So I closed it, deleted the new xcu and re-instated the old one. Just now, I opened the PDF I had issues with and it pasted exactly that section as text rather than image. Very strange. I'm happy to close the bug unless someone thinks this needs to be taken further? But I'm guessing the problems with that xcu must be well know already? I do not have MS-Office on my PC (MS does not provide Linux version of its office software ;-) ).
