Yes, I can confirm you the latest version I tried
(LibreOfficeDev-6.1.0.0.alpha0_2018-03-22-x86_64.AppImage) works as it is
intented to
be with svg pictures.

I look forward to the latest fresh release.

You must save a document with svg pictures and re-open it to see only png
pictures after. The png pictures are rendered at low resolution and appears
ugly.
