Just go to Help - Restart in safe mode -> Continue in safe mode. I'm unsure what sort of "improvement" was done with the last update but everything worked fine with the earlier version and I'd prefer to revert to an earlier version than risk losing the words added to the spellchecker to take advantage of the "improvement".
