Probably no. bug 51733 is about providing more PNG scales, while this bug is
about the rendering process. Obviously the rasterisation step is done in the
wrong scaling.

It's ok that your marked this as a dup because it's probably the same
underlying issue, but maybe the original one should be reformulated as not to
seem as MacOS specific as it seems now. Besides, the fact that SVG icons render
just fine with Qt backend may be pointing in a different direction than
providing higher resolution icons. There should be a reason why the GTK backed
is doing such a poor job with SVG. Just saying.

This sounds like a CSS problem.

May I recommend that you make the dialog a little more intelligent. If the
screen with allows, open everything. If it's doesn't allow minimize. And then
allow the user to determine what options they want PINNED open.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 138420] Visio drawing dimension lines incorrectly read by LibreOffice Draw

I see these comments from frob_tea still haven't made it into the bug, so
dumping the relevant IRC lines from the QA channel from 01-28 here:

anybody interested to add a comment to #138420 on my behalf?
buovjaga: I'm not an original reporter, no.. though I do have some
knowledge on VSD format ;)
buovjaga: it looks like original VSD has 'shapes' for those
dimension lines which supposed to by stroked with arrows at the ends
buovjaga: and on a surface what libvisio is doing looks sort of
correct
buovjaga: I think the problem is that we didn't expect something
fancy from stencil and 'scratch' (most likely) elements
buovjaga: anyway, to move forward with that we need to identify how
Visio is doing it. for that somebody with access to Visio will need to analyze
ShapeSheets
buovjaga: I didn't find anything interesting in the file which
wouldn't be understood by libvisio in general; so it's on the higher 'logical'
level of interpretation

The report is not stating essential information: this happens with scaling
factors > 1. And it has been happening for years. And it's even worst for SVG
icons. And it doesn't happen with the Qt backend.

Is there anything you need me to do to verify the file integrity?

I can confirm the image source was a "screengrab" pasted to Irfanview then
cropped before insertion into the sheet.
Also, but probably not too significant, I use two monitors on this PC together
with "Mouse without Borders" to control two more PCs each having only one
attached monitor. MwB is not always active but as you've proven - the error
occurs regardless of my configuration.
I can't verify whether the setup may have been active at the time the image was
copied, thereby introducing a file error that persists across PCs
Also, I confirm that having stripped the image from the original sheet it has
never malfunctioned since.

Dear sworddragon2,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

2021-02-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61350

Dear josiasmat,

4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';

Warm Regards,
QA Team

It seems to be a kind of refresh problem. Open toolbar "Form Control" and
switch to design mode. Right-click the hyperlink-button and select item
"Control Properties". On tab "General" scroll down till item "Graphics". Open
its drop-down list and close it. OK. Close dialog. Now the button should be
repaired.

I see, that something is wrong, therefore I set it to "new". But I have not yet
tested, whether the file itself has an error.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 140226] New: Make use of SfxPoolItems more typesafe by using StaticWhichCast

2021-02-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=140226

Bug ID: 140226
Summary: Make use of SfxPoolItems more typesafe by using
StaticWhichCast
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: Inherited From OOo
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: bjoern.michael...@libreoffice.org

Description:
There is a lot of code of the form:

switch ( rItem.Which() )
{
case RES_CHRATR_CASEMAP:
rFnt.SetCaseMap( static_cast(rItem).GetCaseMap() );
break;
...

in Writer and elsewhere. That is: code that uses SfxPoolItems home-grown
"WhichId" as type information and then uses a static_cast to downcast the base
class to a proper type. As this "WhichId" is generated at runtime, this is
errorprone and fragile. Since the introduction of TypedWhichId in
include/svl/typedwhich.hxx (Thanks Noel!), there exists a proper mapping of
WhichIds to the derived classes of SfxPoolItem. SfxPoolItem::StaticWhichCast
uses these to do a proper downcast, while asserting if either the WhichId or
the dynamic type does not match expectations. This EasyHack is to:

1/ Find such a static_cast. "git grep static_cast.*Item" might be a starting
   point.
2/ Replace the static_cast with a StaticWhichCast. An example of how this is
done
   can be found at: https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/110233
3/ Ensure the debug builds still pass all tests after the change
(gerrit/jenkins
   can help here.)

What is to be done, if one of the StaticWhichCasts asserts? Congratulations,
you likely just dicovered some type confusion in LibreOffice. You now have
three options to resolve this issue:
a/ Investigate how the misleading item ended up in this place and fix it. This
   might be non-trivial.
b/ Put a big, fat FIXME note in the source code hinting that the content of the
SfxPoolItem defies expectations, use a DynamicWhichCast instead and guard
the
following code against the case that the cast produces a nullptr.
c/ Leave this particular static_cast as is and ad a big, fat FIXME not as per
   above.

Ultimately, a/ is the best option here, but it might be out of the scope of an
EasyHack. If you have help available (e.g. from #libreoffice-dev IRC), you
might still venture to solve it.

The page break is inserted because there is a change in page styles used on the
first page and later, and that requires a page break. The different page style
is because of the font size difference in the header/footer on page 1 vs the
rest (unifying font sizes and exporting afterwards gets rid of the multiple
styles). I believe this is because Word and Writer calculates margin spacing
differently... (bug 33304) but I might be wrong, and this is unrelated.

It happens to me every time. It's more of a hang than a crash actually -- hangs
my whole system with the pointer staying as the resize pointer and very
difficult to kill the window. I tried deleting everything in
~/.config/libreoffice/ but that makes no difference.

The above commit should fix the DisplayName property of table styles. As for
cell styles, I don't think they need DisplayName. Those styles are used only as
part of table styles, not as standalone styles (i.e. you can't assign a cell
style to a table cell), and not supposed to be shown in the UI.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 140222] New: Split button popup windows are docked incorrectly using ctrl+shift+F10

2021-02-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=140222

Bug ID: 140222
Summary: Split button popup windows are docked incorrectly
using ctrl+shift+F10
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.2.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: UI
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: rayk...@gmail.com

Most split button control popup windows should not able to be docked using
ctrl+shift+F10. Basic shapes is the one exception I could find that would work
properly. It doesn't allow docking until after torn away from the split
control.

To repro using Writer:

1) Click on the drop down split of any color control, table control, special
characters control, or one of other split button controls that can be placed in
a toolbar (does not happen for all).
2) Ctrl+Shift+F10

Result: popup window is docked in the tool bar

Expected results: shortcut is ignored

Version: 7.2.0.0.alpha0+ / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: a0c689e1ad98bf3c47d189b8cc99c9f4bcc41a12
CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 5.4; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

On confirmation I will submit a patch to logerrit for consideration to make
this not happen.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 140221] New: Formula Editor width should use all the available space

2021-02-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=140221

Bug ID: 140221
Summary: Formula Editor width should use all the available
space
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.0.4.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Formula Editor
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: rafael.palma.l...@gmail.com

Currently LO Math's Formula Editor uses only about half the available space for
formula editing. This does not provide a good experience when formulas get too
long, which is common for matrices and multi-line formulas. See the image
"Formula Editor - BEFORE".

I believe it would be better if the Formula Editor could use all the available
width, as shown in "Formula Editor - AFTER".

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 134940] --> does not replace automatically to → in AutoCorrect

2021-02-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=134940

(In reply to Leandro Martín Drudi from comment #11)
Thanks for the explanation. You understand that this Bugzilla system is mostly
to address specific problems with the software. If you want, you could make a
enhancement request, where you make the suggestion that you gave in comment 9.
That is, open a new bug report, and there is a label called Severity, that has
the word "enhancement" in the drop-down box. Explain the confusion that arose
with the >> -- it is possible that someone will be able to say a way to make an
improvement to avoid this problem.

But it is also possible that someone will say that this is explained in the
documentation, for example:
https://help.libreoffice.org/7.2/es/text/shared/01/06040400.html
https://help.libreoffice.org/7.2/es/text/swriter/01/0515.html

and that an average user should also be willing to try to read a little. After
all, it is also possible to turn off AutoCorrect completely.

I am also an average user, not a developer. Sometimes it is just necessary to
make some experiments and then try to find some help documentation. That is
what I did in this case. I am not trying to persuade you of anything, just
trying to show the possibilities where it might be possible to do something in
relation to the concrete problem with <<.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 140220] New: Replace SwClient with SvtListener in Writer

2021-02-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=140220

Bug ID: 140220
Summary: Replace SwClient with SvtListener in Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: bjoern.michael...@libreoffice.org

Description:
SwClient is a very problematic implementation of the observer pattern(*).
However these days all SwModify's are also a sw::BroadcasterMixin. This means
the SwClient can be turned into a SvtListener without much effort to be
notified. This EasyHack is about the following:

1/ find a direct derived class of SwClient (except SwModify/ListenerEntry)
   git grep public.*SwClient
2/ Instead of using SwClients Add/Remove/SWClientNotify/GetRegisteredIn, use
GetNotifier/StartListening/EndListening
an example of how this might be done can be found on gerrit:
   https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/110495

@Justin
Is this one of those rounding issues? Where image size gets bigger because of
measuring difference between DOCX and ODT. Or something else? And if it's
rounding, maybe not rounding up?

@Justin,
The whole ODT <-> DOCX conversion is beyond me. As there are plenty of cases
where page breaks are introduced not present in the source for one reason or
another.

So maybe this is proper, but 3.0 doesn't do it. And I'm not seeing the point.
[and obviously dislike page breaks all over the place]

2021-02-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 140217
Summary: [SLIDESHOW] SVG as background image is rendered in low
resolution when in slideshow mode
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.4.7.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ziga...@protonmail.com

Description:
If you use an SVG image as background (whether in a slide or a master slide),
the SVG is rendered at the current resolution in editing mode but in a lower
resolution in slideshow thus blurring it.

This is especially visible when using 4K screens.

Any other SVG not added as background image is rendered correctly in slideshow.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a new SVG called background.svg
2. Create a new presentation
3. Set background.svg as the background image of either slide or master slide
4. Run slideshow in full screen

Actual Results:
The background is blurred because it is not rendered at the screen resolution.

Expected Results:
The background should be rendered at the screen resolution.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 140215] New: Improve the Comment strings in .desktop files

2021-02-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=140215

Bug ID: 140215
Summary: Improve the Comment strings in .desktop files
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: trivial
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: scootergri...@gmail.com

Description:
The following strings are used in the .desktop files for LibreOffice that you
might see in something like Xfce whisker application menu.

I suggest removing the last part of the strings because Name in the .desktop
file might be "LibreOffice Writer" so the comment don't need to also have "by
using Writer."

Remove:
 by using Writer.
 by using Impress.
 by using Draw.
 by using Calc.
 by using Math.
 by using Base.

Also it might be better to write something else for the Comment string for
libreoffice-startcenter.desktop which is:

The office productivity suite compatible to the open and standardized ODF
document format. Supported by The Document Foundation.

Seems like it is a laucher to start the 6 applications so maybe write something
like this instead:

Create files in Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw, Math, and Base

Or:

Start center for creating files in Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw, Math, and Base

Or:

Start center for Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw, Math, and Base

Or whatever would be better.

I suggest not using "." at the end of the Comment-strings.

Steps to Reproduce:
Look at the Name and Comment strings in /usr/share/applications/libreoffice-*
or open something like whisker menu in Xfce. Might need to change a setting to
see the Comment strings.

Actual Results:
>From these strings:
Create and edit text and images in letters, reports, documents and Web pages by
using Writer.

Create and edit presentations for slideshows, meeting and Web pages by using
Impress.

Create and edit drawings, flow charts, and logos by using Draw.

Perform calculations, analyze information and manage lists in spreadsheets by
using Calc.

Create and edit scientific formulas and equations by using Math.

Manage databases, create queries and reports to track and manage your
information by using Base.

Expected Results:
So they would end up being something like:

Create and edit text and images in letters, reports, documents and Web pages

Create and edit presentations for slideshows, meeting and Web pages

Create and edit drawings, flow charts, and logos

Perform calculations, analyze information and manage lists in spreadsheets

Create and edit scientific formulas and equations

Manage databases, create queries and reports to track and manage your
information

Start center for Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw, Math, and Base

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 140214] UI: The sidebar expands at maximum size under some circumstances

Still not really a clue how to distinct between 'hide' deck & hide full
sidebar.
The collapse button surely kind of misleading. Especially in the context of
collapsed deck.

And the <-> thing simply weird and expand to maximum awful. And no, it's not
obvious for everybody that it's possible to click deck button twice to
collapse..

close sidebar
* Additional button to collapse the full sidebar

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 140200] Sidebar minimum width is excessively wide; crashes when try to resize

2021-02-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=140200

Crash could be (a) a corrupted profile.. or (b) some quirky behavior at first
launch. So launch LibreOffice, close again.. And try to resize the sidebar..

I have encountered this few times in the past, but never investigated the exact
circumstances

In my perception, yes. Happily to put in under 'ENHANCEMENT". And maybe the
movement is not best example. Say image deletion. And simply compare MSO

What is the sense of 'Record Changes' If skips 20% of the changes?

I don't see the Help as proper reference. If things don't exists, never existed
but should be working ideally. If the help would mention the 'desired' result
and not the factual functionality, well.. would call it misleading..

I already argued that 'Undo' and "Track changes systems" should be merged
ideally. Undo is far better in registering changes. But this are currently to
in depend systems for historical reasons I guess. And the suggestion is taken
seriously at DEV side, but this won't happen any time soon. Landing at long
term or super long term (10-20 years); but maybe the world changed in that
period and it isn't needed anymore at all?
