[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 143909] New: Cannot use unicode keyboard shortcut in comments

2021-08-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=143909

Bug ID: 143909
Summary: Cannot use unicode keyboard shortcut in comments
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.2.0.2 rc
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: bugrepor...@bchemnet.com

Description:
Moving from 7.0.4 to 7.2RC2, I have lost the ability to insert unicode symbols
in Writer comments under Linux. I normally do this using the standard
shift+ctrl+u shortcut, then the code for the symbol. This continues to work
fine in the document area, but in shortcuts it now either does nothing (using
the GTK3 interface) or just gives a "u" (using the X11 interface).

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create new writer document.
2. Create new comment.
3. Try to add unicode symbol using keyboard.

Actual Results:
Nothing happens or get a "u"

Expected Results:
Expect system to accept next few characters as a unicode character code.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Not interfere with my system shortcut.

I am not sure if this additional information will assist, but in the event it
does: on 7.2RC2, the matching works only once I enter enough characters that
there is a SINGLE match to a previous cell. Previously the matching started as
soon as I started typing, which was usually more helpful.

Yes, I know and I have said so in my request, but this connection is not
multiuser, which is the main reason for the request, , besides other advantages
(user control, for example) that the server provides and cannot be achieved
with the current connection to the file.

I an only shake my head in disbelieve.
Yet another 'bug is no bug but a feature'.
Firstly, the behaviour is different from MS PP. It used to be one of the aims
to be comparable.
Second, the previous argument seems to imply, that I ought not be able to
change a hidden text attribute at all. Not in a table. That is, I must not be
able to go and modify a text attribute at all, and not be able to modify a cell
content.

It won't help much, I'm afraid, to reopen it. Despite of me being unable to see
any common sense in said action.

Indeed, but on azerty keyboards, you have to press the Shift key to produce

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 143907] New: Ordered Numeric List in LO Writer fails to properly align from third sub-level down

2021-08-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=143907

Bug ID: 143907
Summary: Ordered Numeric List in LO Writer fails to properly
align from third sub-level down
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.2.0.2 rc
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: tarotf...@protonmail.com

Description:
In a document with an ordered numeric list with all sub-levels (e.g., three
levels 1, 1.1, and 1.1.1), if you want to indent or align each level’s heading
from the left margin by some predetermined amount that increases with each
sub-level to help differentiate the different levels (e.g., Heading 1 or level
1 set to 0.00", Heading 2 or level 1.1 set a 0.25", and Heading 3 or level
1.1.1 set at 0.50"), the first and second levels are applied and work fine when
OK is pressed, but the third level fails to move the amount specified via…

Format > Bullets and Numbering > Position

In other words, if you change the Aligned at: setting for Level 1 to 0.00″,
Level 2 to 0.25″, and Level 3 to 0.50″ and press OK, the change will only apply
to the first two levels and not the third. Also note that when you scroll the
Aligned at: up for a larger indent in Level 3 that the change in the Preview
pane is actually moving the Level 2 alignment—not the Level 3 alignment. One
more thing to note, and that is that in the Preview pane all three levels
display correctly if you select Level 1 or Level 2, but if you select Level 3
the Preview pane will not only NOT align the Level 3 headings as desired—but it
will indicate the first numeral to be a 0 instead of a 1. However, if you go to
the Customize tab, all three levels displayed in the Preview pane do display
the correct numerals and alignments. Additionally, these symptoms for Level 3
only appear in the Preview pane and do NOT affect or overwrite those already
set up for Level 2 (in other words, Level 2 displays as intended in the
document, but Level 3 fails to align at all).

The same is true if you use the Sidebar to access Styles > List Styles and then
R-click on Numbering 123, then click on Modify…, and then go to the Position
tab. The Preview pane shows the correct alignments until you click on Level 3.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set up an ordered numeric list with all sub-levels (see example provided)
2. Set Heading indents or alignment as suggested above for Levels 1-3 (or more)

Actual Results:
>From the third sub-level down, the alignment fails to apply itself to the
alignment settings you set--plus, the alignment--as it appears the Preview
pane, is in Level 2 instead of Level 3 and has a leading 0 instead of a leading
1 (this does not transfer to the actual document--only as it appears in the
Preview pane.

Expected Results:
Level 3 on down should align as selected and the Preview pane should indicate
those changes in the correct level and not indicate a leading 0 when the start
from is set to 1.

2021-08-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 143905
Summary: Firebird. Buit-in driver to connect to a firebird
server
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Base
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: juancsa...@hotmail.com

Description:
One of the most requested features, in relation to Base databases, is the
ability to maintain a multi-user database.
Since firebird is going to be the default embedded database manager, the
logical evolution to solve the problem and convert a single-user database into
a multi-user database is to export the embedded database to a firebird server.
Extracting the data file from the .odb file is not a big problem. However the
connection to the firebird server is not easy from Base.
Currently you can create an embedded firebird data file, you can also create
and connect to a firebird file external to the .odb file (this connection does
not support multiple users simultaneously), but there is no built-in way to
connect to a firebird server, as there is, for example, for mysql or postgres.
Incorporating a way to connect to a firebird server would be a great
improvement that would help increase the number of Base users by easing the
transition from an embedded database to a multi-user database.

Actual Results:
It is not possible to connect to a firebird server without an externarl driver

Expected Results:
Connection to a firebird server with incorporated driver

   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.3.0.0 alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: santha.bal...@simonyi.bme.hu

Description:
When inserting a new row in a table, Writer copies the row's formattings both
at the level of paragraphs and characters, even though we should avoid to copy
the direct character formattings.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create an empty Writer Document
2. Create a table
3. Write "TEXTREDTEXT" in the last cell
4. Select the portion "RED" from the text, and apply a specific Font color on
it
5. Place the cursor in the last cell, and insert a new row after it (simply
press TAB to do this)
6. Write something into the new last cell of the table

Actual Results:
The newly typed text will be the same color, what you set in as a direct
character formatting.

Expected Results:
The newly typed text should be black (default).

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
This bug is a regression of
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=143244

The reason why this regression happened is that: MSO Word uses a paragraph mark
symbol (i.e the control character than can be configured to be shown), which is
imported in Writer as a 0-length hint. To fasten up the import of DOCX tables,
the core applies the formattings from this 0-length attribute on paragraph
level, directly before inserting a new row.
All in all, to solve this bug, we need to make sure, that we only copy the
formattings, if it is a 0-length hint.

It would fail in other constellations that now are handled well, like

"abc "def" ghi, jkl"

where
|abc "def" ghi, jkl|
is supposed to be *one* field content because the generator didn't escape
quotes by doubling them. Your approach would result in
|"abc "def" ghi| jkl"|

Whatever we'll do, it will make things fail differently for other data of
broken generators. You could throw more logic at it like thinking in "words" to
be ignored re-triggering quotes have to have a space left (opening quote) or
right (closing quote), which would fail for data that simply doesn't follow
that assumption. Things get even worse if space was a field separator.

Take a look at what is done with the field start mode and quote state to fix
known broken data cases and bug 48621 for test case sample files and related.

I tend to close this for a too broken generator, but if you can come up with
some loose magic that doesn't break any of the already handled cases, then
fine..

Hi zigazou,

I tried to reproduce the bug using the following steps:

1. Go to View -> User interface -> enable "Tabbed" UI.
2. Create a new, empty presentation. Duplicate the first slide. Enter "First
slide" as title for the first slide and "Second slide" for the title of the
second slide.
3. Save the presentation.
4. Go to View -> Master Slide. Right-click on the margin of the master slide
and choose "Slide properties" to set a dark background colour for the
presentation.
5. Without leaving the Master Slide view, go to View and click "Greyscale".
6. Go back to the Normal view; the first slide has black text (default colour)
on a white background. The same applies to the second slide. At the same time,
the slide panel on the left still displays the dark background for both slides.
7. Go to View and click "Greyscale"; this has no effect.

It was not entirely clear to me whether, after step 4, I should go back to the
normal view or stay on the Master Slide view, since only one slide is shown in
the Master Slide view.

If my representation of the steps does not match what you intended, can you
please clarify?

log

a) copy any table from writer (preferably the last one)
b) Paste it next to the end table that exist in Calc (in attachment)
c) Then cut it, and paste it either as tranpose
- by right-click menu single entry or
- by right-click tranpose menu entries (select values).

In both cases, I am unable to traspose this table. Libre office crash with no
report / log.

Libre office dev 7.3.0.0.alpha in ubuntu 20.3.

A zip file with two attachments:
a) tables in writer to be transport into calc
b) Calc with some tables transported from writer.

(please, do this experiment many times. Sometimes dont crash, sometimes it
does. In some tables always!) - this beviour existed to me in previous editions

Hiding columns & rows isn't much use when the app just keeps adding new ones as
I scroll to the empty columns or rows I want to hide! NO other spreadsheet I
have EVER used just keeps adding new rows & columns as I scroll--they stop at
the edge of my document, so that I can rely on scrolling to the edge of my
document to see the data at the edge, and not a bunch of new empty cells I had
no interest in creating just because I wanted to see the edge of my document.
(This is not about extending ths selection, this is about just scrolling
around.)

I really don't care what office suites do internally in this matter; I care
about what they do externally that affects my ability to navigate my document.
You don't see word processors adding infinite pages or paragraphs as you scroll
to the end--including LibreOffice. Spreadsheets should behave similarly.

More places to adapt.. sc/source/ui/view/viewfun2.cxx the enum ScAutoSum, and
lcl_IsAutoSumData() the switch, and one comparison in
ScViewFunc::GetAutoSumArea() (best introduce a proper end value in the enum for

In principle happy with the decision, except it more or less useless with this
fact:

The auto-complete list document based. There is no way to share this across
sessions other documents. You are always starting form scratch. Only this
user-unfriendly workaround.

Note: not saying that auto-complete registering all long words being typed
being, desired by definition. This can cause auto of context auto-complete
suggestions.

And a new GUI is needed if auto-complete list should be configurable for every
language separately.

So any change isn't straight forward :-(

It really needs more overthinking and comparison with different auto-complete
