Put cursor before 't' of that 8. Press Delete 9. Type T -> un-capitalized t at the right Overwrite insertion behaves like Delete + Insertion (steps 7-9). I would expect it the behave as 'Backspace + Insertion (steps 4-6) Why? It was working differently in the paste + taste. I use tend to overwrite text by simply overtyping or backspace/insertion. Less often with delete (but that's me) The end-result is now hotchpotch. If you use overwrite, the old text being at the left. Using backspace + insertion the old text text at the right. Doesn't make reading correction easier I principle it shouldn't matter if you did use delete/backspace/overwrite to replace something. With show changes the result should look the same. But that's my point of view. I get that backspace being different compared to delete technically, however this more about readability from end-user perspective -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
