Just a note: when considering Unicode symbols, remember that the system font
used for their rendering could not have it. Cue: bug 133089 caused by a fix to
tdf#124471 (but PUA codepoints were used there, so might be moot).

Dear Harald Koester,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,
QA Team

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 154739] Spelling correction deletes word

2023-05-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=154739

We think that the problem is within LibreOffice. The sample code is pretty
simple and involves no logic at all. We simply register a
`com.sun.star.ui.XContextMenuInterceptor` and return CONTINUE_MODIFIED without
any modification to the context menu.

In our production extension, we actually modify the menu, with the same result
on the 'Always correct as' of the autocorrect functionality.

If the problem is indeed in LibreOffice, every extension that registers an
interceptor has the potential to break the autocorrect.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 155224] New: Libreoffice Writer Freezes and Crashes with multiple windows open

2023-05-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=155224

Bug ID: 155224
Summary: Libreoffice Writer Freezes and Crashes with multiple
windows open
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.5.3.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: agap...@hotmail.com

Version: 7.5.3.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 50(Build:2)
CPU threads: 12; OS: Linux 6.3; UI render: default; VCL: kf5 (cairo+xcb)
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTf-8); UI: en-US
7.5.3-1
Calc: threaded

LibreOffice Writer crashes when I open two windows side-by-side with one
document that I wrote and sent to myself via email and a second document on the
right side in which I write. Both documents use MS Office Fonts (Arial and
Times New Roman). A sentence or so into the new document, the document freezes
and then crashes to desktop forcing me to recover documents. Unfortunately
nothing is saved and I am greeted with a blank document.

I am able to reproduce it every time with the same documents. Resetting profile
does not help.

There is no corresponding error message.

Please help!

Ah, I realise you already gave me an answer in bug 129610 comment 15 !

MarjaE, there is the "Content Navigation View", which you can turn on in the
Navigator. This will also allow multiselection of headings.
So I think your usecase is covered here, with two options: either copying the
collapsed heading, or copying a multiselection in Content Navigation View.

Marking as "resolved - notabug", but still interested to hear from Jim: does
this absolutely need to be exclusively available in Content Navigation View?
(like the drag-and-drop of headings)

Only the top section is copied when Chapter 1 is expanded in the navigator,
everything is copied when it is collapsed.
So the workaround is to first collapse the chapter, then copy it: it will take
all subsections along with it.

Jim, in parallel to your recent fix for bug 154211, is there space for some
improvement here? A shift + click range selection, useful for when a section is
expanded, or for when only a portion of a section needs to be copied?

--- Comment #5 from Stéphane Guillou (stragu)

Reproduced in OOo 3.3 and a recent master build.

I can confirm that in Excel 365, following the same steps, the range is
extended in the C10 formula. However, the range is not updated if the cell is
dragged to a different column, or if it is dragged below the original range. So
this seems to only happen in specific, straight-forward cases.

Other apps:
- OnlyOffice does not extend the range, same as LibreOffice
- Gnumeric and Google Sheets extend the range, same as Excel

I consider this as request for enhancement rather than a bug.

Eike and UX team, what are your thoughts on this?

I could reproduce by using the following steps:
1. Open Calc
2. In cell A1, enter the formula: =SUM($Sheet1.B1:C1)
3. Optional check: Copy the A1 cell, paste in A2: formulas stay the same
4. Cut the A1 cell, paste in A3

Result:
Both A2 and A3 are updated to repeat the sheet reference:
=SUM($Sheet1.B:$Sheet1.B)

Tested in:

Version: 7.6.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 002ae41bb6088002ba3ed0188ac822fb823a23f9

Locale: en-AU (en_AU.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

Already in 6.0.0.3, but it's a regression as OOo 3.3 did not have that issue.

Note that, if using relative references (no dollar sign in step 2), the
formulas are all _simplified_ to remove the superfluous sheet reference.

Hello from Fedora 38, LO 7.5.3.2.

LibreOffice Draw PNG export works differently now. Instead of exporting a
cropped selection, as in earlier versions, it creates a file of zero bytes.

Exporting selected area to JPEG or GIF works fine. So one can work around the
issue.

Yes, I use the setting "English" because I want the interface to be in the
developer's language. However, I feel the date in the "day-month-year" way, not
the "month-day-year" way. As a user, I want to enter the dates as
"day-month-year" and to be able to edit it. I don't want to switch to German,
because then simple things like "IF" will become "WENN" or even much worse.

Other office suits (like Microsoft Excel) have no problems with it.

Once again, the users expect from the software that if something is offered to
edit, the software will understand the input correctly at least if no
information was altered. Here it is not the case.

When some settings in different independent places make this impossible, then
the settings design may be improved.

Thank you for the attachments.

I tested both PDFs in Firefox, Okular and GNOME Document Viewer and could not
see a difference in filling the field.
However, using Chromium, I could see the difference: the post-processed PDF
does not allow adding more characters than whatever fits in the space
allocated.

Marking as new, seems like a sensible enhancement request to me.

This is *SO MUCH* distant from the reality! The page settings in Calc are VERY
important, and applying them to ranges of sheets is very useful thing. Only the
most basic usage can avoid that.

I do not see how stacking "ignore this", "ignore that" could be a good option
whatsoever.

IMO, the original expectation that the layout should change is wrong -> WF.
Or add a button leading to page style dialog, with some note that "chosen page
layout doesn't match the layout of the page style - do you want to fix that?"
or the like.

Calc is a component where users can be surprised to learn that page style
exists and has to be tweaked to print as expected. Writer, Draw and Impress
clearly have page and slide settings that are directly visible on canvas,
whereas Calc has no visual hint of it.

So I can see how many might expect to see the print ranges' content
automatically adapt to whatever paper size is chosen in the Print dialog,
seeing a sheet as just a number of cells that can expand at will in both
directions, virtually without limits.

Backward compatibility + PDF export means we can't just do away with the Page
Style dialog's settings that can also be found in the Print dialog, nor add a
"[from printer settings]" option for Paper Format like there is for Paper Tray.

How about an option in the print dialog, something like "Ignore Page Style's
paper format", which could be on by default?
