[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 111070] Saving file with a different LO-recognized file extension does not add correct extension

2020-06-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=111070

(In reply to Yousuf Philips (jay) (retired) from comment #6)
> I would think it would be a bad thing to do this, as extensions on windows
> are hidden by default and users would only see 'abcd.doc' and assume it was
> a '.doc' file.

This is comparing current situation (when user saves "file.doc", gets
"file.doc", sees it as "file", and in fact it's ODT) with saving "file.doc",
getting "file.doc.odt", seeing "file.doc", which in fact is ODT. Personally I
don't see a single drawback of the proposal *compared to the current
situation*. The concern expressed in comment 6 was a kind of generic "we see
one extension, but that's the other one", but without considering what the
current situation is.

> Instead it should replace the extension and be 'abcd.odf', if
> we agree that filetype selection should overwrite what users type or select
> as the filename.

I second Aron's concerns from comment 7, and I would hate to see LibreOffice
not allowing me to have what I typed in the file name.

There are several help pages dedicated to the styles in Writer [1] [2]
describing which types of styles are there, how they are applied, etc.

However, there's no help entry like that for Calc. There are applied sections
like "Applying Conditional Formatting" [3] or "Assigning Formats by Formula"
[4], but nothing to read about cell/page styles in general, when there's no
conditional formatting involved. We need such help pages also in Calc
(preferably with some general discussion about style usage).

Good news!

Per comment 2, I downloaded version 6.4.4.2.

That works fine. This bug must've been fixed. Marking as fixed.

Before I tried latest version, I tried all the other things suggested. For
posterity, I post the answer I already wrote:

re #1:
I sent Mike Kaganski the spreadsheet.

> But maybe you could try replacing all characters in your
> file with some single character (or two), to make it anonymized
I can't do this because find-and-replace crashes in the same manner that find
does.

re #2:

> 1) Do you have any accessibility features enabled?
Not as far as I know. I checked he accessibility features in system features
and everything looks set to be the default (usually disabled, else the default
value). I'm not aware of using any of such features.

That said, this machine is machined by the company I work at, so it's possible
they have something installed on it that I'm not aware of.

> 2) Do you have installed any window management/user interface
> utilities/apps/control panels/extensions for Mac OS X like
> ...
No, I don't have anything on that list. The only thing in that flavor
I have installed is an app called "Watch". I tried disabling that.
It didn't help.

> And/or do you use any mouse cursor/pointer utility, i.e. some
> little application or control panel etc. which animates or replaces

Not as far as I know.

> And/or do you use any special software which could be related to
> accessibility stuff, e.g. a screen reader, screen magnifier, speech
> recognition software, a text-to-speech (dictation) application, or

Not as far as I know.

> If you still reproduce this, would it be possible you attach a
> backtrace/stacktrace ? (see
> https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/BugReport/Debug_Information#macOS:_How_to_get_debug_information)

I don't see how. When the app crashes, I get a screen
window title: LibreOffice 6.3 Document Recovery
Due to an error, LibreOffice crashed. All the files you were working on will
now be saved. The next time LibreOffice is launched, your files will be
recovered automatically. The following files will be recovered: ...

In other words, this crash doesn't result in the crash message "LibreOffice
quit unexpectedly.” / report to Apple. I'm not sure why. (Do you have
different possible ways of handling crashes?) Give nthat I don't see the
"report to Apple" screen, I don't know how to get a stack trace.

I will note that I wouldn't be surprised if, for confidentially reasons, my
company has disabled the "report to Apple" functionality on this machine.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 134373] New: Tools > Refresh > (submenu items) are taken out of context in alternative toolbar modes such as grouped compact

2020-06-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=134373

Bug ID: 134373
Summary: Tools > Refresh > (submenu items) are taken out of
context in alternative toolbar modes such as grouped
compact
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: nekoh...@gmail.com

Description:
See below

Steps to Reproduce:
In the normal toolbar mode, go in the "Tools > Refresh" menu, and look at the
submenu items. You have "Refresh all", "Page format", "Fields", "Index and
tables", etc.

Actual Results:
When you use a different toolbar mode without the menubar, such as "grouped bar
compact" (or others), those options are deported to the "References" section,
and while you have the "Refresh all" button or menu item, if you look at the
rest, they are listed as-is without a change in their strings and without being
inside a submenu, and therefore you lose the context because there is no
verb/action near the word. It's just "Index and tables" for example, instead of
"Refresh index and tables", so it's impossible to know what that menu item (or
button) does unless you know what submenu it was ripped from in the traditional
menu-based UI.

Expected Results:
Those action names should have different strings if they are presented in a UI
without being inside a "Refresh" submenu, i.e. "Refresh index and tables" for
example.

Reproducible: Always

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 35033] Allow inline graphics, formulas in impress (and draw)

2020-06-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35033

It is unbelievable that this issue still persists in 2020. It is a major
feature that prevents many users from adopting Impress.

I teach mathematical programming and I simply cannot prepare my classes using
Impress, because I often have to mix text and mathematical notation in the same
sentence.

The funny thing is that in Writer it is possible to deal with this problem,
since one can add mathematical formulas "inline", i.e. along with the text.

Wouldn't it be easier to allow users to add a "Writer" text object into the
presentation?

Just put this in a macro:

buttons(0).first = "Close doc"
buttons(0).second = ".uno:CloseDoc"
buttons(1).first = "Paste into doc"
buttons(1).second = ".uno:Paste"
ThisComponent.getCurrentController().appendInfobar("my", "Hello world",
"Things happened. What now?", com.sun.star.frame.InfobarType.INFO, buttons,
false)
End Sub

This allows creating, updating and removing infobars from macros/extensions.

It also extends the infobar with a primary and a secondary text, so there can
be a bold summary at the beginning at the infobar with a longer text following

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 134368] New: Dialog to edit Conditional Formatting does not preset current conditions

2020-06-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=134368

Bug ID: 134368
Summary: Dialog to edit Conditional Formatting does not preset
current conditions
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.3.6.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: program...@bardware.de

Description:
In my spreadsheet there's a column that computes a sum from figures from other
worksheets. I use conditional formatting to mark whether the values are larger
than one.
I added a few rows and want to add the conditional formatting to the new rows.
I select cells to which the conditional formatting is applied to, click with
the second mouse button and select "Conditional Formatting" from the context
menu. I'm told there are existing rules and confirm that I want to modifiy
these. The dialog to edit the conditions is shown, however, I don't recognize
my rules. Some default rules are shown.
When I select Conditional Formatting from the top menu, however, The dialog to
edit the conditions is correctly populated with all the existing conditons.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Add conditional formatting to a bunch of cells in one row
2. Right click one of theses cells to edit the range to which the formatting
should apply

Actual Results:
The dialog to edit the conditions is not prepopulated with the existing
conditions

Expected Results:
The dialog should show the existing conditions.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Works well when menu to edit conditional formattings is opened via top menu.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 134367] New: CALC new formulas: Written down value & written down depreciation

2020-06-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=134367

Bug ID: 134367
Summary: CALC new formulas: Written down value & written down
depreciation
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.4.4.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: testing1237...@yahoo.com

Created attachment 162481
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=162481=edit
calculation sheet for the proposed formula

I have an idea about a new financial formula which i am not sure why no one has
implemented yet, maybe it is in the pipeline but i am putting this out.
Libreoffice currently has a variety of depreciation formulae, db, ddb,
amordegrc, amorlinc, sln, syd, vdb and there may be more but i have been unable
to find a suitable formulae that gives me the depreciation amount as needed.
One of the accepted methods of calculating depreciation is on "reducing balance
method" whereby, for the sake of simplicity and replicability, a predefined
rate of depreciation is given. Say, building is to be depreciated at 10% WDV or
written down value. Basically, an asset is taken at cost value and a rate of
depreciation is reduced from this value during the year and the closing balance
for that year becomes opening balance of next year and the rate of
depreciation is applied on that new opening balance and so on until either the
asset is scrapped or its value is reduced to zero, in which case, the asset is
said to be fully written off.
For example, i have set the cost of asset at 100,000 and applied a depreciation
rate of 60% over the lifetime of the asset. As you can see, each line
represents one year and opening balance of first year is reduced by 60% and
that closing balance becomes opening of next year.

I propose that we have a formula, WDV (cost, rate of depreciation, period of
calculation).

Also, a second WDVD formula to find the depreciation value for a given year
WDVD (cost, rate of depreciation, period of calculation).

Calculations are assumed to be at the end of period because that is the norm.

i have attached a sheet explaining with simple case values the need for this
formula, if i wanted to find written down value of an asset, say 3 years in a
line, i have to make a chart plotting each year and then going at it one by
one. These formulas would be immensely helpful for users working with financial
statements, etc.

For comparison, https://www.wallstreetmojo.com/written-down-value-method/
this is a link to a blogpost explaining how to calulate this WDV in excel. Note
that it is to be calculated on a per year basis and you cannot just jump to
year 7 in the example of the blog. you must calculate the values one after the
other.

This formulae is different from existing depreciation functions because they
all assume the user knows about the useful life of the asset. Here, all you
need is rate of depreciation. Also, when i mentioned "cost" in the formula, it
is assumed to be "cost-residual value" as is the norm so it need not be
mentioned again in the formula.

This is mostly used for finance/ taxation purposes where a standard
depreciation rate is given by the revenue departments to keep people from
charging all the value of asset to profits, in hopes of reducing the tax
liability.

this feature needs to be implemented. i would add, how about allowing a
protected cell to overflow with a setting so that it does not cause the
X which then requires to type in the password, resize the column and
save it again.

file with 1048577 rows

When 'Very large spreadsheets' experimental feature is turned on, importing
more than 1048576 rows will crash. 1048576 rows is the previous limit.

1. Turn experimetal features on
2. Turn Very large spreadsheets on
3. Import the attached .csv file with 1048577 rows

this results in a crash with the following message

multi_type_vector::set#483: block position not found! (logical pos=1048576,
block size=1, logical size=1048576)

The same file with 1048576 rows imports perfectly (tail -n +2 lines1048577.csv)

I found an updated 7.0 Beta 2 Build and the blurry Thumbnail is no issue there
:)

So:

## Blurry ##
Version: 7.0.0.0.beta2 (x64)
Build ID: 1c213561a365b5666167321de68c9977500c9612
CPU-Threads: 12; BS: Windows 10.0 Build 17763; UI-Render: Skia/Vulkan; VCL:

## No more Blur ##
Version: 7.0.0.0.beta2+ (x64)
Build ID: 9303060ea34bec4a13bfac0562e821b7bd144b65
CPU-Threads: 12; BS: Windows 10.0 Build 17763; UI-Render: Skia/Vulkan; VCL:

I guess this will not be an issue anymore in next Beta or RC build :)

I can confirm that the bug does NOT exist in 7.1.0 Alpha.
But its definitely in 7.0 Beta 2.

Is there a more recent Build of 7.0 series to retest if the bug is already gone
there too?
