i can observe this behaviour e.g. with provided "CountyHunters.ods"

i think, this issue is a duplicate of:
Bug 121963 - button flashing - mouse wheel zooming breaks

if you disagree, please leave a comment and set status to UNCONFIRMED.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 127159] New: Display window width is only 2/3 of screen and display font is too small

2019-08-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127159

Bug ID: 127159
Summary: Display window width is only 2/3 of screen and display
font is too small
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.3.0.4 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: vincetee...@gmail.com

Description:
Display window width only uses 2/3 of the screen, so the display font is tiny!
In order to use the product I need larger display font. Suggest widening the
display to fit the full screen. I spent 2 hours trying every icon and only
found how to enlarge the document font, not the display font. I found no help
on display font size or display boundaries.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open a new install of LibreOffice and there it it!
2.
3.

Actual Results:
Open a new install of LibreOffice and there it it!

Expected Results:
A display window with a display font that was not mice-type. Why not widen the
window to fit the screen, or if there is a way to do that, don't hide it, and
put an entry in the help pages under, Display. Some of us don't have 24"
monitors. I use an 11 inch laptop which works fine for other applications.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
A display window with a display font that was not mice-type. Why not widen the
window to fit the screen, or if there is a way to do that, don't hide it, and
put an entry in the help pages under, Display. Some of us don't have 24"
monitors. I use an 11 inch laptop which works fine for other applications.

This is a Display issue. Profile and Help data is not relevant.

This is the correct setting /MM/DD. However when opening the same file the

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 127157] New: Add the ability to store comments within palette files (.soc)

2019-08-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon

  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement

Palette file with comments

Currently, there's no way to store comments within palette files.

This would be a useful addition: as a document designer, I often have to create
custom palettes. I see a need for two comment levels: at the palette file
level, a comment would allow to store versioning information, the creator's
name and the reason for any update ("created by John Doe, 2019-08-25, to comply
with the new Acme Co graphic identity 2019").
At each color definition level, a comment would allow to keep track of color
details (such as "Pantone 234C").

AFAICS, commenting is not part of the current LibO palettes specifications.

I attach a demo palette with such comments set. It is interesting to note that,
as the "comment" keyword is not used for .soc files, this palette is perfectly
read by LibreOffice (tested under v.5.4).

Moreover, the UI could display the comments as tooltips on mouse hovering the
palette name (global comment) or each individual color (color comment).

Thanks.

Invoking the table menu via Alt + "t" like in previous LO versions doesn't work
any more (I used 6.0 in Linux Mint 19.1 before installing LO update via PPA).
Instead of "t" the letter "a" is underlined - which conflicts with the view
menu (German "Ansicht").
The first time you press Alt + "a" it opens the view menu, the second time
(after ESC) it opens the table menu, and so on.
Alt + "a" > "a" (like in Windows apps with conflicting hotkeys) doesn't work
either.
Very annoying for a feature (working with writer tables) which I use very
often!
Seems to be the same in LO 6.2.3.2 / Windows Version - according to
https://www.libreoffice-forum.de/viewtopic.php?f=5=23258=65725#p65725).

Build ID: 057fc023c990d676a43019934386b85b21a9ee99
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 6.1; UI render: default; VCL: win;
Locale: pl-PL (pl_PL); UI-Language: en-US
Calc: threaded

However I can confirm that the bug is present in:

Version: 6.4.0.0.alpha0+ (x86)
Build ID: 5c30c20101f72d973ff28c228f755e635cad14d5
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 6.1; UI render: default; VCL: win;
Locale: pl-PL (pl_PL); UI-Language: en-US
Calc: threaded

Steps to reporoduce:
1. tools -> customize -> toolbars
2. select icon from assigned commands list
3. click on modify -> change icon ...
4. choose different icon -> ok
5. click ok
6. restart libre office

After the restart icon is back to default.
If anyone else could check on recent master build I would appreciate.

Also the PDF file from Calligra Words 2.9.6.is exported correctly when compared
to the original (Word 97) word file (.doc).

Calligra Words 2.9.6. was created on 2015.

Throughout the French LibreOffice UI we can find "English quotation marks".
Instead, « French guillemets » should always be used at the first level,
according to French language typographical rules that read as follow:

* « French guillemets » should always be used at the first level (main
quotation)
* « Within a quotation (using French guillemets), a second quotation will be
surrounded by ‘‘double English quotation marks’’ »
* « Should we have three levels of quotation, French guillemets will first be
used, ‘‘then double English quotation marks, then ‘single English quotation
marks will be used’, if need be’’ ».

A non-breaking space will be used after the opening French guillemets and
before the closing French guilemets.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 127151] New: Calc lock mouse scrolling for whole opened LO applications and does not show current cell normal cursor when opening complex files

2019-08-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 127151
Summary: Calc lock mouse scrolling for whole opened LO
applications and does not show current cell normal
cursor when opening complex files
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.3.0.4 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED

  Reporter: ingpa...@msoft.it

Created attachment 153642
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=153642=edit
Complex file that causes the bug

When I open a complex CALC file (with a lot of sheets and macros in it) the
whole opened LO applications can't be scrolled using mouse wheel.
In my case I had opened 3 applications:
CALC (4 files opened, including the complex one)
WRITE (1 file opened)
BASIC IDE

Another thing that happens is that cell cursor is no more visible and cells
selected range is not highlighted.
When the file is closed, everything goes back to normal.

My LO release is 6.3.0.4, running on Ubuntu 18.04, Build ID:
1:6.3.0-0ubuntu0.18.04.1~lo2

I attach the file that gives me the problem (with previous LO version there
were no problems opening this file). Although complex, this file is relatively
small (125,3 kB).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 104074] [FILESAVE] Wrong behavior using template via "Open Template": when saving it saved the template directly instead of a new file

2019-08-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon

(Complement to Bug 126901) File>Template opens a 3-item submenu:
Open Template; Save as Template; Manage Templates.
Since Manage Template allows the user to open any from the list, Open
Template is useless (and buggy!), may be removed. Furthermore, Save as Template
should be moved to the submenu of File>Save as, where it logically belong.
(Just extend the .odt type choice to include .ott.)
In the end, the File>Template submenu reduces to one item and can be
removed. File>Template (^N) becomes a direct choice.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 127150] New: BASIC IDE crashes inspecting objects

2019-08-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127150

Bug ID: 127150
Summary: BASIC IDE crashes inspecting objects
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.3.0.4 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: BASIC
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ingpa...@msoft.it

On LibreOffice 6.3.0.4, in my Ubuntu 18.04 (Build ID:
1:6.3.0-0ubuntu0.18.04.1~lo2) basic IDE crashes when I try to inspect object (I
was trying to inspecting a sheet object) and, of course, the whole LibreOffice
crashes and restarts with recover procedure.

I think this is a balancing act. The user should be able to select the text box
conveniently even though every line has text. I would expect us to close this
as WONTFIX.

Currently there is a "buffer" after the end of a paragraph, where the mouse
cursor does appear as "edit text". So if you move the mouse below "abc" in
"Hello hello abcdefghijklmnopqrstu" and to the left, the cursor will change.

Let's swing this by the design team.

2019-08-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 127149
Summary: Add an "Obsolete contents; see up-to-date version" in
legacy help pages
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Documentation
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: mikekagan...@hotmail.com
CC: olivier.hal...@libreoffice.org

E.g., https://help.libreoffice.org/Calc/Error_Codes_in_Calc doesn't state which
version of LO it is relevant to. Search engines have it indexed and display in
top results; people are confused that the content is not up-to-date (see e.g.
https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/206010/mysterious-err540-error-code/?answer=206014#post-id-206014
).

Could we add a band above the legacy help pages stating something like "This
help page is relevant to LibreOffice up to version X; for help pages for
current version, go to https://help.libreoffice.org;?

Interesting.

I have created more than 260 figures (did not count all created figures after
1997) to be used in Word (.doc) documents.

At the moment there are no problems with other figures (>260) and they are
displayed correctly on LibreOffice Writer documents.

I know that Word 97 is an old program, but the many figures have been created
long before OpenOffice and LibreOffice (some figures are created after 1997).

Therefore copying figures from Word (.doc) files to LibreOffice Writer files
(.odt) is so important even today.

I had a similar problem with OpenOffice and I reported a bug report then.

I checked that OpenOffice bug with LibreOffice 6.2.6.2 and this time there was
not a problem.

May be I was unclear with previous texts.

This was my first LibreOffice Writer bug report and I did not remember all
details with bug reporting.

and reloaded tryTest.odt, chose to UpdateStyles: Heading1 ('tryingTest') font
remains bold, even though the style sidebar shows it as italic(Attachment #

This seems to be a rather common cause of frustration for Excel users!

I guess it would be nice to have some solution (if it is scientifically
possible) - adding needsDevAdvice in case there is something fundamental that
will block this.

Cathy: one report for column/bar is fine.

Gentoo has their own build for LibreOffice (LO) but I have been using the LO
distributed binary because it is easier for me to install and update. The LO
binary has always worked well in the past but when I recently updated from
6.1.6.3 to 6.2.5.2 these problems occurred.

But as long as I set SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk or SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen I can use
6.2.5.2 with no problems.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 127148] New: Selectable text and links in dialogs don't have indication of focused state

2019-08-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127148

Bug ID: 127148
Summary: Selectable text and links in dialogs don't have
indication of focused state
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.4.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED

  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: mikekagan...@hotmail.com

1. Open Help->About; the Close button is active (has a rectangle showing that).
2. Press Tab several times
2.1. After first press, there's no indication which control has focus now (it's
actually "Version:" text box, and it's now possible to use cursor keys and
Shift/Control to select text, and Ctrl+C).
2.2. After second press, there's still no indication (now the "See Log:" link
is active, and Enter would open the link in browser).

It would be good to have the text in a selected text box to be either
pre-selected on activation (which would allow to use Ctrl+C right away); or
cursor (vertical bar) shown and blinking indicating the focus; or at least a
focus rectangle shown.

The link seems to *try* drawing dotted focus indicator (visible as blinking if
one presses and holds Tab button to constantly move focus between controls) -
looks like some sort of regression which owerdraws the already drawn
indication.

Tested with Version: 6.4.0.0.alpha0+ (x64)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 120912] Scan options are disabled for LO Calc

2019-08-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=120912

The task to implement the function in Calc includes:

* Creating a scanner event listener (see SwScannerEventListener in sw,
sd::ScannerEventListener in sd), which would actually insert the image in its
disposing() method;
* Creating an implementation for the scan request (see SwView_Impl::ExecuteScan
in sw, DrawViewShell::FuTemporary in sd).

That is the 'Find Bar', distinct from the 'Find & Replace dialog',

they will open with +F and +H respectively.

They can be closed by context menu, or button action on the GUI; but either can
be dismissed immediately after use (while focus is still on the widget) with
the key.

Functions as expected.

The included image

I have saved the doc file to docx using Word 365 and then extracted the image
and attached.

The problem is not in doc or docx import, but in the image itself. If you open
the image in IrfanView or Paint or PaintShopPro (those I have tested), then the
stroke for the rounded rectangles is thick. If you insert the image into Draw,
the stroke is thin.

I reset the profile per the instructions and ran in safe mode and the problem
is still there.

Since I have already reinstalled version 6.2.5.2 and reinstalled my latest
backup profile, I have just reinstalled 6.3.0.4 over top of 6.2.5.2. The
profile is in perfect shape as I used a backup profile from August 1, 2019. I
have attached a before and after version of a file. The before version has not
been modified by 6.3.0.4. The after version has had the following done to it.
I added some lines of code, placed the cursor in cell A46, saved the file with
cell A46 displayed on the screen, closed the file, opened the file, and it
displayed cell A46 as it should, put the cursor in cell A9, saved the file
with cell A9 displayed on the screen, closed the file, opened the file, the
cursor is still in cell A9 but cell A9 is not displayed on the screen, cell A46
is displayed. Cell A9 should be displayed. Hope this helps.

No more testing requests should be done, until we get more input from
developers (or charting experts). Based on Regina's comments, this does not
seem to be a bug.

I tried creating an X-Y chart with the data, but I am not a charting expert and
don't have infinite time at the moment, so I failed to replicate Matthias's
chart with X-Y.

I had to first install hyphen-en package in my Linux package manager. I confirm
the result (after formatting paragraph - Text flow - automatic hyphenation),
but it just means handover does not have multiple hyphenation points in
Hunspell hyphenation source.

https://helponline.libreoffice.org/latest/en-US/text/swriter/guide/using_hyphen.html
https://helponline.libreoffice.org/latest/en-US/text/swriter/01/0603.html

Luke: even after the word has been automatically hyphenated, you can manually
hyphenate it by placing your text cursor after "d" and pressing Ctrl-hyphen on
your keyboard.

Like it says in help: "If you insert a manual hyphen in a word, the word is
only hyphenated at the manual hyphen. No additional automatic hyphenation is
applied for this word. A word with a manual hyphen will be hyphenated without
regard to the settings on the Text Flow tab page."

Anyway, suggestions should be filed to
https://github.com/hunspell/hyphen/issues

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 58231] Retain import support for legacy binary StarOffice files: 1.0 -> 5.0

2019-08-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58231

--- Comment #7 from documentfoundation@l8r.net ---
I realise this is a RESOLVED WONTFIX. Reasons are understood.

However, I did want to provide some historical end-user feedback. I feel this
is imperative for context and comprehension on user-habits.

I've been using computers since I was 6. This may seem trivial, but bear in
mind that I am nearing 50, and that anyone having a computer was unusual, when
I was 6. In all those years, I have had documents that I have kept on my
computers. I am, in fact, I suspect I am one of the first people that lived
their entire lives storing documents digitally... and keeping those documents.

For example, I have calendar entries in my phone's calendar, going back to the
1994. I can actually discern what I did on Wed, Dec 28th, 1994.

I have text documents going back to the early 80s, dumps from fidonet and
punternet mail messages. Private notes. Code written on my C64.

I have emails going back to the late-90s. All of this still readable.

This is all just for context.

Regardless, my point is .. when someone lives such a life? Older documents are
like a book kept in a closet. Documents such as a diary, letters written to
friends, relatives, and for important life events. Notes kept on observations,
everything and anything.

Now imagine you're not 20, or even 30 any more. :P You're the sort that might
put a screwdriver down on a garage workbench, and literally, very literally
need it 14 months later.. and know where it is. Certain parts of your life
move slowly, and have little change.

Which is why only now, in late 2019, did I discover this removal of sdw format
imports.

Literally, 5+ years might go by, before someone might attempt to open a
document from 20 years ago.

I am not specifically blaming anyone for this. I can't imagine keeping 30% of
a codebase, not when short on time, or porting/modifying code that 14 people
and a signing gorilla in the Hague might use.

The removal makes sense.

What I just wish, is that there was more information. I've upgraded through
three entire Debian releases since 3.x has disappear on my system, making it
annoying to attempt a recovery.

I would ask that OOo devs consider this. Just ponder it. I don't know if
there is a better way to inform users. Or to get them to port before removal.

Maybe... down the road, there might be a "OH! I've noticed you have SDW
formatted documents! In the next major release, they're be gone. Do THIS to
save them or else you'll feel pain later!!" sort of thing?

Well, there's my 2 cents. No complaints about removal, but hopes that removal
will happen with a transitory period.

Also, please don't become excited that I keep a calendar entries from the 90s,
obtain it, and travel back in time and kill me using that specific location
data. I assure you, I'll be reincarnated, and old enough to re-write this bug
regardless.

Ctrl-Shift-F9 is *hard* recalc, which recalculates *all* formulas in the

In the summary, you have "with threaded off". The above seems to contradict
this. Is this related to threaded at all?

I ignored steps 3 and 4 as they did not seem necessary.

After inputting "5" in CC1365, I get err:522 in CC and CG columns from row 1322
upwards. Do I reproduce the bug in your view?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 127146] New: Footnotes "After" space disappears while saving as DOC

2019-08-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127146

Bug ID: 127146
Summary: Footnotes "After" space disappears while saving as DOC
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.3.0.4 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: cbogda...@gmail.com

Description:
While using a "Tools -> Footnotes and Endnotes -> After" to set a proper indent
betwen footnote number and footnote itself, I found that it's not work for DOC.

When I save ny file as ODT, all looks quiet good. But when I save it as Word
97-2003 DOC, whatever characters set in "Tools -> Footnotes and Endnotes",
completely disappears both from menu settings and from text itself.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set Tools -> Footnotes and Endnotes -> After and type whatever (some spaces,
f.e.)
2. Enter a footnote in text
3. Save file as ODT
4. Reload ODT file. All looks good: there are "after" characters
5. Save file as Word 97-2003 DOC
6. Reload DOC file. "After" characters disappears both in Tools menu window and
in document's footnotes

Actual Results:
Characters set in "After" section disappears and not applied to text

Expected Results:
Characters from "After" section is saved and applied in text

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No
