[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 132622] New: Program freeze when using password protected files and Save AutoRecovery information is enabled

2020-05-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=132622

Bug ID: 132622
Summary: Program freeze when using password protected files and
Save AutoRecovery information is enabled
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.4.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: xtr806...@xtra.co.nz

Description:
This freeze problem was previously reported as bug 127570 but that report
incorrectly described the problem. The issue has now been correctly identified
as involving password protected files and the Save AutoRecovery information
feature being enabled. With Save Autorecovery enabled, when a password
protected file is edited but the edits not saved, AutoRecovery continuously
writes zero byte empty files to the backup folder until the edited file is
saved. After a time, the backup folder becomes full of these zero byte files
and the program freezes. This has been tested with Calc and with Writer
password protected files. The UserProfile has been reset to factory but the
problem is still there. The problem was evident in several previous version of
LibreOffice. However, the problem does NOT occur in Safe Mode.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.In Options Load/Save enable Save AutoRecovery information and set the
interval to 1 minute as a test to save waiting time
2.Create a file and save it with password protection.
3.Edit the file but do not save it.
4.Allow several minutes to pass so the program can start to try to save
Autoreccovery information.
5.Open the specified backup folder and see the zero byte files being created.
This will continue until the file is saved but will start again following any
edits.

Actual Results:
Empty zero byte files are created in an attempt at backup which eventually fill
the backup folder and cause the program to freeze.

Expected Results:
One AutoRecovery file should be created containing usable information. This
should be automatically replaced.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

I *think* I've reproduced this. My system got very slow and non-responsive
(moving the mouse and the cursor won't move), eventually after like 10 minutes
(I pressed Ctrl-Alt-Delete to try to get to the Resource Mannager during this),
LO was gone and my system got responsive again. But I didn't get any
information about crash report even if I made sure I enabled it before started
testing.

I was using 6.4.3 last time and 6.4.4 RC1 this time.

Since I don't have a crash signature to compare with, I'm not marking this as
CONFIRMED yet.

Quick question, is comment 9 still valid?

That is, is LibreOffice still supposed to be compatible with C++03? I don't
know what the minimum C++ version is across the various compilers. Is the C++
version documented somewhere?

I see uses of unique_ptr and unordered_map, so I'm assuming at least C++11. And
C++11 ensures function-local statics are initialized exactly once even if
multiple threads call the function.

Just checking before I make a change.

(In reply to PeeWee from comment #5)
>

> Instruction please.

Peter, am I right that you use LibreOffice on MAC and on Windows? The
"Terminal" is probably specific to Linux. Image
   LinuxLxdeCommandLine.png
shows you where the terminal is found in the Linux/Debian LXDE menu.

When I click "Konsole" I get a Terminal window. In the image
   Soffice61.png
that's the black window in the upper left area of the screen.

If I enter the command
   $ soffice
in the black Terminal window, LibreOffice will start.

You can see a few error messages in the terminal window. In my case that's
   Gdk-WARNING **: 17:18:08.558: gdk_window_set_icon_list: icons too large
In my case that happens when I start LibreOffice 6.1

The Konsole and these error messages are probably Julian's remark:
"Could you try to launch LO from a terminal/console and
see if there are any traces which may provide some hints?"

I also have version 6.4. To start that version, I need to give the command
   $ /opt/libreoffice6.4/program/soffice
In that case LibreOffice 6.4 will start. That's also image
   Soffice64.png
As you can see, I don't get any error messages when starting 6.4

BTW, for those who are helping you, it's often useful if you go to
   Help -> About LibreOffice
and copy most of the text there and paste it in every bug report that you
start. Then we can see which operating system you are using and help you
better. ;-)

I hope this helps!

PS:
- I'm not a developer. I'm a user myself and I submitted a few bug reports. I'm
now trying to confirm the bugs that other people report here.

Anonymous login (I assume it's Jürgen) suggested a translation with semicolons,
and login "Kü" accepted it 5 days ago. So this should be fixed in 6.4.4 and
7.0.0 alhpa1.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 132621] New: Problem launching from document on network drive

2020-05-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=132621

Bug ID: 132621
Summary: Problem launching from document on network drive
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.4.3.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: es...@ieee.org

Description:
I keep my documents on a network. Ordinarily double-cliking a docx file will
open it in LibreOffice (LO not running at the time).

Now, double-clicking the docx says:
\\SERVER\Drive_E\Area51\Mac\Crashes\T2 does not exist.

If I open LO and then open the file it works fine.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open windows explorer
2. Navigate to network drive
3. Double-click a docx file
4. Get the message that the file does not exist

Actual Results:
\\SERVER\Drive_E\Area51\Mac\Crashes\T2 does not exist.

Expected Results:
LO should launch and open the file

Since LO is not running at this point questions about the user profile and
OpenGL seem highly irrelevant

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
[Information automatically included from LibreOffice]
Locale: en-US
Module: StartModule
[Information guessed from browser]
OS: Windows (All)
OS is 64bit: no

Or would the efforts in bug 128200 fix this with all other languages? I'm a
bit out of loop but remember reading on l10n list that all strings there that
are not fixed by translators will be reverted back to English in the near
future.

Looking at Weblate it seems noting has been done in the past month, for example

Is there someone other than Olav that we can contact? Or should we just go
ahead and change all the broken function names mentioned in comment #2 back to
English? It seems Nynorsk is using the English names anyway.

This could be bibisected using repo bibisect-42max, but the results are
puzzling. First, starting from the following commit, the exported DOCX opens in

I assume that we also wanted to know if this problem existed when running
Linux/Debian10.

I used LibreOffice versions 6.0 , 6.3 , 6.4 and 7.0. In all cases I started a
freshly opened document and I could use "paste" (Ctrl-V) or "paste special"
(Shift-Ctrl-V). I could also right-click and select "paste" or "paste-special".
In all cases I had the results that I expected.

I was however unable to test with 6.3.5.2. The closest version that I had
installed and that I could test with was 6.3.4.1.

As an illustration I added image:

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 132620] New: GUI Form Properties:Data:Filter - needs () AND (), not ( AND )

2020-05-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=132620

Bug ID: 132620
Summary: GUI Form Properties:Data:Filter - needs () AND (), not
( AND )
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.4.3.2 release
  Hardware: x86 (IA32)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Base
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: trowelandmatt...@yahoo.co.uk

Using FIREBIRD embedded:(not confirmed with HSQL)

In the GUI Form Properties, Data:Filter tab , when setting a filter in a
subform using the GUI tool, and using more than 1 filter criteria, the output
is show as '(condition1 AND condition2)', i.e. when returning to the main Form
Properties, Data tab.

This returns no data when a Form is opened in normal mode.

The expected filter behavior is restored when the Form Properties, Data:Filter
text box is manually amended to (condition1) AND (condition2)

Either (_AND_) or (_)AND(_) is fine by me, but it would be good if the GUI tool
produced the right result for the filter to function as expected, or at least
some notification for user to check and amend if necessary, for example under
different embedded engines.

Otherwise, as always -
Love You Libre !!!

HI!
It's a great hint!
Although I've installed cups-pdf and exported doc with it .. and opened PDF
without any warnings.. still no avail: it's empty.
However, preview works fine. Physical printer spits out empty page.

I'll dig into cups settings later.

In Word, the little bullet or triangle is not useful for drop-and-drag editing
unless you're in outline view. In outline view, it has that functionality. For
me, as both a magazine journalist and a tech writer in the Silicon Valley,
drop-and-drag editing was an absolute necessity for any tools that I use, which
is why I won't use any program without it.

As the expert on image dimensions/resolution. I'm getting slightly insane
related to image resolution/ screen resolution/ image size

1. Open attachment 160246 [details].
It has a shape in it of 12,25cm x 10,50cm. I exported the shape with Lib 7.0 in
PNG format and imported it again dimensions shown are 12,46 x 10,72 cm (and
borders a cropped, bug)

I exported the same file SVG format in LibO 7. It shows as 12,63 cm x 10,88 cm
(won't open in Irfan View/Corel) but has exactly the same dimensions as the
shape (12,25 x 10,50 cm).

If have also export it as BMP format (attachment 160253 [details] (did it with
LibO 3.0, but difference is 2 pixels). The resolution is embedded (96x96 DPI).
Shows up in LibO as 12,60 x 10,85cm (same as Irfan View) is a little smaller
compared to the 12,25cm x 10,50cm.

If you print to a piece of paper, and if that looks alright too, you could try

Gary: the pb here is only those who have ZoomText can provide extra
information.
Without this, it'll be difficult to help.

2 things you can try before trying to retrieve a backtrace.
First, upgrade to 6.4.3 + follow instructions from
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/FirstSteps
It might help.

V Stuart: just in case, would you know some people who would have ZoomText to
give it a try? (reproduce the bug and if it's the case, retrieve a bt)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 38093] Add an Outline View layout and editing mode to Writer

2020-05-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38093

Good morning Jim Raykowski, V Stuart Foote, and all contributors :) I agree
with both Jim and V Stuart about a more 'visual' indicator on the document
canvas. In addition to the handy Navigator.

The challenge is that the Navigator is very useful for advanced LO users. But
many newcomers or beginners are not yet familiar with this
advanced-blackbelt-ninja-Navigator.

Feel free to choose any design to your liking. The following are just
suggestions for your consideration.

In summary, how about adding small tapable/clickable triangles inside the
document canvas left side margin?

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Below is the same suggestion as above. But with details. Including suggested
mockups and workflow I made to facilitate communications.

How about adding small gray triangles (gray carets) to the LibreOffice Document
canvas left side margin? Those triangles would allow those beginner users to
easily & quickly use the collapse and expand feature within the document
canvas? WIth folding symbols & hover over. Which Jim mentioned in his comment
60 above.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Mockups Triangle Five Suggested States

State 1: Hidden
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=160240

State 2: Expanded gray triangle
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=160241

State 3: Expanded blue triangle
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=160242

State 4: Collapse blue triangle & collapse heading content
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=160243

State 5: Collapse gray triangle
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=160244

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Suggested Workflow

1. User opens a LO Writer .odt document. The number 1 in this mockup shows this
at https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=160240
Assumptions:
• Assumes the triangle is hidden by default. So that the canvas feels and looks
clean and uncluttered.

2. User moves the mouse over the Heading. In other words, a mouse over. In this
example a mouse over the heading titled "Uberschrift 62". A gray triangle is
display within the left side margin of the canvas. The number 1 in this mockup
shows this at https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=160241
Assumptions:
• Assumes the triangle is a light gray. HTML #d9d9d9. So that the triangle is
less visible than the heading and most other items within the canvas area.
• Assumes the triangle is pointing down. Which visually means expanded. Users
are familiar with this visual meaning. Which is the same as the meaning inside
the Navigator. So easier learning curve for users. Which means a more pleasant
user experience.
• Assumes if the user moves the mouse away from the heading "Uberschrift 62",
the triangle is automatically hidden. So that the canvas area looks and feel
uncluttered.

3. User moves the mouse over the triangle, the triangle shift color from gray
to blue HTML #3daeea. The number 3 in this mockup shows this at
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=160242
Assumptions:
• Assumes this blue color is the same blue as a selected heading row within the
Navigator window
• Assumes the blue color visually communicate to the user that this item is
clickable
• Assumes if the user moves the mouse away from the triangle, the triangle
color shift from blue to gray

4. User left clicks on the blue triangle. The triangle shift from pointing down
to pointing right. The number 4 in this mockup shows this at
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=160243
At the same time, the heading collapse. In other words the heading content is
hidden. The number 5 in this mockup shows this at
https://https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=160243
Assumptions:
• Assumes the triangle is pointing right. Which visually means collapsed. Same
meaning as the other triangles in the Navigator.
• Assumes within the Navigator, the associated heading and its sub-heading(s),
if any, would automatically collapse. In other words, to collapse an heading,
the user could either left click on the blue triangle inside the canvas, or
right click on the heading inside the Navigator. Then navigate the menu to
"Expand/Collapse ---> Collapse Heading".
• Assumes if the heading has sub-heading(s), and the user clicks on the top
heading, then all associated sub-heading(s) are automatically collapsed. So
that it's easy and quick to collapse or expand multiple headings within a large
Writer document. In other words, this collapse & expand feature is able to
scale up. For example, if the user collapses this "Heading 1" below, then the
associated sub-headings ranging from "Sub-heading 1.1" to "Sub-heading 1.200"
are automatically both collapsed and hidden. Only the "Heading 1" remain
display with a permanently display gray arrow. Which is pointing right.

 Sub-heading

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 76986] Provide context menu inside the area (rows, columns) where an Outline is set, with outline functions

> Outline area

Yes - it doesn't make (much) sense to add a context menu there, since you can
just click on the symbols.
What I thought of (but didn't tell :) ) is
- when an outline is uncollapsed:
the range of rows or columns in the outline
- when an outline is collapsed:
the two rows or columns on either side of the outline

> So you mean this area, but what contextual functions should be presented
> there?

Add in that area, enrich the context menu with
  Outline > Hide Details
Show Details

Now I get closer to the result that you have.

If I use version 6.4.3.2, the top and left edge are the same as the bottom and
right edge, but ... entirely on top I have a transparent edge of one pixel
high, and entirely at the left there's a transparent edge of one pixel wide.

When I use 7.0 it crashes, but that's what alpha versions are for, to test them
before they're released. ;-) (FUN, now I have a bug to report myself. :-D )
When I restart 7.0, I follow the same steps and I get the same result as with
6.4.3.2.

To compare the results yourself, please check attachments
   "Test-InGimp.png" (your exported image)
and
   "PixelsOnTheRightAndBottom-inGimp.png" (my exported image)

You are using 6.4.2.2 and if you think that the result that I had is better,
then give it a thought to upgrade to 6.4.3.2. (But that's up to you.)

PS: Gimp compares to Photoshop. I actually like it better than Photoshop. It's

LibreOffice 6.1 not doing well either; no crash, but empty dialogs/ not
responding
Also bit reluctant increasing priority. I can't tell how often it in reality
crashes...

You're/ Im allowed to set it too high, critical based on the flow chart
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/File:Prioritizing_Bugs_Flowchart.jpg

A downgrade is always possible', so lets try it for the difference.

Note 1: there are quite a number of crash bugs with 'medium/normal'; some
corner cases and some which should have more urgency, IMHO
Note 2: I'm the bugtracker spam bot (once in a while); filling the bug tracker
with more (unconfirmed) bugs.

I work every day with Writer and Calc in my office. So when I need a file
recently closed, no matter what kind it is I could find very easy from recent
documents. I consider it is ok like it is now.

One solution to close this bug could be in Options to have a checkbox with
"Recently documents by module". So, who wants this option could be happy
checking that checkbox. For the rest, this checkbox will be not checked.

Insert-> Header and footer
Click after text on "Sheet1" in center area
Press arrow key down -> Crash of document

It only happens if I choose e.g., Katakana as input method, not e.g., Norwegian

Not present in LO 3.3, and this is a regression since 6.2.8 according to
comment #2

As this is a regression and a crash, setting priority to highest critical

Bug ID: 132617
   Summary: endless auto-save without saving
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.4.3.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Draw
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: noel.bou...@usherbrooke.ca

When making a copy of a draw sheet an updating the information and saving the
copy with a new name and doing the same process many times, it seems that the
draw program retains in the last copy all the modifications done in the
previous ones and overloads! The program enters in an endless auto-save mode
and it does not response to any command. I have to shut off my computer and
open it again. I do not found any command in Draw that permits to erase the
historic of olders versions of my current one.

Are you able to share the files that you encounter these issues with? That can
make it easier to replicate, as I'm not sure that many have files with macros
laying around

6.3 is still supported (6.3.6 is now out), but there is also a version 6.4.3
that you could try: https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download/

Long shot, but I see you're on Catalina that has some issues: Does the problem
go away if you grant LO Full Disk Access? You can access that in System
