Steps to Reproduce: 1. Insert | Frame | Frame. Check relative to entire paragraph area. Width: 100%. Anchor: as character. (AFAICT none of these settings affect the bug.) 2. Click inside the frame. Table | Insert Table | 2 columns x 2 rows. 3. Try to hover the mouse over the line between the columns and the rows. It never changes to the resize arrow and therefore one cannot resize the columns or rows by dragging. Actual Results: Cursor never changes to the resize arrow. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 157830] New: When scrolling a document at a resolution of 4k, CPU usage jumps to 50% or more and performance is laggy/choppy.
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=157830 Bug ID: 157830 Summary: When scrolling a document at a resolution of 4k, CPU usage jumps to 50% or more and performance is laggy/choppy. Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.6.2.1 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: jake.m.knep...@gmail.com This is pretty easy to replicate. LibreOffice version: 7.4, 7.5, 7.6 (exits in Flatpak versions and native versions, such as .deb and .rpm) Hardware I've tested this on (different distros listed and tested on each one): Machine #1: 2700x, RX 580, DDR4 16GB 3200mhz RAM (Debian 12/Linux Mint 21/Fedora 38/KDE Neon) Machine #2: 13700k, RX 7900 XT, DDR5 32GB 7200mhz RAM (Ubuntu 23.10/Fedora 38/Fedora 39 Beta/Most recent version of MX Linux) I used a 40 page document, both in .odt and .docx. Results were the same. To replicate (it is CRITICAL to test for this bug at 4k - 1920x1080 is too low of a resolution and won't reproduce the result!): 1. Make sure display resolution is set to 3840x2160 (4k). 2. Open LibreOffice Writer. 3. Open any multi-page document, the bigger the better. 4. Scroll. 5. Observe that CPU usage of a core or two will spike well beyond 50% or more. 6. Observe choppy, laggy performance - your fans might even spin up on the CPU to compensate for the high usage. Increasing resolution definitely makes it worse. Setting scaling to 200% or 150% also makes it worse, but not by a lot. The problem seems to exist independent of scaling. As noted, the higher the resolution, the more LibreOffice hits the CPU when scrolling and the laggier it gets. Not sure why this is happening. Microsoft Word only uses about 3% CPU when scrolling through a large document and isn't laggy at all. Very smooth. I thought maybe it was a GTK thing, but it's not since it still happens on KDE Neon. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 153111] Terrible performance when scrolling on Wayland
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=153111 --- Comment #6 from M. Knepper --- (In reply to Stéphane Guillou (stragu) from comment #5) > (In reply to jake.m.knepper from comment #4) > > I can reproduce this, as well. It's especially worse at larger resolutions. > > Jake, can you please also paste here the information copied from Help > > About LibreOffice? > > All: did this start in version 7.4? Are you able to test earlier versions to > let us know if this is a regression? > https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ I am so sorry that I am just now seeing this. To update: this problem still exists on Fedora 38 and the Fedora 39 beta. I've updated my hardware, too. Right now I have a 13700k, 32GB DDR5 7200mhz ram, and an RX 7900 XT. To replicate, all you need is a 4k monitor. 1. Makes sure your resolution is set to 4k (3840x2160). 2. Open LibreOffice writer. 3. Open a multi-page document of any kind. 4. Begin scrolling. 5. Observe a 50% usage of one or two CPU cores and laggy, choppy performance. This does not happen on Microsoft word - when scrolling on MS Word, the the CPU usage (as well as GPU usage) stays around 3% tops on any given core. It's also not laggy at all. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

You can see both problems: the initial bold breaks the word wrap, but un-bolding fixes it. But then italicizing breaks the word wrap, but un-italicizing does not fix the wrap. Undo, however, does fix the wrap. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 157829] New: Changing character formatting of wrapped RTL/LTR text in LTR/RTL paragraph messes up the wrapping
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=157829 Bug ID: 157829 Summary: Changing character formatting of wrapped RTL/LTR text in LTR/RTL paragraph messes up the wrapping Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.6.2.1 release Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: will.fried...@gmail.com Description: If I insert text of the opposite direction to the paragraph direction (i.e., RTL text in an LTR paragraph or LTR text in an RTL paragraph) towards the end of the line, the opposite-direction word correctly wraps to the next line. If, however, I then try to change the formatting of some of the characters of the opposite-direction wrapped word (e.g., bold, italics, strikethrough, etc.), then the word breaks in the middle and stops wrapping. (I am also experiencing a problem where sometimes undoing the formatting results in the word wrapping correctly again, and sometimes not. I cannot figure out when the wrapping is fixed and when it is not.) Steps to Reproduce: 1. Type a line of text in whatever the current text orientation is (e.g., English in LTR orientation, Hebrew/Arabic in RTL orientation). 2. As you get towards the end of the line, switch to the opposite orientation language (e.g., if the paragraph is LTR, switch to Hebrew/Arabic; if the paragraph is RTL, switch to English). Type enough letters to wrap the word to the next line. 3. Select several of the characters toward the beginning of the wrapped word. Bold or italicize the text. Actual Results: The word stops wrapping to the next line, but splits in the middle. Expected Results: The word should continue wrapping on the next line. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: Version: 7.6.2.1 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 56f7684011345957bbf33a7ee678afaf4d2ba333 CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 6.1 Service Pack 1 Build 7601; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US Calc: CL threaded -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
