[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 128595] Document difference for words and characters and spaces when copying and pasting text

2019-11-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128595

I don't know what you mean by "use case."

I copy text so that I don't have to retype it and re-establish its
characteristics such as font, size, bold, italic or special characters. It is
often much faster to copy the text than to scroll through the dropdown list of
fonts.

It is not reasonable to send you my entire document, which is now around 115
pages, so I have isolated the problems for you and sent you examples, with
explanations of how I got the results.

With LO 6.3.3.2 on OpenSUSE 15.1 64bit rpm Linux the fields could be copied:
Set the mouse on the column-header.
Click left button of the mouse.
Move the mouse - a "+" appears here.
Release the left button of the mouse.
The field has been "copied".

Note: Only the data-connection will be copied.
All formats of the original fields will be lost.

So nothing has been changed for this bug. Moving of fields in a tablecontrol is
still impossible.

Dear Xisco Faulí,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,

This bug is about the objects not appearing in the Navigator at all, while bug
130216 is about those objects not having a rename entry in their context menu,
thus this is not a duplicate.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 128989] New: libreoffice fails to print, may be related to page size confusion between cm and inches

2019-11-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128989

Bug ID: 128989
Summary: libreoffice fails to print, may be related to page
size confusion between cm and inches
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.3.3.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: digi...@joescat.com

Description:
Crash report URL included.
I think this might be due to some sort of confusion with cm, inches when
sending page to printer.
Earlier versions of libreoffice noticeably did not have measurements as 0.5" or
1" but had a rounded value such as 0.49 or 0.79 and therefore probably was
acceptable by the printer. I did notice with this version that although the
write document was letter-size like 8.5" x 11", the printer preview was showing
mm values. I don't know if this was oversized, or maybe confused as some huge
paper size in inches. In any case, it worked okay with libreoffice 4.x, spooled
but not printed with 6.2, and currently crashes with libreoffice 6.3

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Fresh install of LibreOffice
2. Settings set to Canadian (we are on metric system now), however, set rulers
to display in inches.
3. Page set to "Letter" size which is 8.5" x 11"
4. Printer loaded with Letter size paper.
5. create/save letter sized document.
6. Select Print
7. Notice that although you chose letter size you see in print preview shows mm
8. print document - crash occurs. (in 6.2 it went to print spool but did not
print I believe due to wrong size paper settings).

Actual Results:
Version 6.2 would spool results but printer did not actually print document.

Current version 6.3 of libreoffice crashed. Here is the crash report:
crashreport.libreoffice.org/stats/crash_details/4a0761ee-ff32-498a-b736-27dc7e2bcb41

Expected Results:
Libreoffice writer set to Canadian, and also set for "inches" not "cm" due to
older users who are accustomed to English measurements plus "letter" sized
paper, not metric A4 paper - expected print to send to spool, and then proceed
to print.

Reproducible: Always

I'm not able to attach a document that does it every time because the problem
happens randomly. I think it is an issue due to rendering as I said before, so
IMHO it doesn't matter the text content of the doc. Just I have to add enough
text in it an after a while it happens scrolling the document up or down. This
is why I added a screenshot instead of a Write file.

Sorry.

As you can see, same version works perfectly on MATE, but it crash on LXQT

Be advice, using libreofice debian 10 packages on LXQT works without
problems.

I think that is a bug over LXQT.

Sorry Julien... I think that is not dependency issue, why? Libreoffice works
perfectly using MATE in same computer.. I mean, if I open a session using MATE
desktop manager, I ca open without problem Libreoffice, but If I start LXQT in
same computer... Libreoffice crash according my report.

I will be able to reproduce again the bug, Mate works perfectly but now
libreoffice download from page version 6.2.82 crashed.

I've found another problem but I think that it is the same nature, in the sense
that it is due to the same cause.

Try the following procedure:
1) create a new file
2) insert some generic text in it
3) then apply on it a formatting as size 8pt
4) then try to apply on it the default style: it works every where but the text
you have applied the 8pt size
5) also try to modify the style it self (right click on the style name on the
sidebar and then click the “Modify” item on the right click menu). Into the
dialog that appears modify the text size and set it to let say 35pt (or any
other size you want) then confirm and close the dialog. You will notice that
all the text has updated to match the new size but the text formatted before.
This persist even if I change the style of the paragraph style or the Char
style from the corresponding section in the sidebar.

Even this behavior in a word processing software is wired and awkward.

Nevertheless IMHO I think the nature of this problem is the same of the
original post of this thread. In the sense that LO Write stacks styles in an
incoherent way creating this kind of result. And this cannot be the desired
behavior because the logic wants that if I select a piece of text and I apply a
style on it I want to overwrite the previous formatting for the same type of
style. So if I apply a paragraph.

Of course this strange behavior can easily make the text formatting incoherent
from a paragraph to another and even inside the same paragraph even if you
don't want to.

I have added a new attachment.

I'm unsure if UI is the right component to report form control issues.

I noticed this when one of my database forms became unusable after upgrading
from 6.2 to 6.3. My form catches double-clicks by means of the mouse release
script event. Under certain conditions the event is triggered twice. This
affects table controls, list boxes, combo boxes, text boxes if they are
multi-line and some more controls if they have a spin button but not the spin
button control.
The attached text includes a simple macro and lots of form controls.
The macro fires 2 message boxes when double-clicking a yellow control with LO
6.3.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 128987] New: Bad font rendering in Writer, mainly with serif fonts: it seems like font kerning has gone awry

2019-11-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128987

Bug ID: 128987
Summary: Bad font rendering in Writer, mainly with serif fonts:
it seems like font kerning has gone awry
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.3.3.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: shack...@gmail.com

Description:
This graphic glitch happens mostly with zoom factors multiple of 100%. Using
serif font like Times New Roman, Liberation Serif et al., I see a little space
after many characters, in particular after the lowercase m. Setting another
zoom factor, like 103%, seems to reduce the effect of this bug. I don't see
this behaviour in other office apps, like Microsoft Word, that render font
correctly. Also, I've seen this glitch under Windows, Linux and Mac OS.
Enabling or disabling OpenGL doesn't make any difference.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set zoom at a multiple of 100%
2. Write some text in Times New Roman (or other serif font) and see how it
appears
3. Set zoom at another value and note the difference

Actual Results:
Wrong font rendering, as described

Expected Results:
Better font rendering

Reproducible: Always

There are a couple more bugs that should probably be included here: Live

And adding the ability to minimize the presenter console window:

What is status of Tools -> Options -> Load/Save -> General:

'Save URL relative to File system'?

Default is checked enabled.

Looks like checking disabled would use an absolute path.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 128926] PPS files will not play with Libre Office Impress 6.2.8

2019-11-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128926

Further information. This was a brand new PC and I downloaded Libreoffice
6.2.8 and ran it with the default options it installs... this resulted in the
crash I described.

I recall I fiddled with safe mode and it ran ONLY ONCE (I tested moving down
about 4 slides then exited as I was giddy with excitement) and crashed on all
further attempts to make it run in safe mode. This would be after exiting safe
mode and restarting safe mode.

I then downloaded Libreoffice 6.3.3 and updated the PC. Testing with 6.3.3 I
found that this does not play with OpenGL turned on. However this file does
play with openGL turned off.

As this particular PC has been delivered to the client I can no longer test on
it with 6.2.8 for you.

However I do have an interim summary of my findings and that is it may be this
particular file is unique in some way I dont understand. It has problems
playing with OpenGL turned on. Other PPS files I have sourced since then for
comparision all played on this computer with OpenGL turned ON on 6.3.3.

Thus I find it difficult to conclude if this is an issue unique to the file I
was asked to trouble shoot and provided to you or if this is an issue related
to the application and the OS. Perhaps you know how to parse this better.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 128986] New: EDITING: Support fill character for first tab stop together with a hanging indent

2019-11-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128986

Bug ID: 128986
Summary: EDITING: Support fill character for first tab stop
together with a hanging indent
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.3.3.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: markus.elfr...@web.de

Description:
The display is missing for a fill character of the first tabulator position in
a paragraph where a hanging indent was selected.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Enter the letter “A” in an empty paragraph.

2. Add a tab character.

3. Enter the letter “B”.

4. Specify a line break (shift + enter key) for this paragraph.

5. Enter the letter “C”.

6. Configure a single left aligned tab stop at “2 cm” together with a fill
character (dash for example).

https://help.libreoffice.org/6.4/en-GB/text/shared/01/05030300.html#hd_id3159151

7. Adjust paragraph properties for a hanging indent.

https://help.libreoffice.org/6.4/en-GB/text/shared/01/05030100.html#hd_id3149169
Example: Value “2 cm” for “Before text” and a value “-2 cm” for “First
line”.

Actual Results:
Indentation is performed without the display of the selected fill character.

Expected Results:
A filling should be displayed in the first line for a known tabulator position
in this paragraph.

Reproducible: Always

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 128985] New: FILESAVE, FILEOPEN: Style text directionss revert to RTL on save and re-open

2019-11-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128985

Bug ID: 128985
Summary: FILESAVE, FILEOPEN: Style text directionss revert to
RTL on save and re-open
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.3.3.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: eyal...@technion.ac.il

Description:
If you save certain presentations, the text directions of many/most/all styles
is set to RTL rather than LTR (either when saving or when opening).

Steps to Reproduce:

Consider the attached presentation.

Its various styles are set to RTL direction (e.g. Outline, Title) - therefore,
when you open it in Impress, you see the Bullet to the right, rather than the
left, of the "hello world" text:

hello world *

rather than

* hello world

Now,

1. Change the Outline 1 style's direction to LTR:
   1.1 Open sidebar
   1.2 Switch to style sidebar
   1.3 Right-click "Outline 1"
   1.4 Select the Alignment Tab
1.5 Change the Text Direction setting to LTR
   1.6 Click OK.
2. Save the presentation
3. Close the presentation
4. Open the presentation (with or without having exited LO altogether)

Actual Results:
The Outline 1 style has RTL direction again, and we see "hello world *".

Expected Results:
The Outline 1 style should have LTR direction again, and we should see "* hello
world".

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Additional Info:
I'm not sure under which conditions this happens. It may or may not have to do
with content originally imported from MS Powerpoint. But - this makes the
presentation unusable without having to set a bunch of directions every time
you open it.

Maybe you have somehow unworking accessibility in your system? I can still
repro with gtk3, but not with kf5, so it is consistent with the perf results
pointing to accessibility.

In this older screenshot, you don't have "Including styles" checked. Stuart
advised in comment 3 to check it. Can you test again with this option?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 128868] In LibreOffice Impress Console view, clicking on the scroll bar or control buttons advances the slide

2019-11-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon

I was not allowed to change the priority, but this should be higher. It makes
the buttons in the console/ presenter view unusable.
On the other hand, this might be a duplicate seeing that I couldn't reproduce
in 6.4.0.0.beta1.
