Now I cannot reproduce this success case.
Now, drag-selecting the paste range B:Y and ctrl+V into that will also fail to
paste anything as well, reproducitibility 100% (5/5 times in 2 files).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 134675] New: [EDITING] Whole column cannot be pasted to a column range over 23 selected by shift-click

2020-07-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=134675

Bug ID: 134675
Summary: [EDITING] Whole column cannot be pasted to a column
range over 23 selected by shift-click
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.4.4.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: pox_...@yahoo.com

Created attachment 162825
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=162825=edit
FailToPasteColumnBugB1.ods test data

Reproduction procedure:
test1
FailToPasteColumnBugB1.ods
1. select column A by clicking column header "A"
2. ctrl+C to copy
by this, whole column A will be blue
3. click column header B
by this, whole column B will be blue
4. shift+click column Y
by this, whole columns B:Y will be blue
5. ctrl+V to paste
   -> result: problem: nothing pasted

test2
1. re-open file. repeat test1.1-3
4. now shift+click column X
by this, whole columns B:X will be blue
-> result: correctly pasted. content of column A repeatedly filled into each
column of B:X

Reproducibility: 100% at any file.
Don't even need to re-open file. Can retry procedure by Undo (ctrl+Z).

Notes:
* copy-pasting rows has no such problem, at least for 100 rows.
* copy-pasting individual cells or a finite range of cells have no such
problem.
* Excel2000 does correctly paste, at least over 100 columns (tested with range
B:EZ).
* When you drag-selecting the paste range, the paste works correctly for a
broader range.
But I need chift-click style range selection when I want to paste into say
500 columns,
because drag-selecting a range of 500 columns is too cumbersome and prone of
mis-operation.

The most puzzling (worrying) thing is the rationale behind this magic number.
Why 23?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 134674] New: Crash: Impress - Insert Animated Image - Doubleclick on 'Create' - 3 type of crashs [Regression]

2020-07-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=134674

Bug ID: 134674
Summary: Crash: Impress - Insert Animated Image - Doubleclick
on 'Create' - 3 type of crashs [Regression]
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.1 all versions
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: bugzilla@mkr.email

Description:
In Impress I get a crash when I choose an object, open the window "Animation"
(via "Insert Animated Image"), click on the icon "Apply Object", click twice
on "Create" and close the window.

It crashes always, but I can't see a pattern, which kind of crash happens. It's
either:
a) Impress crashes without Document Recovery window. You don't get a "Send
Crash Report" window at a restart of LO.
b) Impress crashes and freezes the Document Recovery window. After that the
process soffice.bin has to be killed with the Task Manager. (If you restart LO
after that, you get a "Send Crash Report" window!)
c) Impress "thinks" it crashed - that means, it does not crash instantly after
closing "Animation" window. But if you close Impress with(out) saving, Impress
opens the "Document Recovery" window - which is empty of couse if you have not
saved - and restarts LO. (No "Send Crash Report" window)

A crash report from a c) crash:

crashreport.libreoffice.org/stats/crash_details/e950ca0b-9831-457c-b831-d2f83d203087

I attach short screencasts of the issues.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start Impress
2. Choose object (like "Click to add Title" textbox) or create one first (like
a rectangle)
3. Open "Animation" window (Insert Animated Image)
4. Click on "Apply Object" icon (on the left below "Image:")
5. Click twice on "Create"
6. Close "Animation" window
Either you get the crash, that I described as a) and b)
or go on and
7. Close Impress with(out) saving
and get crash c)

Actual Results:
Impress crashes either at closing "Animation" window or at closing Impress
with(out) saving

Expected Results:
Impress crashs not.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:

provoke them with 6.0.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 134672] New: text formatting issue, LO not reading Word correctly

2020-07-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=134672

Bug ID: 134672
Summary: text formatting issue, LO not reading Word correctly
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.4.0.0.alpha1+
  Hardware: All
OS: Mac OS X (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: thewritingfor...@gmail.com

Description:
Dear Libre Office,

I am having a text formatting issue that seems to be in Libre Office 6.4.4.2
and wondering if you could help.

When LO is reading a Word document, square characters are appearing where a
line break should be. However, this is inconsistent, as the squares only appear
sometimes, not at all line breaks. And it's only appearing when the doc is
opened again in Word after being saved in LO. The only clue we have is that it
is only happening when letters have been written vertically on the page (a
vertical poem, see below) in a Word doc.

Please let me know if you have any idea what is happening! I'd be happy to send
you the documents in question.

Sincerely,
Rose Michel
New Zealand

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Word doc is opened in LO
2.LO does not see any strange square marks and the doc is saved in LO.
3.When the doc is opened again in Word, square marks appear (which seem to be
invisible characters for line breaks - but it's inconsistent, not all line
breaks are indicated by squares

Actual Results:
Square formatting marks appear

Expected Results:
Formatting marks should not appear

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
This issue is only happening with vertical texts centred on the page:

Dear Telesto,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:

ToC Style in Styles.xml

In earlier days OOo has had columns in paragraph templates. Now we have columns
in sections. But there is no access to a section's design so that I could
assign it to an other section.
Currently I have a hundred xhtml files that need to be formatted for umpteen
pages each, containing sections that should be multi column and others that
shouldn't.

By now a section's styling information is in office:automatic-styles within
content.xml It would be best if it were handled as per sample of paragraph
styles. I fail to see why style:family="section" shouldn't appear in
office:styles/style:style but in office:automatic-styles/style:style only. So
there's no need to change odt format for this.

Current version will just ignore section styling in Styles.xml as you can see
in attached tInStyles.odt

Same section styling in office:automatic-styles is regarded with minor
problems.

OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Draw
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: m...@kai-mast.de

Description:
Hi all,

I used to be able to export all of my ODG files without problems to EPS.
However, recently I noticed that files with rotated text do not export anymore.

More concretely, libreoffice gets stuck using 100% cpu and creates a *.tmp file
of multiple GB(!) size.

This might be an issue with my local install as it used to work just fine and
suddenly stopped. I updated to the new RC and got the same issue.

I am attaching a test file to this bug. Exporting to PDF like so works
`libreoffice7.0 --headless --convert-to pdf ./eps_test.odg`
But this does not
`libreoffice7.0 --headless --convert-to eps ./eps_test.odg`

Thanks,
Kai

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run the command `libreoffice7.0 --headless --convert-to pdf ./eps_test.odg`

Actual Results:
Libreoffice freezes / hogs CPU.

Expected Results:
EPS gets exported.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 134486] UI: Branding: LibreOffice Personal edition

2020-07-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=134486

(In reply to Timur from comment #36)
> Much was said by TDF members and users and I think that consensus was
> reached.
> Shall this disastrous, LO anniversary ruining move be reverted?

That's the easy part. However it doesn't solve the fundamental underlying
problem. This didn't come out of nowhere, it's lingering around quite some time
now. LibreOffice being freely available for everyone, but mostly made possible
by - code contributions - of a (few) eco-system partners. With the intention of
making money by selling services. Their 'product' is currently limited to
services, as the code public and 'LibreOffice' being the brand.

However, the interest in these services is as good as absent.
Enterprises/business are using LibreOffice without contributing money and/or
code. Reasons enough. They don't care, they don't have to.

>From the perspective of eco-system partners 'free rider' as the assumed they
could make some money of it. Especially in Enterprise environments. So their
business model isn't working

The "Personal edition" is 'intended' to 'cajole' company's into pay for
Enterprise edition or something like that.

It's a conflict between ideals and reality. The eco-system partner are giving
the code away for free, without the (expected) returns. This can't go on for
ever. Money needs to be generated by the eco-system partners (and/or TDF) to
keep LibreOffice afloat/alive. LibreOffice is lost without the eco-system
partners contributing (or in another model TDF hiring eco-system partners or
TDF hiring a number of developers). However, if TDF increases spending to pay
the bills of people involved professionally.. how does TDF generate that kind
of money? Donations are unreliable, I assume.

So the key question seems to be: how can LibreOffice be monetized, while
respecting the ideals.

A good read:

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 134665] New: Miscalculation of size of a shape/object in Animation : Emphasis - Grow and Shrink

2020-07-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=134665

Bug ID: 134665
Summary: Miscalculation of size of a shape/object in Animation
: Emphasis - Grow and Shrink
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.4.2.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: niharikatravel...@tutanota.com

Description:
when we draw any shape object like rectangle or circle and animate it using
"Grow and Shrink" effect of Emphasis category, impress seems to miscalculate
the resulting size of the shape.
it can be easily observed by choosing animate size 101%.
I believe the shape should grow 1% to become 101% of its original size, but it
grows 101% to become 201% of its original size.

It is a miscalculation because when we animate the shape size 90% (enter the
size value 90%), the shape reduces to 90% of its original size by reducing its
size by 10%.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Add any Object (rectangle or circle)
2. Choose Animation Category : Emphasis - Effect : Grow and Shrink
3. Choose a value 101%

Actual Results:
object size grows to 201% (increase in 101%)

Expected Results:
object size should grow to 101% (should increase only 1%)

Reproducible: Always

I'm not sure if LO is responsible or if it is an Nvidia issue, but I figured
I'd report it here because the problem didn't exist in the previous LO version.

When using Shia in software mode the issue does not happen, neither does it
happen when Shia is disabled completely.

How is that? In comment 2 you said that the UI changes outlined in the blog
post should solve the problem. And Bug 105933 is where the implementation of
this UI is tracked.

> The main point is about applying style to only odd or even rows.
Of course. It's a feature of a table style ("AutoFormat") that you can define
different formatting for odd and even rows. Did you actually try to follow the
steps I gave? If the sample table has different formatting for odd and even
rows, then any table that has the resulting style applied, will have this too.
And it will kept consistent when adding/removing rows. Otherwise I just don't
understand what you mean.

(And by the way, please don't change your own bugs to NEW. Someone else needs
to confirm them first.)

Hi Michael, not subscribed ;-)

But which thread? Seems every new post to the ML spins off another thread. At
least with BZ can keep things organized pruned and cross refrenced--with ML
notification; and has the benefit of concise self archiving.

Why table styles should use a different sharing workflow than other kinds of

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 134662] New: spell checker should deny cap on some lower-case words

2020-07-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=134662

Bug ID: 134662
Summary: spell checker should deny cap on some lower-case words
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.4.4.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: nick_levin...@yahoo.com

Description:
A word may be correct only if always lower-case. Spell-checking permits words
to get capital initials at beginnings of sentences. This capitalization should
be suppressible for particular words, such as some computer commands for Unix,
Linux, and BSD.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Check that your LO spelling checker's user-defined dictionary does not
include the following: dd
2. In a Writer document, type the following: Dd dd
3. Run spell-check (F7).

Actual Results:
This passes the spell-check.

Expected Results:
Since the term is correct only for all lower-case because using any other case
when entering the command in a command-line interface (especially with older
distributions of Linux), "Dd" should be rejected as a misspelling even though
it's at the beginning of the sentence.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
For a few words, only the literal entry in the custom dictionary would be
approved in a document.

The suppression should be available for words in the main dictionary as well as
in custom dictionaries. Suppression even in the main dictionary would be by the
user's choice.

While I use a Linux distro for which the CLI tentatively recognizes the initial
capital for a Linux command (it suggests proceeding with the lower-case
alternative), arguments and options are often case-sensitve to the point of
assigning different meanings for different cases, and for that situation spell
checker suppression would help with Writer.

The UserProfile doesn't seem to be available for resetting.

OpenGL doesn't seem to be available for enabling.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 88793] EDITING, subtotals don't apply formatting

2020-07-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=88793

I can confirm this issue is present in 6.0.6

If you create the missing Result style BEFORE you insert subtotals, it works.

Here's a different simple way to demonstrate.

Step One
Create any table of random stuff. e.g.

| Title | Head 1 | Head 2 |
| A | 1 | 2 |
| A | 1 | 2 |
| B | 1 | 2 |
| B | 1 | 2 |
| C | 1 | 2 |
| C | 1 | 2 |

Step Two
Format → Spreadsheet Theme
Pick any of them, like say Autumn Leaves

Step Three
Data → Subtotals
Group By Title, Sum Head 1 and Head 2

Observe the formatting on the 'Result' lines - it will have a grey background.

Now, open a new spreadsheet and do Step One, then Step *Three*, then Step *Two*

See how the Result lines don't have any formatting this time?

Alternatively, you can create a new style called 'Result', and as long as you
do that BEFORE you insert subtotals, it works as expected

WORKAROUND
As a workaround, I created a blank spreadsheet, and in that spreadsheet created
a style called 'Result' that had the formatting I wanted.

I then saved that spreadsheet as an .odt, and chose that spreadsheet as my
default template. (see
https://documentation.libreoffice.org/assets/Uploads/Documentation/en/GS5.2/HTML/GS5203-StylesAndTemplates.html#__RefHeading__7025_1080284074)

This isn't accurate. While there is indeed no UI for editing table styles, you
can create a sample 4x4 table, format it like you want, select all its cells,
and then use the "New style from selection" action from the styles sidebar
panel to create a style based on the given design.

Anyway, as you're mostly asking for a UI, I think this is a duplicate of Bug
105933 which tracks this problem.
