Bug ID: 160323 Summary: Page reference off & generally a verbose User Guide that stultifies Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.6.2.1 release Hardware: Other OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Documentation Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: vanheydenaut...@gmail.com CC: olivier.hal...@libreoffice.org Found an error in the documentation for 'Master Page' and Template creation. The error is Step 5. Add some pages to the master document (2nd pp where it states), "The example in this section uses the sequence of page styles given in 'Step 1. Plan the project' on page 439." There is a “Step 1. Plan the project” on page 378 but there is no such “Step 1. Plan the project” on pg 439, and in fact that page is about spreadsheets. NOTE: I find the wording and inclusion of so many 'WAYS' of doing the same thing enormously cumbersome, such as in the statement, [Step 5.] "Make sure paragraph marks are showing. You can set them in Tools > Options > LibreOffice Writer > Formatting Aids, or click the Toggle Formatting Marks icon on the Standard toolbar, or press Ctrl+F10" Too many options in a sea of voluminous textual references and instructions which in themselves are difficult to navigate to. My recommendation is to strip down the multiple suggested alternate ways of doing the same function into a streamlined version of the User Guide and let users get a breather. We can always go onto the community forum if the simple straight forward way is notworking which when we look that over would be an impossibility for the main method NOT TO WORK. Then we can learn the 'fancy alternatives' later if we want to get into GURU status. By the way, is the PRO version of Libre 'Writer' any better than the Community version? PS. I would be happy to do the stripping down and submit it for review. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
