[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 132279] Deleting first paragraph of a document deletes anchored to object

Thank you for explanation. I didn't know this.

> the positions before and after the change are shown
> correctly, the change itself is questionable.
I agree.

But what is the behaviour here? I see two possibilities:
1. Second paragraph is deleted instead of first paragraph. But that doesn't
explain, why anchor is deleted too.
2. First paragraph is deleted and second paragraph takes paragraph style from
first paragraph. But that wouldn't explain behaviour in bug 146451 (deletion of
anchor in second paragraph)

I'm not a developer so excuse my (perhaps naive) question. But could somebody
explain, what' actaully happening, if you try to delete first paragraph.

Additional observation: DF and CS of first paragraph (italic and underline)
disappears, if you try to delete it (PS remains).

I'm sure you know, that you can change this colors in Tools -> Options
->LibreOffice -> Application Colours, but you idea is to have access to that
options with an icon in toolbar, correct?

> Flexibility to place the most important icons
Please explain, why flexibility with Tools -> Customise -> Toolbars is not
sufficient enough

So this is the idea to give you the possibility to create shortcuts for special

(In reply to Dieter from comment #13)
> 1. Anchor seems to be part of first paragraph but is in fact connected with
> second paragraph (I don't have a good formulation here)

No. The anchor really *moves* when you change its type - it is re-created, and
uses the object placement to find the closest text to anchor to. This is
similar to other cases, like drag-and-dropping objects, where it not only
changes object positioning, but also moves the anchor - and it's impossible to
move only one, or the other, but not both (bug , bug ). So here there's no
"seeming" position, the positions before and after the change are shown
correctly, the change itself is questionable.

But the behavior of bug 146451 is unrelated to this bug, and you marked it a
dupe to this one mistakenly: the objects anchored to *either* of the two
initial empty paragraphs, both in to-char and to-paragraph modes, are deleted
both when you press Del in 1st, or backspace in 2nd. That is an own issue.

With reference to my previous comment 13 I don't see a conflict here. If it’s
true, that anchor is connected in some way with the second paragraph and second
paragraph is deleted instead or first paragraph, behaviour is in line with bug

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 132279] Deleting first paragraph of a document deletes anchored to object

2022-01-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=132279

While having a look at bug 146451 I came to this bug again and I understand it
better now.

If you change anchor in attachment 159766 from "To Character" to "To Paragraph"
it jumps to second paragraph. And since it is not possible to delete first
paragraph (AFAIK), you delete the second paragraph, if you press backspace (you
can make it more visible, if first and second paragraph have different
paragraph styles).

So I think we have to bugs here:
1. Anchor seems to be part of first paragraph but is in fact connected with
second paragraph (I don't have a good formulation here)
2. It's not clear for users, that you can't delete first paragraph and therefor
not clear that second paragraph (with anchor inside) will be deleted. Solution:
Perhaps a window with a message like "It's not possible to delete the first
paragraph of a document" (I assume somebody else will find a better solution).

Dear Zeus Castro,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to

Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.

Dear André Schnabel,

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,
QA Team

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 146673] H2 database - PUBLIC schema tables no longer displayed in UI

2022-01-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=146673

As do I.

Perhaps H2 and Libreoffice projects should stop advertising that these systems
can work together, unless someone spends the time to find out exactly why, and
publishes a workaround.

It is well known that H2 used to be a candidate for Base backend that has been
rejected. Perhaps the resulting bad blood is still simmering between these two
projects. Not really my problem. Since Base works with HSQLDB fine, I will just
make a mental note "don't bother to use H2 with Base; mutual sabotage likely"

I am still looking for a database front end that would allow me to create a
data entry form visually, but does not drag the whole machinery of Office with
it.

Good luck!

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 146728] New: Direct formatting is applied to paragraph text even if the paragraph previously uses paragraph style and does not use direct formating

2022-01-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=146728

Bug ID: 146728
Summary: Direct formatting is applied to paragraph text even if
the paragraph previously uses paragraph style and does
not use direct formating
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.3.0.0 alpha0+
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: suokunl...@126.com

Created attachment 177515
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=177515=edit
testTextStyles.odt

The attached test doc contains a simple paragraph formatted using the Title
paragraph style, without any direct formatting. When I type in a Chinese
character within the paragraph, the new typed character will have direct
character formatting applied.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Open the test doc in Writer. Notice that the paragraph has the "Title"
paragraph style applied, and there is no direct formatting (which can be
observed from the Styles Inspector sidebar deck).

2. Type any Chinese character (e.g. the character 的 which can be typed by
hitting the keys "d" and "e" using the ibus-libpinyin input method) anywhere
within the paragraph text. (Note: copy-paste from web-browser as unformatted
text does not trigger this bug)
--> Bug: the newly typed-in text has direct formatting applied.

3. Change the font size of the Title paragraph style to a smaller size.
--> The font size for the newly typed-in text remains unchanged (due to it was
applied direct formatting in step 2). I need to apply "clear direct formatting"
to make the font size same as other characters.

Current Result:
See comment "-->" in above step 2.

Expected Result:
When I type-in any text in this paragraph, it should use the Title paragraph
style and no new direct character formatting should be created or applied to
the newly inserted text.

Note that this works as expected when the name is in only one column: both the
line and the legend disappear when the data series name is filtered out.
So this issue is related to the fact that the name range for one single data
series goes across several cells. Filter out a part of the range, or even the
whole range, still doesn't get rid of the legend item.
Definitely something that should be fixed, in my opinion.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 146727] New: Import strings that matches specific LO Math operators in MSO equations as text

2022-01-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=146727

Bug ID: 146727
Summary: Import strings that matches specific LO Math operators
in MSO equations as text
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: Inherited From OOo
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Formula Editor
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: franciscoadriansanc...@gmail.com

Description:
There are several cases when some strings that are Math operators are used as
single chain strains or even variable emphasis.
Some examples are:
1) "bar" = common unit of measure for pressures, is also a command for overline
variables
2) "cicle", "square", may be single words inside an equation.
3) "+", "*" and other operators are used for emphasis, like, for instance, a
reference value.

In the attached DOCX file, there are several examples of that are not well
imported.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open attached file
2.
3.

Actual Results:
Equations 2 to 3 have been lost. If the file is saved by LO, and then opened
and saved by MS Word, there will be data loss.

Expected Results:
All equations are correctly imported.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
I don't know how "circle" and "bar" emphasis are handled within MSO, but I
think that "bar", "circle", and other strings that matches Math operators
should be imported as quoted text.

On the other hand, "+" and "*" should have been imported also as quotated text,
although I'm not sure on how to solve this case. Maybe, when Math detects an

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 146726] New: Non-italics (common text) in MS Office equations are wrongly imported

2022-01-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=146726

Bug ID: 146726
Summary: Non-italics (common text) in MS Office equations are
wrongly imported
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.0.6.3 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Formula Editor
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: franciscoadriansanc...@gmail.com

Description:
Non-italics string chains in modern MSO equations are imported as italics by
Libreoffice Math

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the attached DOCX file with Writer
2. Look at the string "trapezoid area"

Actual Results:
It's in italics.

Expected Results:
It should be normal text (non-italics)

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
One needs to edit the equation and add quotations to the string chain in order
to recover the same rendering.

The same file also shows some extra problems which will be reported separately.

I set version as 5.0 as is the oldest I could check, but I'm sure it's OOo
inherited.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 146724] New: Wrong bracket scaling on large text size

2022-01-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=146724

Bug ID: 146724
Summary: Wrong bracket scaling on large text size
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: Inherited From OOo
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Formula Editor
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: franciscoadriansanc...@gmail.com

Description:
When inserting a formula with large font size, like 18 pt or larger, where
brackets, parenthesis or similar are involved, these aren't properly scaled
with font size.
This particular problem arises when doing cientific presentations or posters
(Impress or Draw).

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Crete an ODG or ODP file
2. Insert a formula with scalable parenthesis. It could be a matrix or a mere
fraction, for instance,

left (1 over 2 right )

and exit Equation Editor. The equation looks well, with parenthesis properly
scaled.

3. Set a large size, like 32 pts (default size is LibreOffice Impress blank
template). It shoul read now

size 32 {left (1 over 2 right )}

and exit the editor again.

Actual Results:
Brackets are poorly scaled, when compared to the default font size obtained
after step 2.

Expected Results:
The scaling of the brackets should be proportional to what was obtained for 12
pt typeface.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
This bug is closely related to bug 32362; when that one is solved, this will be
also solved.

Notwithstanding, that bug is difficult to solve because it requires a lot of
effort.

On the other hand, if the handling of parenthesis scaling is done differently
for font size expansion than for large objects, this one could be solved;
because it seems that LibreOffice scales the bracket up to large front size
from a 12 pt font, when it should scale it from the same font size as set in
the formula text.

A workaround for this, plausible when there are only a couple of equations, is
shown in the attached file.

1) Create the equation you want in the size you need.
2) Select the equation is check its size from Size and Position (F4 key)
Record the hight of the drawing
3) Back to the equation, set size 12
4) Open again the size and position,
4.1) uncheck "protect size",
4.2) check "keep proportion",
4.3) and set the hight of the 18 pt size equation and exit.
Now you have a beautiful equation.

Another possible workaround, only useful for Impress, is to set a smaller slide
size. Default font size is 32 pt and slide is 28 cm wide. For going to a font
size of 12 pts, we need a 10.5 cm wide.

Description:
Edit "Links to External Files..."
Shows: Source File, Element, Type, Status, but it doesn't show from where is
requested.
Some times the Source File Link is called by a formula where the "file:///" or
any other way to call for a File link is not Stated, because it might be called
by an "indirect()" formula. You can Break the Link as many times as you want,
but every time that you open the file again, it will call it again, because is
in a formula in the file.
It would be "nice" to be able to find All or at least the first call of the
File Link.
It happens to me in Calc, but I guess is the same on all the components

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Link a file to a document
2. Go to "Edit "Links to External Files..."" look for the source of the Link
File
3. Try to find it from the Edit Links

Actual Results:
Shows the sourced file

Expected Results:
Would like it to also show From where the Link was called. To sometimes, try to
fix the link

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Have an option to show from where the link was called, or just show the firs
occurrence

Automatically finding labels prioritizes on column labels if the next cell
above/below the found label cell does not have text content at the moment the
cell formula is compiled (not interpreted). What happens here is that in both
documents the intersection of the label in 1.A1/2.A2 and the formula cell in B3
is A3 instead of the expected 1.B1/2.B2. If a numeric value is entered in A3 in
either document it can be observed.

Automatic labels are fragile (and should be deprecated in the UI option
settings). Best use defined label ranges,
Sheet -> Named Ranges and Expressions -> Labels...

Hi Olivier, I don't like to insist but I contest that it can be classified as
"worksforme".
It seems to me that, from 2017 to today, nothing substantial has changed: the
original problem has remained the same.
I will limit myself to just one example: suppose I want information and help on
the "Divisore" (in IT) format (from Format> Cells> Numbers) by clicking on
"Help" (see attachment "help.jpg").
What I find is disarming: misinformation and nothing useful (see attachments
"guida1" and "guida2": they are in IT but nothing changes in the EN version).
If you explain to me how an "apprentice" would acquire what he is looking for,
I will be grateful.

Strange. Apparently, there must be something above ‘aa’ to make it useable.
Open LabelBaf.ods. Cell B3 (='Rz'+1) shows wrong value, 1 instead of 3.
(Who can trust Calc if it gives wrong values without warning?)
Now, enter label ‘cc’ in cell A3. Cell B3 shows error!
Enter ‘**’ in cell A1; error remains; edit formula: error vanishes!

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open LabelBad.ods.
2.Open LabelBaf.ods.
3.

Actual Results:
1. Cell B3 shows error.
2. Cell B3 shows wrong value

Expected Results:
correct values!

Reproducible: Always

I can reproduce the steps in LibreOffice 7.2.5.2, under Kubuntu 18.04, x64.

In my opinion, even if the process of defining the animation hasn't ended, it
shouldn'd disappear from the list.

So (here is Intel Core 2 Quad 9450 with 8 Gb of memory):

I had 100% CPU loaded of one CPU core and allocated over 5 Gb of memory after
Ctrl+D pressing. Time for (never) ending is around 25 minutes and then I killed
the process. I didn't have the crash in this case.

@Rafael please proceed with your suggestion.

Further info: the Cell object has separate properties for styles

"Cell Style" contains the applied style

and

"ConditionalFormat", "ConditionalFormatLocal", "ConditionalFormatXML" which
describe the conditional format of the cell.

Conditional formats overrides cell style, but does not *overwrites* it.
