[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 144527] New: LibreOffice crashes when opening ALL file types
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=144527 Bug ID: 144527 Summary: LibreOffice crashes when opening ALL file types Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.2.0.4 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: LibreOffice Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: steve...@gmail.com I currently successfully use version 7.0.6. In May, I upgraded to 7.1 and it installed perfectly, but every time I try to open a file (either from the recent document window OR from my documents folder), LO crashes. I reverted back and every worked fine for 4 months with 7.0. Today I installed 7.2.4, hoping for a fix, but the same thing happens. I can create new documents, but if I try to open an existing Writer or Impress file LO crashes. I clicked on file Bug report but I don't think anything happened. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 144525] New: Allow fill for line strokes and borders of shapes
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=144525 Bug ID: 144525 Summary: Allow fill for line strokes and borders of shapes Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.2.0.4 release Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: enhancement Priority: medium Component: LibreOffice Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: cpum...@gmail.com Description: If I draw a shape such as a rectangle, I have many fill options. I can fill with gradient, hatch, pattern, color, or bitmap. However, this applies to the inside of the shape, not the border. I would like to be able to do this on the border of shapes as well as lines. As a workaround, if I'm using Draw, if I convert my line to Contour I can make my line with these effects (see attachment). However, as far as I know you can't do this in Writer. You also can't do this for the border of shapes. Please allow fill options for lines and borders of shapes without requiring strange workarounds in all LibreOffice products. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Draw shape 2. Set fill to a pattern, gradient, hatch or bitmap and observe the output 3. Draw line or a non-filled shape 4. Attempt step #2 Actual Results: 1. Doesn't work since it only applies to interior of shape, not border Expected Results: If I want my shape to have a border with a bitmap, pattern, or gradient I should still see it. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 137125] DF Formatting moving around in unexpected way with copy/paste
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=137125 --- Comment #13 from Telesto --- (In reply to Mike Kaganski from comment #10) > Totally agree. The idea of "let me do random stuff and invent expectations" > is questionable; many specifics of behavior are introduced to benefit > *specific* workflows, that deemed important enough; indeed, any behavior > that looks natural in one workflow could be inconvenient in another. So > every report should not be "Expected Results: No clue if correct ... I > suggest ... I assume ..." without any evidence that this would be useful, > but a discussion of a specific case where this is breaking one's real > workflow. This kind of an issue of case by case (or incident based) bug reporting hitting fundamental questions without a straight forward answer :-). I do observe something I find 'extraordinary' or dislike in certain case.. I would be very pretentious of me saying: this is wrong and should be XYZ if I'm aware that there isn't a single answer and being a complicated topic. I'm also well aware how delicate the matter of change (of (layout) code) is. Not knowing in advance what will happen if it got changed. If the positive aspect will outweigh the negative (in hindsight) in general. Or they change ends up being a "can of worms.." which hunting the developer for ever .. OTOH I not big fan of having "status quo" by unknowns. Innovation needs 'radical' change. Which ends up in lovely dilemma. Rock or Hard place: https://c.tenor.com/fDZOE4okO3EC/homer-simpsons.gif I illustrate my doubts in the bug report.. I could have bluntly argued this being totally broken. However it doesn't change much. Except someone would point out, well this isn't that simple.. > And then, after investigating why is this behavior is introduced > initially (if that was intentional, of course), the discussion would be > about comparison of the workflows, their relative importance, and user > experience. I fully agree with steps described here. I really wish this being possible. However I'm stuck at the operationalization aspects. How to inventorize workflows. How to grade the relative importance respectively user experience (and by who) Even after all those analysis you might still miss out something (overlooking something; or something like emergence]. The assessment in advance brings us only so far (it's surely not a step to be missed, but no panacea either). The ultimate test will always be the actual implementation :-(. However this can again being perceived as experimenting of the back of the end-user.. No clue what's the right think to do -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

I'd welcome such a tool very much > but doubt that our "chaotic" open source development can become formalized. > Besides it would be a huge effort to collect all information from the past > 30 years. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. It would already help if current topics where 'documented' (which also includes some flashbacks as far someone can dig up). The past is the past. Documentation that is mission impossible. However documenting the current would already needing quite some discipline (and someone explicitly responsible), else it will fail. And in the light of the "chaotic" open source development... I had uninstalled 7.2, reinstalled 7.0.5 in an attempt to actually generate the label list, saw your email updates and reinstalled 7.2. This is the process I used for the two runs. 1. Opened Spreadsheet 'Bugsheet.ods' 2. Manipulated column widths, created two new columns before SecLastName, SecFirstName, added function to concat those two fields in new column1, copied new column1 and pasted special (values only) to new column2, deleted new column1, SecLastName, SecFirstName columns, Saved file 3. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 144521] FILESAVE: Stop storing empty cells
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=144521 --- Comment #2 from rob...@prino.org --- I have absolutely no clue how to explicitly reproduce this. As I wrote, I just had a look at a test ODS file and I came across such cases. I'll see if I can recreate something in good time, and "good time" is for now undefined, as I just got pretty bad news from the other side of Europe about my mother. I have however attached a "real" file, "lift & v100+.ods" that contains truckloads of and a fair amount of tags, and it's grown organically, starting in the days of OO, sometimes I added temporary columns, and set the format for all rows, and later deleted them again. Sometimes I put multiple tables on a sheet, only to later move them to a new sheet, etc, etc, etc. Another of the (many) other "problems" with this(?) particular sheet is that some columns are given the same width (Rides.Q and Rides.R), but that they end up with different widths in "contents.xml" ("co11": 8.895 cm, "co12": 8.901cm), but those are probably better left to another bug report. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=133941 --- Comment #3 from Olivier Hallot --- The defined apps for certificate management seems to be fixed in the code https://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/xmlsecurity/source/dialogs/digitalsignaturesdialog.cxx?r=9940f077#456 And certmgr.msc is not listed there. So I guess user *must* install one of the hard-coded tools to sign in windows 10. Also, not sure certmgr.msc can handle GPG, which may be the reason for forcing gpg4win -> doc. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 144507] Unable to save spreadsheets when one of them is a CSV file
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=144507 --- Comment #2 from Pete Haigh --- 2. The CSV file is open for viewing only. There is no editing on that sheet. If I open a new spreadsheet that's when the fun begins. 4. I can input information into the new spreadsheet however I cannot save, save as, export or print the page. The only option I have is to quit the application and thus, lose my work. I was initially using a V6.something version and I upgraded to V7.2 to see if that resolved the issue. It did not. When working with a test file, I inserted columns/rows, deleted columns/rows, changed the format of entire columns/rows, and eventually decided to have a look at "content.xml" and where the XML writer does some (pretty minimal) optimisations, for storing repeated cells, but it misses out on plenty cases, where the resulting "content.xml" contains code like: In other words, a row that ends with 780 empty columns, that are still "stored" in the file, and need to be parsed when reading it in. Same happens for rows, with is an order of magnitude worse, as there can be a million of them. It would/might be nice if the XML writing code could stop this from happening. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 144520] New: Selecting cells in Impress tables is almost impossible
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=144520 Bug ID: 144520 Summary: Selecting cells in Impress tables is almost impossible Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.2.1.1 rc Hardware: All OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Impress Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: silva...@katamail.com Description: Create Any table in an Impress slide, insert some content in the cells. Than try to select some of the cells, for example a row/column or any subset of adjacent cells. Or try to select all the table cells with ctrl+a, or by mouse dragging. In all cases, Cell selection does not seem to work in the usual fashion (similar to writer tables for example). By dragging the mouse in various directions you sometimes get some selection, but it is generally not what you expected and therefore not useful. Formatting Impress tables with this unresponsiveness becomes practically impossible. Steps to Reproduce: 1. in an impress slide, create a table 2. try to selects some cells with a mouse dragging operation, or with the shift + arrows keys. You do not obtain the expected selections, and most of the times you get no selection at all. 3. Now click in a cell so that the cursor is clearly blinking in it. then use the command "select all" in the edit menu. THe text inside the cell when the cursor is gets selected; however the repetition of the same command does not result in the selection of all cells. Actual Results: Selecting cells in impress tables is difficult if not impossible with mostly unexpected results Expected Results: Cell selection should work in the standard fashion Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: Cell selection in Impress tables was painfully slow but working in release 6.1.4 that I tried to check if this was a regression. It seems to be. By the way, working with tables in Impress have always been a real pain for the slow response to any command/operation. But this now is very difficult to workaround, one is tempted to use a writer table and then insert the OLE object into the impress slide -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 144519] New: EDITING: writer: deleting a formula leaves the cursor at the wrong place
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=144519 Bug ID: 144519 Summary: EDITING: writer: deleting a formula leaves the cursor at the wrong place Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.1.6.2 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: palmierivinc@gmail.com Description: With Writer, after i deleted an in-text formula, the cursor is placed one caracter at the right of the expected position. It might to be seen as a bug, but it also happens when i want to replace a formula by another one: assuming that the new formula is in the paperboard, if i select the old one and paste the new one, it replaces the old formula as expected, but its position in the text is no longer correct. This implies an additional operation, hence a loss of productivity. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Fill a line with the text "1234567890", 2. Put the text cursor between "1" and "2", 3. Insert a formula with Insert > Object > Formula, 4. Get out of the formula editor with ESC, 4. Delete this formula with DEL. Actual Results: The cursor is between "2" and "3". Expected Results: The cursor is between "1" and "2". Only on doming recent maintenance did I discover the bad behavior. I have uploaded the HSQLDB *.script file so you can clearly see how the database objects are defined. I suspect this my be related to object ownership/privilege's as the viewer works fine for objects owned by the current user.
