Dear Robert,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:

Dear Yousuf Philips (jay) (retired),

4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,
QA Team

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 137145] New: Use Unicode symbols instead of ASCII in translatable strings

2020-09-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=137145

Bug ID: 137145
Summary: Use Unicode symbols instead of ASCII in translatable
strings
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: Inherited From OOo
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: UI
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: fit...@ubuntu.com

Replace characters like “:” for ratios with U+2236 (∶), x’s for real
multiplication signs (×), hyphens for minus signs (−), and substitute straight
apostrophes and quotation marks with “ and ”, per
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Design/Guidelines/UIWriting#Typography

It’d be awesome to have checks in place to avoid reintroducing ASCII in
translatable strings, like Mozilla has.

FWIW: I propose that TDF runs a tinderbox to keep the Windows ARM64 and also
the cross-build in a working shape. Otherwise it's quite likely, that it's
basically not utilized and will deteriorate to the state before my patches. A
Gerrit build would IMHO be overkill.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 137144] New: some toolbar font size fractions wrong

2020-09-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=137144

Bug ID: 137144
Summary: some toolbar font size fractions wrong
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.4.6.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: nick_levin...@yahoo.com

Description:
The toolbar control for font size when used for decimal fractions apparently
applies all tenths to the document content with Select All but shows a value
for only some tenths, while the dialog shows the correct tenth.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a Writer .odt document that is all in one font and one font size and is
long enough that the bottom of a page's content is almost at the bottom of the
page. Shorter content may not show the effect.
2. Select All.
3. Go to the bottom of the content.
4. Use the toolbar control for the font size. I did this when the font size was
11.3 pt. I changed it to 11.4. The bottom moved down but the control resumed
showing 11.3. I changed it to 11.5. The bottom went down and the control said
11.5. I changed the control to 11.4. The bottom went up and the control said
11.3. I changed the control from 11.3 to 11.3, by retyping it in the control.
The bottom went up a little more and the control said 11.3. I changed the
control to 11.4. The bottom went down but the control said 11.3.
5. Go to the dialog at Format > Character > Font > Size to see the size that is
currently in effect.

Actual Results:
As stated in STR 4 and 5.

Expected Results:
The toolbar font size control would state the font size that is currently in
effect. The dialog is apparently correct, so the toolbar should conform to the
dialog.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Per About: "Version: 6.4.6.2"/"Build ID: 6.4.6.2-2.fc32"/"CPU threads: 2; OS:
Linux 5.8; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3; "/"Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8);
UI-Language: en-US"/"Calc: threaded".

When the toolbar value fraction is set to a fraction that the toolbar will not
show, it is possible that it does show the fraction very briefly before it
changes to show a different fraction.

Fractions smaller than tenths were not tested. A quarter point would be
expressed with a fraction less than a tenth.

Through multiple LO versions, I have seen that some fractional values appeared
to snap to adjacent fractional values, but I didn't try to observe movement at
the bottom or compare the dialog.

Linux os/DE VCL backends already provide the request--just not for Windows

The user interface would come from the WDM which unlike UWP has limited support
for theming--hence no support currently for Windows 10 "darkmode".

Setting this dupe of bug 118320 as the mishandling of High Contrast bug 98032
is a different facet of the theme being passed from Windows os/DE.

LibreOffice running on Windows ARM64 in aarch64 QEMU on Linux.

Currently the cross compilation at least starts. It even generates an install
package, which I didn't yet test. Implementing a working UNO bridge took not as
much time as I anticipated - all the cross-build fixes took much more...

Not talking about libvirt / QEMU fixes still needed.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 135836] UI: Discourage usage of the to page anchor by hiding it from toolbar/context menu

Here is the existing LO help I can find about "To Page" in Writer's Guide 6.0

To Page
The graphic keeps the same position in relation to the page margins. It does
not move as you add or delete text or other images. This method is useful when
the graphic does not need to be visually associated with a particular piece of
text. It is often used when producing newsletters or other documents that are
very layout intensive, or for placing logos in letterheads.

(plus a warning about not using "to page" with master documents)

And online help:

https://help.libreoffice.org/7.1/en-US/text/swriter/guide/anchor_object.html

If more help (or warning) information would be appropriate/useful, then
concrete suggestions for what to add are welcome, possibly as separate bug
report.

For clarification:
Q1) Is the fix already verified as working in 7.1 master?
Q2) If yes to Q1, the fix coming to the 7.0 branch?
Q3) If no to Q2, when can we expect the first release of 7.1?

As you can tell, I'm quite anxious for the fix. This abominable bug has been
plaguing me even more frequently as of late.

If that was the intention, then this patch "removes" the "To page" option for
images and shapes in the just-named context menus.
https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/103648

>(In reply to Telesto from comment #3)
> The context menu can be customized and the 'to page' re-added if people
> desire it.
Not with this patch. As best I can tell, cannot "hide" this option so that it
can be customized back.

Furthermore, if the objective is "only accessible from Image Properties dialog"
then what about "Shapes", which will also lose the "To Page" in its context
menu? For Shapes, one would then need to use "Position and Size" (to set "to
page" anchor) (because no Properties dialog). (not objecting, just informing,
in case it has consequences.)

Doesn't crash on this master build like the reporter suggests, which suggests
either the crash is partially due to operating system or has been patched out.

I am running LibreOffice Version: 6.4.6.2 Build ID: 1:6.4.6-0ubuntu0.20.04.1

With GNOME Desktop Environment Universal Access accessibility Large Print set
to on I cannot see fully the print window especially the bottom 3 buttons.
Seee attachment1.

However, if I switch the GNOME Desktop Environment Universal Access
accessibility Large Print to off, I can see the buttons.
See attachment 2.

I have LOW VISION so must have Large Print on but it is becoming really
irritating to keep togling the Large Print on and off.

A vertical scrollbar would resolve the problem. Is it the same in 7.0? Would
it be a good idea to just add the LibreOffice ppa and install 7.0?

1. Insert shape or textbox.
2. Right-click, choose "Position and Size"
3. Press help button in Position and Size tab.

Actual Result: Goes to Type page for Format Image (and Frame)
https://help.libreoffice.org/7.1/en-US/text/swriter/01/05060100.html

Expected: Should go to:
https://help.libreoffice.org/7.1/en-US/text/shared/01/05230100.html

Also the expected page (05230100) needs to be updated, so that content of help
page matches controls on the current Position and Size dialog tab.

Well, the request in the other report was super close to your image sketch:
"Expected Results:
I expect the (none-)page area to be black, the text to be yellow, page borders
to be white (with high-contrast-#1 theme)."

The usefulness of this separate report should be evaluated by the UX team.
