Bug ID: 115660
Summary: Ability to fix a user's vertical cursor position in
view in online Writer
Product: LibreOffice Online
Version: unspecified
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Reporter: ba...@caesar.elte.hu
When multiple users are editing the same document, edits by other users working
on earlier parts of the documents can shift the cursor position in the view,
which can make following your own edits difficult.
A possible solution could be to add a view option (similar to the current
'Always follow the editor' one) that fixes your current vertical cursor
position on the screen when it would be moved by other users' changes. Then as
long as others aren't editing the same paragraph, your cursor position will
only be influenced by your own edits (and those move the cursor normally in
every direction).
A few special cases:
- Everything is deleted before your cursor, so it's forced to moved back to
top. This is rare, and is fine.
- Someone else is editing the same paragraph as you. This is also rare, and
can't be helped.
- There could be rare, disruptive changes.
