[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99488] Writer: Cells protected with Table-Protect Cells not protected when saving to DOC or DOCX

2019-10-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99488

--- Comment #8 from Tom Williams  ---
This issue still occurs in LibreOffice Writer 6.2.7.1 on Ubuntu Linux. I'll
see if I can try a newer version of LibreOffice, when I get a chance. This is
what I did:

1) Open the test ODT file in Writer
2) Save it as a DOCX file
3) Open the DOCX file in Writer
4) Try to enter values in a protected cell

Actual results: The value I attempted to enter into a protected cell was
successfully entered.

Expected results: The value I attempted to enter into a protected call should
NOT have been successfully entered.

When I perform these same steps with the original ODT file, I get an error
popup indicating I can't enter data in a protected cell.

Dear antoine,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,
QA Team

Dear Klaus Bucka-Lassen,

4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,
QA Team

The behavior is still the same in this version:

版本:6.3.2.2
組建 ID:98b30e735bda24bc04ab42594c85f7fd8be07b9c
CPU 執行緒:4; OS:Linux 5.2; UI 算繪:預設; VCL: kde5;
語言地區:zh-TW (zh_TW.UTF-8); UI語言:zh-TW
Calc: threaded

As my attachment shows, if a merged cell was selected fully and dragged to the
right column, the copied cell would still become a single cell even if I merged
it before dragging.

--- Comment #16 from Doug  ---
Worrying about maintaining Legacy is what has kept the software industry in the
dark ages. Windows is base on a core that is decades old now.

Don't get me started on how Microsoft implements things. I was on their
Windows Alpha and Beta team and stopped Gates from releasing Windows to
the streets half done.

I could name dozens of code blunders that still exist in their core products.

Especially after they started using H1B coders.

ODF leaves a lot to be desired too. Sometimes there are reasons proprietary
products work better. Open source is not the miracle it is portrayed to be.

I can understand you don’t want to bother about gerrit account so i may submit
the patch myself but IMHO at least you should do the license part since i’ll
quote you in the commit.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 50916] Allow more than 1024 columns in calc

2019-10-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50916

Hi Kevin,

> Well.. I downloaded source code and prepared a folder, but.. I don't know how
> to start, see, etc... For me is big project at "first see". Any help I will
> appreciate it much :)

Great attitude ! so - I just pushed another small sample patch like this:

https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/81000 sc: rowcol: tdf#50916

And remembered the commit id - which should help link it into this bug as/when
it goes through gerrit.

In a nutshell, for each use of 'MAXCOL' we need to classify whether this is an
'easy' one - ie. we have a well defined use-case, and an in-range column (it
seems we use MAXCOL+1 as an out-of-bound magic/invalid) state. And for all the
easy ones we need to just replace the macro MAXCOL with pDoc->MaxCol() - for
some value of pDoc [ we need a reliable pointer and/or reference to the
document we are using that reference for ].

Hopefully that makes sense. I would submit these in small chunks (as above) to
gerrit - and let our CI system compile and test the result; you could possibly
even edit inside gerrit for this one - but best to get familiar with doing that
on the real code.

Please do CC me or Noel for reviews,

Thanks ! =)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 128221] New: CJK characters have wrong orientation in frame with bt-lr writing-mode

2019-10-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Created attachment 155098
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=155098=edit
CJKcharacters_in_bt-lr.odt has a ordinary frame and one with bt-lr writing-mode

Open attached file. It has two frames, one with default lr-tb writing-mode and
a copy of it with bt-lr writing-mode. The CJK characters have wrong orientation
in bt-lr writing mode.
Because bt-lr is no writing-mode for an existing language but is used for 90°
counter-clockwise rotation, the CJK characters should have the same orientation
as the latin characters.
This is needed too, if you want to use bt-lr writing-mode to emulate the
vert="vert270" text rotation on import of docx documents. Such is currently
needed, because the text area of a shape cannot rotate if it is in frame text
mode (Text Box is attached), and that is currently always the case for shape
import from docx.

I'll give it a try on Windows to compare.

Uh, Doug -- that is _exactly_ the way Microsoft Excel implements Auto Input
completion, by the active columns. Except MS screws it up and the Auto Input
breaks when there are empty cells intervening on the column--the column cells
have to be contiguous to continue Auto Input from above cells.

> Sound like Libre inherited a lot of poorly thought out code from Open Office.
> One of the major deficiencies of GNU projects.

Don't know that I'd go that far--there were some pretty functional things
worked out to implement an ODF compliant office suite for OpenOffice. And, most
of us respect that legacy--moving LibreOffice forward in ways that make sense.

Frankly conflating a Calc spreadsheet field input aid--AutoInput-- with our
general autocorrection mechanism (which handles string replacements and now
Emoji entry) would not make much sense.

The odb file seems really corrupted.
I used hexedit to see beginning of the file, I've got:

So it's not even zip signature:
   50 4B 03 04

See

I've a created a brand new odb file, the signature is indeed present.

Tor/Stephan: even if the zip file is corrupted, I think LO shouldn't crash.
I took a look to the crash log and the stack chain is:
GetMetadataForFile -> OOoSpotlightImporter
importDocument:contentType:attributes -> OOoSpotlightImporter openZipFileAtPath
-> readCentralDirectoryEntry -> readInt

then taking a look at "GetMetadataForFile", we got:
However, considering this code:
47 Boolean importOK = NO;
48 @try {
49 importOK = [importer importDocument:(NSString*)pathToFile
50 contentType:(NSString*)contentTypeUTI
51
attributes:(NSMutableDictionary*)attributes];
52 }
53 @catch (NSException *exception) {
54 NSLog(@"main: Caught %@: %@", [exception name], [exception
reason]);
55 }
see
https://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/extensions/source/macosx/spotlight/GetMetadataForFile.m?r=c5a51893#34

Shouldn't the catch block catches any pb here?
How to prevent LO from crashing?
