an Interaction "Run program" to start a separate application. On Windows the links are relative as default, as long as the place of the document and the link target are on the same drive, even if in a dialog the link is shown as absolute. So no need to worry about it. If you have document and media file in the same folder, you can test it easily: Close document, rename the folder, open the document and the links should still work. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 118809] Firebird: XDatabaseMetaData implementation returns NULL strings for DatabaseProductName and DatabaseProductVersion
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118809 --- Comment #3 from Drew Jensen --- (In reply to Julien Nabet from comment #2) > Drew: we currently use Firebird 3.0.0 > Now version retrieved must work with embedded Firebird and not embedded > Firebird. My .02 worth: (Hopefully if I have any details wrong someone will correct me.) Both the Base embedded Firebird and Base file Firebird use the Firebird embedded engine, which in the Firebird server configuration is referred to as an 'engine12' connection when configuring access to managed files. Server managed .fdb files can be configured to accept 'engine12' connections or reject them. It could make sense then to return a string of 'Firebird (engine12)' for the DatabaseProductName property as it would be the most precise and would be accurate for both scenarios of an embedded database file and an external database file using the firebird sdbc driver. If a user is connecting to a Firebird server with a jdbc or odbc driver the server would see that connection as 'remote' or 'loopback', using tcp/ip or or wnet or whathaveyou, for a file on the local machine or remote machine. Having 'engine12' in the sdbc designation could help if someone tries to create a Base odc and pointed to a managed .fdb file only to be refused connection attempts. > For last one, obviously, we can't use a fixed string to display the version. > For first case, should we display the built Firebird version in LO or the > Firebird version corresponding to the moment we created the file? The version number could be retrieved at runtime by executing SELECT rdb$get_context('SYSTEM', 'ENGINE_VERSION') as version from rdb$database; currently (6.0, 6.1, 6.2) Base sdbc connections return 3.0.0. If the binaries for the Firebird engine going forward are updated that should reflect any change. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 118597] pasting images into LibreOffice Writer is resulting in documents that won't print / render inconsistently with differing number of pages
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118597 --- Comment #4 from Michael Pardee --- Thanks Buovjaga, I didn't think it would render differently on different OSes. I tried it on Windows 10 and manjaro and it renders as 7 pages. I also tried redhat 28 and debian 9.5 and they also render as 7 pages with several different libreoffice versions. But on Ubuntu 18.04 and Linux Mint ( based on Ubuntu ) which include 6.0.3.2 by default, the document renders as 5 pages. If you install 6.0.5.2 on Ubuntu from the libreoffice fresh ppa it still renders as 5 pages. However if you install 6.0.5.2 from the libreoffice site debs into /opt then it renders as 7 pages and uses VCL: gtk2. I thought the gtk3 vs. gtk2 difference might be significant so I uninstalled libreoffice-gtk3 and installed libreoffice-gtk so both use VCL: gtk2 and the version from the Ubuntu repository still renders as 5 pages. Also 6.0.3.2 using VCL: gtk3 renders properly in redhat but not ubuntu, so I don't think it is a gtk2 vs. gtk3 difference. Also, 6.0.6.1 from theubuntu prereleases ppa also renders as 5 pages. I guess I should file a bug against the libreoffice package in Ubuntu, but can anyone here give me any ideas on what difference could be causing this or how to debug it further? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
