The flickering is once per typed letter.

I installed a build of 5.1 and the flickering was not present.

Given the health impact of the flickering, I would like to see the fix included
in a 5.0.X release.

Are you saying it flickers constantly? Or only once per typed letter (true for
me)?

I also tried with 5.1 and there the flicker is almost non-existent.

Could you try installing a build of 5.1 and giving it a shot:
http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/Win-x86@62-merge-TDF/

It installs parallel to your stable LibO, so it won't mess anything up.

Then you might decide whether you want to keep this open or close as resolved.

I forgot to add that the flickering causes the autocomplete to run very slowly.
