[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 45998] Pasted text does not overwrite existing text in overwrite mode
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45998 Heiko Tietze changed: What|Removed |Added Severity|normal |enhancement CC|libreoffice-ux-advise@lists |tietze.he...@gmail.com |.freedesktop.org| Keywords|needsUXEval | Status|UNCONFIRMED |RESOLVED Resolution|--- |WONTFIX --- Comment #15 from Heiko Tietze --- The overwrite mode is a dangerous thing as Ins is often pressed inadvertently without proper feedback on the keyboard like shift. You may think edit and paste are the same but when typing the visual focus is close to the input whereas pasting might change a lot more. By the way, the mode is called "overtype" in MSO and works exactly the same as in LibreOffice. And I do not know any tool that works as requested. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45998 --- Comment #13 from oc-spa...@laposte.net --- Reproducible steps: Open lowriter, write some text (called 'initial text' thereafter), put the cursor in the middle of that text, go in overwrite mode (press the 'Insert' key), paste some other text (with 'Ctrl+V' for example). Actual Results: The pasted text does not overwrite the initial text, it is inserted instead of overwriting. Expected Results: The pasted text should overwrite the initial text. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. In regards to that, thanks to the help of beluga_ on IRC we've been able to repro that behavior in Calc in a 5.2 Alpha build. Otherwise I've been able to reproduce the behavior described by the reporter in Writer on v5.0.4.2 en-US on OSX El Capitan -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45998 Hashem Masoud wraithl...@gmail.com changed: What|Removed |Added Status|UNCONFIRMED |NEW CC||jmadero@gmail.com Ever Confirmed|0 |1 --- Comment #3 from Hashem Masoud wraithl...@gmail.com 2012-09-05 08:20:47 UTC --- (In reply to comment #2) I expect paste in overwrite mode to behave exactly as if I had typed the text that I'm pasting, thus it should overwrite the existing text. Confirmed in: Version 3.6.0.4 (Build ID: 932b512) Slackware Linux 13.37 Calc application. Pasting in overwrite mode doesn't work, typing in overwrite mode works. Your answer means that the behavior of pasting text should not depend on the overwrite setting, which to my mind is just an arbitrary limitation. Maybe there's a consensus on this, but I'm not aware of it. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
