[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 128960] Editing: Add a more direct way to clear character styles
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128960 --- Comment #12 from Mike Kaganski --- (In reply to Dieter Praas from comment #11) > Either Default style is a character style (in this case documentation should > be changed) or "Default style" removes character style and therefor it is > not a character syle itself (in this case name "Default Style" should be > changed) Default *character* style is actually a pseudo-style; a name for "no character style applied". While it might be good to document something about that, I don't think that renaming it is a good idea, because its current name creates some consistency with e.g. paragraph styles, where "default style" exists (and is actual configurable style). For user, it means something basic and simple. Or - if a rename is wanted - it could be something like "Character settings defined at paragraph level" - too long, although correct. You cannot even name it "Paragraph style settings", because "no character style" aka "Default character style" means both paragraph style setting, and *direct paragraph-level formatting* are used for character properties. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 120469] Object anchored to paragraph doesn't move if an enter is inserted at the beginning of the paragraph
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=120469 --- Comment #4 from Mike Kaganski --- (In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #3) > Adding paragraphs above moves the object, so effectively the anchor is set > to the end of the previous paragraph. As far as I know, there is no "adding paragraphs above" function in writer's normal text. When your cursor is inside a paragraph, it's *inside* the paragraph; its position is "M leading paragraph characters to the left of the cursor; N trailing paragraph characters to the right of the cursor". The M and N vary, and M might be 0, but the principle doesn't change. And when the cursor is at 3rd character, and Enter is pressed, no one would be surprised that the image anchored to the paragraph stays with the first two characters that stay where they were. As I said in comment 1, special-casing of position 0 makes sense - because it might be intuitive; or because it's currently no means to move images anchored to very first paragraphs without re-anchoring. But the implementation needs discussing. I see the following options: 1. Make only the very first position in the document special: because for other places in the document, you always can insert paragraphs before this one by putting cursor at the end of the previous paragraph. 2. Make any paragraph's start special (may possibly create other inconveniences for users not expecting that, but I cannot invent a case at the moment). 3. Introduce an "Insert paragraph above this" special function, using Alt+Enter, *consistent with behaviour in the beginning of a table*. IMO that would introduce consistency and avoid special-casing. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

A little quote from the comment: "I tested 6.3 ... [but] the Open/Save file dialog still shows up as "soffice.bin" and as a result creates a second entry in the taskbar when it is invoked." For me it's not just the file picker, but also all other dialogs I could test. Doesn't matter if the are modal or not, doesn't matter if they are transient or not. This happens in LO KF5 only. Other KDE apps, like kate, won't have separate entries in the task bar for opened dialogs or file pickers. Same for the gen and gtk3 backends. Oh - and I noticed before, that there is something broken with the transient setting wrt Qt5. If one opens "About Libre Office" and clicks on the start center => not so nice flickering. Finding the origin of this problem was a longer journey of comparing xprops of windows, reading the Xcb Qt backend and identifying (now fixed) Qt bugs and in the end drawing the right conclusions. Long story short: the KDE task bar ignores dialogs, which are transient to a main window and grouped. Huh - but LO qt5 sets transiency and also WM_CLIENT_LEADER, like gtk3 or gen. Yes, but Qt Xcb is a little picky for which Qt::WindowType's it will really tell the window manager about the transient state (xprop WM_TRANSIENT_FOR; if you're curious look for the little isTransient function in Qt5's source). Qt::Window is not in that list, and the dialogs I tested all have no SalFrameStyleFlags::DIALOG set. On top of it is QTBUG-46626, which I originally thought to be the problem, before actually checking kate, and were I already implemented a "non-working" fix (the fix works to set the missing WM_HINTS window group, but it doesn't fix this problem). The other half of the story is the file picker, which just runs in application modal state, but also with no parent. I have an older patch for that too, but that needs some "dedusting". Time for some sleep. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open any LO dialog, like "About LO" or the file picker Actual Results: The dialog shows up as a separate taskbar entry. Expected Results: The dialog doesn't shows up as a separate taskbar entry. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: I didn't really check, but I guess it's broken since qt5 was added. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116770] Unable to change to rotation mode by clicking shape/box again when option "Only text area selectable" is active
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116770 --- Comment #5 from QA Administrators --- Dear Buovjaga, To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 82627] FILEOPEN DOCX: Text Not Rotated in Text Boxes with Rotation
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=82627 --- Comment #14 from Aron Budea --- Some details on this from Miklos. There are two kinds of text containers in shape: Writer or editeng. The Writer one can contain complex content, but can't be rotated, while the editeng one can be rotated. Word doesn't have this kind of distinction, and currently DOCX import creates Writer text in a shape. This can be confirmed by turning on formatting marks: if end-of-paragraph markers are shown in side the text box, it's Writer text, if not then it's editeng-based. A potentially quick and dirty way to fix this would be to switch the DOCX import to use editeng-based text containers in shapes. Providing a real fix will be more difficult. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 128960] Editing: Add a more direct way to clear character styles
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128960 --- Comment #10 from Thomas Lendo --- Hm, if something existing isn't good to use or will not be used regardless of whether it would be useful, then this is an indicator of bad usability of existing tools. Instead of bringing more complexity to an already complex field of possibilities (here: the styles concept) with a new feature, we should allow users to better use existing features. The question is how to make this possible. More help texts? Tool tips? Another arrangement or naming of commands? I'm talking about character styles only and I'm with Heiko in comment 9. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 128973] Create a per-document "Paragraph style used by default" setting
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128973 --- Comment #6 from Thomas Lendo --- I like the idea! Looks like a nice addition of a new neat setting in the Writer section of LibO options. As Stuart wrote, this must be implemented with fixing bug 47295. Personally I use a own set of paragraph styles for instructions (operator manuals). https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59253 --- Comment #16 from Anastasius --- Bug still present in LO 6.2.8.2. As stated in comment 4, the bug is not present if "Edit Points" (F8) is off (Only outline rectangle is shown and editable, not the individual points of the curve). If "Edit Points" (F8) is on (i.e., one can edit individual points of a curve), as soon as one curve is selected, shift-drag to add to the selection does not work any more. So I think that the test case with the attached drawing can be simplified to: (1) Make sure that "Edit Points" (F8) is on. (2) Select any of the curves. (3) Shift-drag oven one or several objects to add them to the selection. This object or these objects will not selected (but should be selected). This is extremely distracting visually. I use the Navigator for Headings navigation, and had the Navigator panel docked to the left side of the app frame. However The workaround for me is to Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open a .odt with a number of H1-H3 chapter headings (don't think the content is part of the issue) 2. Display the Navigator, enable Content Navigation View. I have Heading Levels Shown set to 3 (but don't think that directly relates to the refresh polling issue) Actual Results: Whether docked or floating, I'm seeing a full refresh of the Headings content approx once per second. Updating for heading changes in the document is of course expected, but not the flicker/visible refreshing. NOTE you may have to set focus into the document to start this happening. Expected Results: No refresh redraw flickering Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No OpenGL enabled: Yes Additional Info: KEY TESTING OBSERVATION: If I turn OFF Content Navigation View (one of the panel's own toolbar buttons), I'm no longer able to reproduce this problem. So the workaround if wanting to keep the Navigator panel visible for extended periods of time is to do that. Alternatively, just use it as a "pop up" via F5, use, and close. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
