I hit this limitation, too:

its not possible to use custom fields where the values are read from the user
(or global) config file.

defining it in a template or per file doesn't really help here as the use value
for the variable can't be set without changing a document.

in other words, it should be possible to set a custom variable in config:

EDV-Organisation


and this variable should be set when the variable is used in a document.

You can find this options in the file properties.

Menu/File/Properties/Custom properties.

I think you can set up the default or other templates with the needed fields.

Resolved as worksforme, please if you are not agree reopen it.
