Copy/paste works, the dialog is amodal, and there hasnt been an objection to
WFM. So lets close it.

Heiko is right, the dialog window is modal. Does this help?

The suggestion to use copy/paste only works if the user doesn't copy another
content between field inserted actions. So the usefulness is limited.

I love the idea of a 'last used field' item in the fields sub-menu. For me a
single item is enough, which could be introduced as new UNO command to that the
user can assign a shortcut key or an icon via Customize dialog. With that the
user has not to go through the menu.

You can copy/paste fields. And the Insert Field dialog is amodal so you can
keep it open while editing the document.
