I've tried out a fresh new profile without any extension or configuration changes and have not experienced any issues until I've installed the WritingTool extension - at that moment with Skia enabled the freezes came back. I'm not able to say how this is connected to Skia and if it's not just a correlation. However (and I can't find that bug report, I don't see anything that was closed already), a year or two ago Writer was crashing for me without any error message. Writer froze when the very moment I had to restart it after turning Skia back again, and then it crashed without any error message when I opened and tried to close 12 documents. However, I've noticed quite visible performance downgrade with Skia disabled, especially in Cals (in general, but most noticeable with a couple of pages of data)) and in Writer (larger documents).
