[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 41652] "NO-BREAK SPACE" (U+00A0) interpreted as fixed-width space

2019-11-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41652

Unicode has that "non-breaking" property only set to some of its different
spaces. But in reality, different typographic rules of countries/bodies/times,
as noted, may require full repertoire of spaces of different width and
properties (fixed/widening/shortening) to be breaking *and* non-breaking
variants. ODF could introduce a special internal "non-breaking" character
property applicable to any space character, which would override normal Unicode
algorithm; that would allow for adding shortcuts for such combos. Without that,
any "fix" like the one asked here by many would only fix things for vocal
minority, and break things for most users who naturally don't participate in
discussion here, because - well, it just works for them, and they don't look
for this bug ;-)

Note that what I propose would require an ODF extension.

Hi Stuart,

The confusion that I have is when I use the right mouse button on the
expand/collapse icon/button the Expand/Collapse All menu item is then opposite
of what I expected to find. Let's wait and see if this is a source of confusion
for any other but myself. It really is minor ;-) Thanks for the input.

Have tested the attachment. Input a new row, closed the table, deleted the
whole table. Works here with LO 6.3.3.2 on OpenSUSE 15 64bit rpm Linux.

Then I tested to add a field, but I couldn't close the window without saving
the table. A dialogue appears. What did you press there if you don't save it? I
saved the table, not the whole document and could also delete the table.

I was a bit confused about the Style in the sidebar but then realized that
Kenneth is referring to the Properties deck Style panel paragraph style combo
box and not the Style deck style tree list. I confirm all is working when
focus is in the combo box even Ctrl-0 and Ctrl-1 which respectively select and
apply Text Body and Heading 1 for me. tdf#125525 changed shortcut keys to work
from the sidebar.

Dear Lucio Marinelli,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

I think this is a rendering issue. It usually happens more frequently with big
and complex documents with more pages, less with little docs. It happens
randomly when I scroll it up or down.
Now I'm usually using LO Writer in Normal View. For a while I'm going to edit
the document in Web view to check if this view gives the issue as well. I'm not
able to respond about the zoom level question. Sorry.

I don't know if it is some kind of problem with my graphic card or drivers or
openGL things...

Anyway my gcard is the following:

Hope this helps. I don't know if there is some kind of incompatibility with LO.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 128405] Style formatting and management - bullet and number lists continue to stay applied even changing style to a paragraph

The problem is that it must be possible to be done by applying another style:
if I've created a style and I use styles with numbered lists and then I want to
return to normal paragraph and normal paragraph has a bunch of formatting in it
of course I don't want to hit Normal style then manually disable all others
trails that remain around because of let's call em "lone formatting" that don't
go away...

Better doing with an example.

I have a file that has a bunch of styles. One is "Normal paragraph" that has a
collection of formattings. Another style is "Structured Numbered List" that has
in it a bunch of different formattings for font, alignment, tabs, etc... and
allows me to create structured numbered lists. So I can create in just one
click a list and sub-lists in it that just work fine.

But if I want to go back to the Normal paragraph than I have the problem
mentioned in the original post. So I have to apply the normal style and also I
have to switch off the numbering ugly behavior IMHO. When I change the
style the numbering must be turned off with just that move. If not what's the
point to even to have a style collection of if I have to set every formatting
manually every time? It is pointless. I create a style to apply at once a
complex formatting, to have coherence among all instances. And also when I
change the style all instances (even hundreds or thousands of them) get updated
accordingly. But if I have to modify them by hands using styles to regroup
complex formatting is pointless because they lose the coherence, overall in
complex documents...

Hope I explicated well my point of view this time. Maybe cause I'm not good
enough at English (my mother tongue is Italian) frequently I can't express my
thoughts as I have in my mind. I'm deeply sorry for this, so please I beg
everybody to be patient with me. I'm working on my English every day to improve
it as fast as I can, hoping nobody gets offended in the meantime for any
mistake due to my ignorance.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 128282] restart manually numbering of numbered lists

2019-11-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128282

I think that the most logical default behavior of this is as follow:

1. paragraph with number
2. paragraph with number
3. paragraph with number
normal paragraph
1. paragraph with number
2. paragraph with number
3. paragraph with number

in other words when I apply a style with numbers in it, LO must start from 1 as
happens in HTML ordered lists when I create a new list. All the style
formatting is applied as well but it restarts from one. Example in HTML:

paragraph with number
paragraph with number
paragraph with number

normal paragraph

paragraph with number
paragraph with number
paragraph with number

Why?
Most of the time when a user creates new lists some paragraph or even some
chapters after the last numbered list, (s)he wants a list that starts from 1
not from 5 or 10 or else.

I have to say that even MS Word does it the wrong way as LO does (just tried v.
2010 and I remember 2003 had the same IMHO wrong behavior). The HTML example
above in fact is IMHO the most logical way ordered lists have to behave by
default.

And I hope LO (and Word) will follow HTML model as well.

Sometimes when I edit complex documents in MS Word I also get mad because when
I update the style in certain situations MS Word renumbers all instances of the
numbered lists that are separated and must start from 1 but it make them to
continue so I have to go manually and hit Restart at 1 more and more and more
times... Sorry but this is really UGLY! And this is also a motivation to make
it work as HTML does that doesn't have any problem: a new list is really a NEW
list.

IMHO it largely preferable that when the numbered list style is applied
restarts by default and IF the user needs to continue from the previous
numbering (s)he clicks Continue numbering from right click menu or toolbar or
else, but this happens so rarely, even in complex documents.

So I hope LO and MSWord (and others) will follow the same HTML model that is
intuitively the most logical.

Well, reproduce in the sense that I see the two buttons with the icons
mentioned in the original report (see attached screenshot), and that the left

I don't know Korean so can't verify the reporter's claim that they are wrong

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 98285] FORMATTING: Paragraph background colour in table cells cannot be changed and saved, if whole cell was not selected

2019-11-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98285

Hi

I have tested, and the problem is (in some sense) solved.

Before, I could left-click a cell and when I chose a colour, the cell would get
this colour, but with a small white border.

Now, when I left-click and choose a colour, the entire frame gets coloured
(without the white border), just as it would if I had marked the entire cell
and chosen a colour in older versions.

I have tested in a document with coloured cells with borders (from an older
version) and in v. 6.3.3.2 it is not possible to change or remove the colour in
these cells anymore.

This is not a big issue for me, however, since the new behaviour in v. 6.3.3.2
(colouring the entire cell regardles of whether I have just lef-clicked the
cell or I have marked the entire cell) is more appropriate and correct
behaviour in my opinion.

It could affect people with documents as mine (with coloured cells with
borders), though, making it impossible for them to change the colour of those
cells, so the best solution would be to make LibreOffice in some way clear the
colouring of the cells with borders before applying the new colour (that is: If
I have a cell with a red box and white border, and I choose a green background
colour, LibreOffice should remove any colour formatting of the cell - the red
colour - before applying the green colour. Right now it is impossible to remove
the red colour, and the green colour is only visible in the border around the
red colour).

In any case, I think the behaviour where LibreOffice made the coloured box with
the border must have been a bug to begin with, so the new behaviour is correct,
whether it makes it impossible to change the colour of cells coloured as
described above or not.

Sorry. I just did an investigation on that subject and so far I am notifying

you are right and I was wrong because I had not updated and I did not assume

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 128575] New: Lack of coordination between the location of the words, and the click location

2019-11-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128575

Bug ID: 128575
Summary: Lack of coordination between the location of the
words, and the click location
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.3.2.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ori0...@gmail.com

Description:
1. The Hebrew toolbar should be on the right, and it appears to be on the left.
But in fact, it is only possible to click on the right side without knowing
what you are pressing because the words are on the left.
2. The words in the toolbar's click menu are supposed to be on the right as
well, but in fact they are on the left on the symbols and half-enclaves at the
edges

see pic:
https://i.imgur.com/VN0dCEf.jpg

Actual Results:
no need! just try the hebrew version

Expected Results:
what you can see in the picture i added

Reproducible: Always

Now I can't make LO crash with these conditions either! Using the same
version, 6.3.2.2, with OpenCL enabled or disabled, then enabling OpenGL I can't
make LO crash! I can't think how I crashed it before but it most certainly did
when I enabled OpenGL. So same result as Oliver Brinzing is seeing - no crash,
but incorrect rendering.

I tried with a new document and also reset my user profile through safe mode,
but got the same result - default Numbering Separator in "Insert – Caption"
dialog is different from the one in AutoCaption options (separator is correct
in the latter).

Should I file a new bug that configuration that you've changed does not affect

@Jim, selectively opening or closing the branches of the tree view seems
natural.

Mixing -/+ expose buttons vs. the collapse context menu actions does not seem
at all confusing to me.

You always have the visual representation of what is exposed--and the location
where one selects the expose button or opens the context menu is immediately
apparent during use.

Having some branches still closed after a collapse all and expand all cycle
seems comfortable--while requiring a second expand all (or + expose button) on
a branch or for the whole tree makes for better workflow.

Not seeing a down side to how you've implemented--thanks by the way!

This is a valid request.

Note that to enable the preview, ~full LibreOffice would need to be loaded
inside the Explorer, because there's no light-weight file viewer in LO (and
basically all components take part in import/layout/display of the document). I
have no idea how comfortable might that delay be (or what are the implications
of crashing inside the preview). I can only be sure that tdf#69043 will get
worse, because more processes in more scenarios would use LO files.

The ActiveX control (that embeds LO documents to ActiveX clients) has a
functionality that possibly could be re-used here.

Yes, I marked it invalid in error. More likely it ends up a WONTFIX. But with
needed refactoring for bug 127433 to support Windows Dark mode, may be of dev
interest to implement.

Windows shell integration is provided in core/win32/shlxthdl where ooofilt
provides the current ability to search within ODF documents.

While one page 'preview' thumbnails are provided by a dedicated
shlxthdl/thumbviewer that extracts a document preview if recorded into the ODF
archive and makes it available to the Windows shell (needs refactoring for bug
127433).

Though LibreOffice provides a search/find capability, there is no LibreOffice
provided preview of ODF in the Windows Explorer 'Preview Pane' as implemented
at Windows Vista for visual browsing of documents in Windows Explorer. [1]

Preview Handlers get recorded to Windows registry in
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\PreviewHandlers and linked by
file extension.

When installed, Microsoft Office (365, 2016) provides a Preview Handler
implementation for browsing OOXML formatted documents and for some ODF
formats--but these are not LibreOffice's ODF renderings.

(In reply to JS from comment #2)

>

No, at that point in the BZ issue that discussion was only about the Microsoft
Office provided 'Preview Handler' not previewing AOO documents. Seems no longer
an issue with Office 365 or Office 2016 installed.

> The internet is full of users complaining about this. I think solving this

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 128572] New: Crash LibreOffice Calc when running python script importing matplotlib.pyplot

2019-11-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128572

Bug ID: 128572
Summary: Crash LibreOffice Calc when running python script
importing matplotlib.pyplot
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.0.7.3 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: bill.a.lu...@gmail.com

Description:
I have a script that runs in LibreOffice Calc that uses matplotlib.pyplot.
It used to work on a daily basis, but I ran it yesterday, (after a gap of maybe
2 months) and it crashed libreoffice.

Through trial and error I narrowed down the last statement run before the crash
to "import matplotlib.pyplot as plt". When I removed the statement, the
script ran without a crash.

I moved the "import matplotlib.pyplot as plt" line down to after the logging
started, and this message came out in the log before the crash occurred:
"Loaded backend qt5agg version unknown." QT5Agg is a "Backend" for pyplot,
i.e., it provides lower-level graphics support for the drawing of the chart
images.

If I put this in a python script outside of the libreoffice environment (for
example, in a jupyter notebook, or a standalone python script), it doesn't
crash.

I'm wondering whether LO cannot access the backend QT5Agg, and that's why this
crash is happening.

As I say, this used to work fine every time, and after no changes to the script
it crashes Libreoffice, this would have occurred over perhaps the last 2
months. I've been keeping my software up-to-date.

Python : 3.6.8
Matplotib : 3.1.1
Kubuntu 18.04
KDE: 5.12.9
QT : 5.9.5

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create python script with the following lines of code: (I'm assuming that
it would be necessary to match the OS, LO version, etc.) This is a simplified
script that I hope will suffice for bug reporting purposes)

import matplotlib
import matplotlib.pyplot as plt

def ThisBreaksinLO():
pass

2. Open an empty Calc spreadsheet and run the script
3. It will cause LO to crash

Actual Results:
LibreOffice crashed

Expected Results:
The script will run without crashing LibreOffice. The script does not do
anything but load the modules.

Reproducible: Always

  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED

Context:
2 layers named "Cercles" and "carrés" in draw page.
In "Cercles" layer, différents shape.
The button "Circle with Circle macro" in main page hide or show the draw in
"cecles" shapes.

This macro is link with the button "Circle with Circle macro":

sub Circle
dim LibOGestCouches as object
LibOGestCouches  = thiscomponent.LayerManager

If I read this correctly, 4.3 changed the behavior to scale proportionally by
default. With the shift-key you can scale unproportionally

So closing as not a bug

This is mentioned in our FAQ [1].

Of course, it's wrong to alter installer to continue when failed to perform one
of the things selected for installation. This is absolutely incorrect, and will
not be done. The parameter Oliver have mentioned in comment 5 is the correct
thing to do if you cannot disable AV interfering with installation.

Closing NOTOURBUG (an antivirus should not prevent installing icons by MSI
running with elevated permissions).
